The hotel is good but the staff is excellent. We had some issues with the Airport shuttle service we had booked (not via the hotel, it was independent). The front desk staff (can't remember her name, sorry) was EXCELLENT in helping us out, communicated with the shuttle company on our behalf. We made it to the airport just in time (no thanks to the shuttle company) ONLY because of the efforts of the Mansfield staff. I thank them for that.

Best location in town, very nice old building with a lot of wood details, friendly employees, very confortable bedding, extra clean room but a lot of noise from the street and the city even at the 10th floor. I would recommand this hotel anytime.

Thank you to the staff for the weekend upgrade to the Yeats Apartment. We travel to NYC frequently on business, but chose The Mansfield for a weekend getaway. The staff was a pleasure to deal with, hotel is clean, & this is now one of our favorite hotels. The concierge went above & beyond by walking our luggage 3 blocks when streets were blocked for a parade. Pricey yes, but you are treated accordingly. Highly recommended.

My wife & visit NYC often & stayed at the Mansfield for the first time this weekend. The hotel is very nice; our room was small but very nice & clean. The location is perfect, just a few blocks from Times Square & centrally located. The staff was friendly & accommodated, and they allowed us to store our bags both prior & after check out. My only complaint was that the room did not have an alarm clock, or any clock for that matter. I would recommend this hotel, and it was reasonably priced for NYC.

Location, location, location. Walking distance to Central Park, Times Square, Roosevelt Square, Radio City, 5th Avenue Shopping, Broadway Theatres, restaurants, Grand Central Subway and Empire State Building. Wireless internet, coffee and tea ONLY in the main library room. In the lobby were a pleasant treat of apples for a quick snack in the morning or a newspaper to read, cookies at dinner hour and refreshing ice cold water with lemon all day long. We found all of the staff very friendly and helpful. The downside is the small room with only one chair, the tight placement of toilet to the wall and the slow draining tub but given the age of the hotel, it is still a pleasant room with a very comfortable bed and the rain shower head is wonderful. The other negative thing is the street noise in the room from the constantly honking of the very impatient taxis and delivery trucks which the hotel has no control over but the window a/c masked a lot of the noise. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Mansfield and would stay there again.

Stayed in many places in NYC but none as lovely as The Mansfield! Perfect location just blocks from Times Square, Broadway shows, Empire State Building, but yet tucked off the main strip on a quiet "feeling" little side street (it is still West 44th). Staff was incredible, so friendly and polite. The Junior Suite was really pretty, felt like a small Paris hotel. The single room had a bit of a problem with the air conditioner. Not enough to have us call maintenance though.
Small bar off the main lobby was perfect. Waitstaff so friendly and the breakfast was amazing. Midtown chic, intimate and classy. The large domed glass skylight reminded us of a scene in a movie we couldn't quite recall the name, shattering glass as the main character crashes through from 10 stories above. The bar actually closed for a short while during the day to shoot photos of a rather important looking young model.
Breakfast in the bar was really a pleasant surprise. Eggs Benedict on Brioche (beautiful and delicious), Grilled Grapefuit and strawberries, and memorable French Toast. Love when Greek Yogurt, granola and fresh fruit arrived that the yogurt was plain and not over sweetened. The fruit was fresh, coffee rich, orange juice fresh squeezed!
Built in 1903 by James Renwick, who also designed St. Patrick's Cathedral and The New York Public Library, The Mansfield is a must stay if you want to experience a bit of history. Though the rooms are not large (good luck finding large rooms in the city), they are comfortable and so tasteful. Def. the feel of a European Hotel with great character!
