“Fab location, Tiny rooms!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights, just a few blocks from times square made it a great location. the room was absolutely TINY - but it is New York, so we shouldn't have been surprised :) had a nice meal in the bar the first night we stayed - it always had live music the evenings we stayed there which was really nice... a jazz band one night, which added a lovely touch before we went out for the night.. the one thing that was SO annoying was the air con - possibly the loudest noise I have ever had to attempt to sleep through!!! it was really warm when we stayed so turning it off was not an option!! we asked the front desk to have a look, they installed a new one which was marginally smaller but still not great - it was the one downside of the hotel that would make me think twice about returning... otherwise, no complaints!

Room Tip: Don't skimp on a smaller room if you are anyway claustrophobic!! :) the small rooms ARE small!

Enjoyed our stay at the Mansfield. Great location just blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square, Central Park, St Patricks Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. Hotel was extremely well kept. Staff were friendly and always available. Room was clean and well maintained. Yes, there was road construction going on outside which created quite a bit of noise but the hotel had no control over it. We just took that as part of the "city" experience. Yes, the hallways, bathroom and elevators were small and narrow but the hotel was not built in 2003 but rather 1903. To me this is how you get the real experience of visiting New York. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to be back at the Mansfield the next time we visit New York.

We stayed at The Mansfield for a week and were really satisfied with it. The hotel is located in a nice area and it took us about 5 min of walk to reach times square.
SInce we were not used to the tip system in the states I assume that the cleaning lady got a bit disappointed when she didn't receive proper tip and therefor got tired of doing the cleaning properly?
However, the only thing that I was a bit disappointed about was that the club room was full of hotel guests all the time so we never had the chance to just sit down and have a cup of tea and play some backgammon.

I stayed at the mansfield for business. I received a room on the second floor. There was construction right outside my window. The air conditioner made noise for the entire night. It was impossible to sleep. when i called downstairs to ask for assistance, they said that there were no non-noisy rooms left. They seemed fully aware that their AC units could drive people insane! The room was very small, especially the bathroom.

To add insult to injury, after i checked out following my first night's stay, they charged me for 2 NIGHTS.

Pros: location ( close to shopping, times square, central park, grand central station)
Cons: small dark elevators, narrow dark hallways, tiny dark rooms, loudest A/C unit on the planet, unusual bathroom doors (don't fully close, can still see someone on the toilet when sitting in bed), no room to store luggage, housekeeping walks in unannounced, and no fan in the bathroom (showers leave the room sweating and steaming).

Surprisingly good hotel, really clean, nice decor, staff really friendly.

Stayed here for 10nights, only small complaint is the noisy A/C BUT it was ok really. Main thing is it was easy to control and kept our room cool.

Bar/restaurant is also very good, free coffee is good but there is better alternative at Gregory's coffee 2mins walk.

Location is great for shopping and for getting to Central Park. We booked a suite which was a good size and comfortable for 2 adults & baby!

Room Tip: Yeat's room on the 12th floor is a good sized suite away from any noise.

I'd thoroughly recommend the Mansfield Hotel in New York. It's a small hotel and very centrally located not far from Times Square. The rooms, although not huge, are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The space tends to be saved in the bathrooms so if you want a room with a bath you should ask for it. The food in the little bar is excellent although the menu is not extensive. They have fresh coffee available from an expresso machine in their sitting room 24/24 - a must if you suffer from jet lag! The staff were very helpful and charming. If you are looking for a nice boutique hotel, great value for money and very centrally located this would be a good choice.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a bath you should ask for it. The rooms are not huge and the space tends to...
