“Rude Staff Ruins It”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

I enjoyed my stay in NYC but as far as the staff goes I found them to be rude and not helpful at all. Any question I had was truly an inconvenience and it showed. Even the manager was rude, he was yelling at another employee in a different language...we are in the USA Speak English!! Rooms were clean. The shower went from normal to extremely hot in seconds without touching it! The deli next door was nice and the food was decent for a quick breakfast. Walking distance to Time Square and Central Park. I would have liked my stay a lot better had the customer service been better, I guess they know people will still book with them because for the cost and free parking so they are able to continue to be rude and nasty. As for a recommendation, stay here if you'd like and don't mind rude people...it is cheap and in a good location...I just deal with rude people.. after all they are in customer service! Be more pleasant Travel Inn!!!

January 1, 2014-We were pleasently surprized that there really was free parking at this midtown hotel. There are only 2 small floors of garage filled with large SUVs and pickups. I was able to find a spot, which was great.
The front desk had my paperwork ready and was very efficient.
The room itself had alot to be desired. The beds were the hardest I have ever tried to sleep on. The room they put me in was directly over a subway that ran every 20 minutes, but wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be, but you could feel it. If you are a light sleeper this wouldn't be the greatest of room to stay in. Bathroom is the smallest I have ever been in.
On the plus side, the room was very clean, it had a refrigerator and microwave, with a flat screen TV with limited channels. There is an oudoor pool (not to be used in the winter though) and a very small fitness center.
Location, location, location. This hotel is located in a fantastic place. Walking distance to the Hudson River, Times Square, and 5th Avenue. Location a 5!!!
Coming into NYC to see a play. It's a great place to stay. Wouldn't stay multiple days in the room I was in. Stay on an upper floor.

Room Tip: Upper floor away from the subway.

Love this hotel! We lived in midtown for 10 years until moving upstate, but no hotel is so convenient. Totally FREE self-parking (saves $40-$60 per day), a pool in the summer, and courteous staff. Add that to large, clean, rooms...a one to three block walk to Broadway theater and you have a WINNER!

Room Tip: Ask to be off the main street...although, sometimes it's fun to look out the window and feel the...

Stayed at travel inn 1 night from January.2-3....during blizzard. Drove in from n.j. For Annie show( Xmas gift to 16 yr old daughter). Great location for many reasons....Lincoln tunnel is literally 3 minutes away so no headaches of driving in city(this was particularly convenient considering when we left there was 7 inches of snow on the city streets...commuter nightmare). It was also so convenient to Times Square and broadway....especially considering the below zero weather. 4 city blocks...or @ 10-15 minute walk. About 20 min. Walk to rock. Center and/ or grand central station. Free parking on site in heated garage(not valet. Self park....with direct elevator access to hotel...super nice bonus to get to car when needed). We got to the city early to beat the storm and they let us park our car at 11 a.m.( check in at 3...). So we toured the area until check in.
Rooms nice size and clean, small bathrooms. Wi fi...extra charge.($6.00 per day I think....) Broadway deli inside hotel...reasonable....but we ate all our meals at theater row diner across street and 2 blocks down towards Times Square. ( this diner also serves the hotel room service....extensive menu). Great ny diner with prices from $5-20... Breakfast all day, deli sandwiches, souls and dinner entrees. Liquor also for after broadway drink or dessert.

Our only complaint was noise....but it is ny and blizzard conditions so many last minute guests late at night...so lots of luggage noise outside room all night. We faced the pool on 3rd floor...so no traffic noise...just guest noise. But after a busy day and listening to howling blizzard winds(and help of earplugs)....sleep was managed.
Quaint lobby area with doorman, computer stations marble floors.
We would stay again due to price and convenience to tunnel, Times Square and free heated self parking garage on site ( price was $140 per night thru expedia). A steal for n.y.c.

Room Tip: Pool view...upper floor. Away from elevator.

this was our 2nd stay at the travel inn and it was just as good as the first. I booked last Jan for our stay over new years this year. This time our room was on the 6th floor and it was very nice...even abit bigger than the room we had the first time. This hotels location is the best. When we drove into the city it is so close to the tunnel and easy to arrive at. The man working the underground parking lot...same man as in 2011 is super friendly and helpful. Parking is a breeze...as was check in. We arrived at 9 am on new years eve day and knew our room would not be ready so we parked and started walking knowing our vehicle full of our stuff was safe. We went back around 2ish and our room was ready and we checked it. We were back and forth the next 2 days all the time....because this hotel is so close to times square, the theatre district and all the restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable, I put our garbages and towels out in the hall for the housekeeper the next day when I heard her out there and we got fresh towels and garbages back. Wifi worked well. Deli beside our hotel is a nice feature to have so close. Our stay was great and we will return !

I chose this hotel for the free parking, proximity to Time Square and ease to get to once entering the city. This hotel had all 3. Just a short walk to Time Square - maybe 4 blocks. Very close to Bryant Park which was very nice at Christmas. And the parking was FREE - although a tight squeeze getting in a spot and leaving the garage. The room was big for the city and the area felt safe. There was a police station across the street so you will hear sirens. There was also some sort of hammering and vacuuming from about 2-3am. We were there on a freak warm spell, 70 degrees in Dec. and the room stayed warm, would not cool. The beds were terrible. It was like sleeping on a board. The staff was nice and hotel pretty clean and well maintained for an older hotel. They used very scented products which irritated my asthmatic child a little, but this was just the lobby.

We stayed there for a week and I have to say I was happy to have chosen it. Great location, just three blocks away from Times Square and if u plan to visit the city properly u can take a walk practically anywhere, 5th avenue, Rockefeller center, maycs, Empire State Building, and u have train stations close, don't rent a car and use public transportation (trains are better) it's cheaper and u don't have to deal with expensive parking and traffic. The only thing I didn't like abt the hotel is that they charge you the internet connection ($6 a day) and in the room I was staying the signal was awful, I had to be glued to the window to connect, fix that and it's a 5star hotel. Recommended!
