Stayed at The Pierre over the weekend, two adults and a child in a city-view suite. There was a "Suite celebration" 50 per cent off after the first night promotion and we took advantage of it. Suite was quite large, newly renovated and nicely appointed. There was a nice open view of the UES from both living room and bedroom windows. There were three flat screen TVs, including one above the bathtub. Bathroom was full of amenities, included a separate soaking tub and a large marbled shower stall, and boasted new shiny fixtures -- the rain showerhead was amazing. Housekeeping keeps the place immaculately clean and brought extras of everything requested (including a child size bathrobe and slippers without us even asking). Room service was pricey but very prompt and attentive. Food was quite good, including some Indian cousine dishes. Both vegetarian options and a children's menu were available as well. One morning we had breakfast at Le Caprice, which was good as well. Lovely flaky croissants and availability of soy milk is a definite plus. Room service breakfast was excellent, especially the pancakes. There is also a kitchenette with a microwave and a refrigerator, which was useful for yogurt and snacks.
Location cannot be beat, nor the service. They will literally go above and beyond to make your stay an excellent one. There is a hotel courtesy car but we did not take advantage of it this time.
Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth every penny? Absolutely. This is old world charm and new world luxury at their best, and we are definitely looking forward to returning.

Location is unbeatable, in the lower east corner of Central Park. It's also a quiet hotel, with friendly personnel at main desk and bar.
The rooms are a comfortable, luxurious and fully equipped with large TV, DVD player, Bose player with iPod docking station, complimentary internet access!, etc. Also include several amenities like fruits, bathrobe, slippers, Molton Brown products.... and even though my room was at a lower floor, it was very quiet.
I had to use the complimentary 24-hour business center which I found very useful.
Not cheap, but definitely recommend it.

First of all let me say that this is my second review of The Pierre, my first was two years ago when we stayed there for the first time. That stay was wonderful so I thought I’d give a brief follow up.

Once again it was a fabulous experience! We arrived on a Wednesday a little after 2 PM and were shown promptly to our room. We had a Parkview room directly above the one we had 2 years ago. The view out the large windows is of the northern end of Central Park and is stunning! You can’t get a room anywhere with a much better view.

The room was spotless and with no adjoining doors extremely quiet. The Pierre is a combination hotel/residence with most of the residences on the upper floors facing directly the 5th Avenue (Central Park) side. Our floor this year had one large suite, one residence and our Parkview room. Two years ago there was one residence, one Parkview and two standard rooms. Point is that the upper floors are small and there are not a lot of rooms or traffic in the hallways.

Advice here – stay in one of the higher floors.

The bedding was extremely comfortable – so much so that we are ordering “Pierre” pillows for use at home. The room was cool and the room service (we had room service breakfast) was wonderful. Eating breakfast in your pajamas while looking out over Central Park can’t be beat!!

The Hotel has a courtesy car which we used to be taken to the Broadway Theater area for dinner and plays each night. The Concierge Desk was very helpful and knowledgeable. The location can’t be beat! The Hotel is essentially connected to Barneys (1/4 block away), 2 blocks north of all the fabulous shopping on Fifth Avenue, and 2-3 blocks west of Park and Madison Avenues.

The only issue we had during our stay was that it was very difficult to connect to the internet. We even had their tech department come to help and ended up having to use the hardwired port. In the end it was easier just to connect via our iPads on the ATT network.

The Pierre still shines as one of the best if not the best hotel we have ever stayed in. We will definitely be back for our next Broadway visit!!

Room Tip: Pick a park view room on the upper floors.

Dear Panamaline,

We want to extend our sincerest gratitude for taking the time to share your experience and to highlight all the wonderful things you enjoyed about your stay. We cannot thank you enough for not only writing one, but two, glowing reviews about your stays at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel.

We have to agree with you that you will not be able to find a better view of Central Park in New York City. The Park even looks more beautiful this time of year when everything is lush and green and the flowers are in full bloom! We will make note in your personal file that you prefer a room on a higher floor, to ensure that during your next visit your preferences will be accommodated.

We are happy to hear you love our pillows to so much that you will be placing an order! Our comfortable beds can also be ordered by guests should you ever want The Pierre sleeping experience in the comfort of your own home.

Our new complimentary house car just arrived, the 2012 Jaguar XJ, so we are so happy to know you were able to experience this recent addition to our hotel. We are sorry to hear you had difficulty with the Internet. Hopefully this will not be an issue during your next stay with us!

We value our guest’s feedback and truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel!

Regards,
General Manager

The bed was heavenly and the room quiet. We felt like we were coming home after a long day pounding the pavement. The first day they brought a variety of fruit to the room, stale but some of it was good. It was my birthday - left a nice card and a pc. of cheescake, decorated on a plate with my name in chocolate on it. Bathroom is small but rearranged the glass table to go beside the vanity and it worked. Walk in closet. Great TV. View was fantastic- 38th floor over the park! Very friendly, helpful. The bar had great drink menu and bar food- yum! Noisy at times but very comfortable, classy spot. The location can't be beat by anything off 5th Ave. A gracious place without the attitude.

Room Tip: Book ahead and ask for a view if they have one- as high up as possible.

Firstly, note there on two entrances on two different streets. The hotel is nicely positioned across from Central Park, so park views are possible, though you should request it at time of booking.

The hotel must have been converted from an old residential property as I met a gentleman in the elevator (my neighbor), that told me he owned his unit there and had been there with his family for a very long time. Also, the lobby is not what one would expect for a 5-star property. It is simple, and has low ceilings. Oh, more on the elevator ride, they have someone "driving" the elevators. Drivers are friendly and greet owners by name. It's a charming hotel, with character.

Room Tip: Rooms can vary a lot. If you want a park view, be sure to ask for it.
