I have had a wonderful 4 day stay at the Pierre. Room was beautiful, bathroom clean, front desk and concierge very polite and helpful. Room service very good. Security very efficient - we had problems with the password safe and both times someone was there to fix it within minutes. We had a late check-out and even on this day the room was made up !!! It is an expensive hotel but if you can afford it, it`s worth every dollar spent!

A Grande Dame that has not survived its passage into the 21st Century. Long closed after an extensive refurbishment, I am afraid to report the refurbished Pierre is not in good shape - it suffers from a problem that is not easily remedied: very bad management.

It's still very expensive, of course, and so you expect impeccable service, pleasant rooms and a great stay in the heart of New York. You get none of these things.

My wife and I stayed here in the Summer of 2010. The first room we were given stank to high heaven. We complained -- management attempted to bring some kind of machine that was supposed to help clear up the smell. We reject one more room for being near an impossibly loud machine before we finally got a room that was half-decent.

We were staying just for a couple of days - but after 1 night and a series of additional management mishaps, decided to leave and book elsewhere for the remainder of the stay.

My conclusion is that The Pierre is simply not up to it anymore. It would require entirely new management, and probably another refurbishment, to bring it up to the class of genuinely good five star hotels in New York City. Try elsewhere.

The renovation took years and the result is very disappointing; the management team is even more disappointing. The lobby is now dark, you may have to open the door on Fifth Avenue yourself (there is one doorman on duty at night), and no one will offer to carry your bags.

My room came with a disability accessible bath with a major problem. Since there is no shower door, flooding is a risk without a proper pitch in the floor and flood it did. Over a half inch of water covered the entire bathroom floor at the end of my shower. The hotel allowed me to move for the second night and included an upgrade. The pictures of the second bath are posted. It looks like something in a developing country designed without architect or designer. Nothing works quite right, open the drapes and they hang on 10 different cords, call room service at 8pm and you're curtly told there are 2 calls holding and you'll be called back. Food from room service is mediocre at best. Elevator attendants have been kept, unfortunately some of them have profound body odor.

In summary, the management team doesn't know what they're doing and you'll feel it every step of the way.

As first part of our honeymoon we stayed at the Pierre. The experience was absolutely perfect. As other reviewers stated, the hotel is in a wonderful position, just few steps away from the luxury shops of Fifth Avenue, just beside Madison Avenue and in front of the Central Park. The atmosphere of the property is luxurious, classy and incredibly calm. Other luxury hotels in the Apple are always crowded and noisy. But when you enter the Pierre, that's another story. After a long day of sightseeing, the corridor on Fifth Avenue welcomes guests with silence, soft lights and the perfumes of scented candles. We got the experience of going back home. (The Pierre building is actually a cooperative and there are some people living in). The room was perfect: luxurious but not overdecorated, with all the amenities you would expect from a LHW. The bathroom was well appointed (with Molton Brown toiletries) even if a bit small and the heating system a bit noisy but after exhausting days we did not care. Beds were extremely comfortable. Upon arrival we found champagne, fruits and roses waiting for us...we felt like royalty! The business center, as well as all the other services of the hotel we used, was excellent. Moreover, all the staff were excellent: attentive, friendly and professional. Among them, a special mention for Maurice, the head concierge, and his team (especially Abraham). They were always willing to please and no request was too much for them. They made our stay really special and if we will go back to NYC, we hope to have the opportunity of staying at the Pierre again!

I can't say anything bad about my stay at the Pierre Hotel. Not only was Matthew at the front desk adorable, he was very polite and helpful. Aneesha, Lauren, and Alexandra couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. The room was beautiful and spotless. The beds are wonderful to sleep in, and the hotel is centrally located in a beautiful part of NYC. Laura at the restaurant was excellent too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
