“FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

We loved staying at The Franklin. The location and the price were perfect. We wanted the Upper East Side to be close to my daughter at 92Yand to be within walking distance of Museum Mile, Subways, shopping areas and my favorite -Shake Shack – a MUST!!. The staff was fantastic, efficient and accommodating. We had the king size room on the 9th floor and it was very clean and spacious. Free light breakfast in the morning and wine/cheese every evening. From the airport took the Carmel Limo Service, which delivered you right to the front door, Very elegant!

Will definitely we go back to that location.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floor - less noise Recommend you stay in the King Size Room

We loved staying at The Franklin. The location and the price were perfect for us. We wanted the Upper East Side and to be within walking distance of Museum Mile. The staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. We enjoyed having breakfast in the mornings and caught wine and cheese in the evening on several occasions. I prefer smaller hotels and enjoy the quirks and character of older buildings. The staff adds to the charm of the experience. Their service was impeccable. The beds are super comfortable with clean, fluffy linens and the bathroom has modern fixtures, great lighting and full sized, thick towels.

Our room was so small there was literally no room on the floor to put our suitcases. The bed took up the entire room. We had to put the suitcases on the desk. The "closet" was 6 inches wide, not even a closet but a small appendage to the wall. The bathroom was also tiny, with a miniature sink, no place to put your cosmetics, and no towel bars. I had no idea, from the previous reviews, that this place was so tired looking and depressing. I felt claustrophobic in the lobby, the elevator, and the corridors. The so-called breakfast included with the price was basically some muffins and juice. Our total price of $355 for the night seemed outrageous. We moved to the Marriott Residence Inn on 48th and Lexington for $385/night for a very nice King Studio room, including a terrific hot breakfast, lovely lobby and TV area, etc.

We stayed for two nights on a recent weekend. The staff was very friendly. This is an old hotel, so the lobby is very small and the elevator is old. It took a while to figure out how to get out of it. You need to push! They should put a sign on it! There is a complementary continental breakfast with cereal, fruit, croissants, and juice. It is suitable and worked well for us. There is a pleasant front room to sit and relax. Every evening, there is complimentary wine and cheese at 5:00. I asked if my daughter and husband could join us since they live near by and the person at the desk said yes. I thought that was very nice. We met interesting people from all over during this event. We stayed in a room with a king sized bed. It was very comfortable. The room is small, but it was enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a decent size also. Each room has a window air conditioner, so you can adjust your temperature. This hotel is walking distance to the major museums on Fifth Avenue and to Central Park. I would stay here again, though the rates are a bit high.

While I'd love to review the Franklin, I can't. I received a call a few hours before checking in informing me that "due to reasons beyond their control" there was no room available for me and that they were moving me to a different hotel. This other hotel was very inconveniently located for the meeting I was attending and I spent much of my time taking unexpected cab rides instead of a leisurely stroll from the Franklin to the meeting venue.

Stayed here for a week in November 2013 and it was brill great location close to everything. The room was very romantic with fab lighting and all the usual amenities it was a little cramped but all new york hotels seem to be cramped haha, Very friendly staff and complimentry tea/coffee through out the day which was a nice touch.
