Very nice hotel, a little expensive but really great location. Mini bar is super expensive, brunch is fantastic and the spa is beautiful. Love the bar area with the piano. Go and eat at Benjamin steak house

Our stay at the Astoria was part of a special birthday visit with our two children - 10 and under. Room was lovely, bathroom clean and the shower great. Service was fantastic and everyone was really helpful. We were there during Hurricane Sandy and although they ended up a bit short staffed the only thing they reduced was room service on one day when you had to request maid service if you wanted it. They laid on additional tours of the hotel for those of us who were stuck in as the storm came in. We wouldn't have done something like that normally but it was great and we got to see bits of the hotel we wouldn't have done otherwise and really learn about the amazing history of the place. Would recommend the hotel, the tour (I think they do them to a lesser degree normally) and simply the experience of staying in this famous location.

Room Tip: If it's a special occasion write in advance and they'll see what they can do to spoil you a...

We were lucky to get an excellent deal online, otherwise could not have afforded to stay here. Would not have paid more though, service was average- hotel concierge the rudest and most unwelcoming I have ever experienced. Doormen and room service staff good, housekeeping insisted on trying to enter and clean before 9am each morning unless we hung the privacy sign up the night before. Even then, most times they still knocked and tried to enter despite the sign, which was really annoying particularly as we had a jetlagged sleeping toddler. Could not understand why they needed to clean our rooms at that time in the morning. As others have said bathrooms and room furnishings are old and dated but kind of match the old school charm of the landmark. Bed very comfortable and we had a large king room so had more space than usual. Didn't need to use heating as whole hotel heated very well. Public spaces are most impressive. Would only recommend if you can get a good deal otherwise go somewhere more modern and visit during the day or night for a meal and the atmosphere instead.

I've stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria many times over the years. It's always a treat. The service is always top notch and they truly care about maintaining the property. Only small drawback - be a little patient with the showers: some rooms are more updated than others; sometimes the transition mechanisms for going from bath to shower are a little tricky.

One minor issue in an otherwise fabulous hotel. I love every opportunity to walk through the lobby!

Room Tip: I've never had a problem with any room but, then again, I'm not very picky.

Stayed there for 5 nights. The only good thing was the location and the clock at reception. Everyone that works there are rude people, no sense of client-service. From the doorman to the waiter. The floor (17 floor) smelled like an asstray... Worst hotel ever.

Had an amazing experience at the WA. Guest service was excellent from all staff, genuine friendliness from George who we met in the lobby area and saw a few times during our stay. Barbara led our hotel tour and what a great lady she was, made us feel at home while sharing the incredible history of the hotel. Our room was clean, spacious and luxurious. The beds were the best we have slept in at a hotel, bathroom was marble with nice amenities and lovely scented soaps. We dined at Oscars which had an excellent quality buffet and delicious desserts, loved the red velvet cake! We were so fortunate to stay a the Waldorf for a special 60th birthday trip and we would return in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises. The location is idea for seeing all the major sights of NYC.

Room Tip: Higher floor for a view, Lexington Ave side for quieter rooms, away from the elevator as the bell is...

Check in was extremely friendly and nice and I was treated to a lovely corner room on the 22nd floor. As others have said, the rooms are a bit small but mine was very clean and orderly.

The best aspect of the Waldorf are the public spaces. The lounges, lobby, restaurants all reflect a lost era. They even have a dress code which I had not seen since my stay at the Greenbriar. There as no enforcement that I could see but at least they made an effort.

Of course coffee is expensive! With fairly reasonable room rates, all of this luxury has to be paid for somehow. It seems some people wants Walfdorf service and luxury at Hampton Inn prices!

My only complaint (and it is significant), is that my bathtub did not drain. I called three times before it was repaired. Not so good from a place like this!

Otherwise, go ahead and treat yourself.
