“Good value in NYC”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We stayed at the Belvedere for 4 nights in February.
The location is perfect for Times Square / Broadway.
The hotel is very clean, with attentive and hard working staff.
Rooms are very good, with plenty of space and a comfy bed.
We didn't use the restaurant.
The lifts are old and dark, but not a problem.
There is quite a lot of traffic noise at night, but this New York - you'll get traffic noise wherever you stay.

The hotel is within two blocks of Times Square, also within four blocks of the Gershwin Theater (Wicked) and the Broadway Theater (Cinderella). Short walk to Rockefeller Plaza and Carnegie Deli. The neighborhood is safe and the exterior is charming.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. One doorman walked around the block to flag a taxi for us. Others went out of their way to make friendly conversation.

The lobby gave a nice impression, but as soon as you step into the elevator and exit in the corridors of the upper floors, things feel a bit cramped.

The entire corridor (of one of the upper floors) had a very strong odor, not a bad odor, but strong- as of a curry restaurant.

The room was fine, nothing fancy or new. The beds were a bit flimsy, coverlet seemed a bit grimy. Bathroom was small with a vintage hair dryer (think small, rectangular and very loud).

The swamp cooler in the window was the one detail that took the ambiance down a notch.

Me and 8 colleagues of mine decided to sped a New Years night in New York. We ended up choosing this hotel because of its fantastic location. Yes it's right by Times Square ... Just 5-7 min walk. If you are tourist and want to see main place in NYC this is the perfect place. Plenty of places for nights out or restaurants.
The hotel is clean and rooms a really clean and tidy. As you can imagine catching ataxi outside hotel is peace of cake and staff always helps.
I didn't try hotel kitchen or bars. There is a souvenir shop inside with a good price for everything for example T-Shirts I love NY u can get anything in there.
Bad points: lifts are really slow. Reception manager was rude at some point. Other wise if you want a central New York hotel. I would recomend The Belvedere Hotel New York.

What a wonderful hotel. Fine rooms, great staff & quality service just 2 - 3 blocks from NYC's Time Square & the Theater District. We were attending a Holiday Party at the Copacabana just 2 blocks away. Dinning Breakfast Buffet great selections & price reasonable.

Room Tip: Valet Parking

The Belvedere Hotel is located a few blocks from Time Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Catch the subway that runs down Manhattan to Battery Park (Ellis Island dock) and up to Central Park. Easy walking distance for many sights, including Broadway theaters.
Hotel is small and quaint but very clean and staff is friendly. We stayed in a deluxe room, it was clean and not shabby looking. The room included a microwave, small refrigerator and bathroom (not all hotels have bathrooms in the room). The room fit 4 adults comfortably. I will stay there again if I ever make it back to New York.

Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Belvedere. I got the recommendation from the Pearl (part of the same hotel company). I paid small amount extra for a room on the executive floors which have been recently and very tastefully remodeled and included free wi-fi. The hotel is very clean and the rooms on the upper floors were sound-proof. Great beds, lots of walking space (a rarity in NYC hotels), iphone dock, marble foyer, kitchen area and bathroom were beautifully remodeled. It even had a huge closet with a safe and robes! Kitchen area included small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, sink and storage cabinet. This can save alot on meals and it was great to store drinks and leftovers. The check-in & check-out was easy and quick. The front desk staff were pleasant and excellent. We were able to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out with no additional charge. They gave us a key to use the private bathrooms on the first floor to clean up after a long flight. The doorman were efficent! Never needed to open the door, they were always ready to assist! The concierge was very helpful with information and reservations.

There was an issue was related to the cable TV. Several major channels were unable for viewing for the first several days of our stay. We were told this was an area wide problem and would be resolved soon. I expected some follow-up. After making calls daily to the desk to see if it was resolved, they finally sent the engineer back to re-program the TV and they were working, Yea!! I suspect they were working days before. The hotel engineer was great (Anthony)! I would recommend using the latch on the door in the morning because several days the maid tried to get in even with the privacy sign up. The room was usually too warm, even with the heat off, but the air conditioner was great!

Overall I would highly recommend The Belvedere for good value near times square and restaurants of Hell's Kitchen. The area is busy, but this is Manhattan. Subway stop is within 1 block. Theaters are all walking distance. Some construction on the corner nearby. Small grocery store (food emporium) is 1 block away.

Some recommended restaurants nearby: Stecchino (Italian), Tartina (Italian), John's Pizza and Shake Shack.

Room Tip: Spend a bit extra for the newly remodeled Executive floor rooms which include wi-fi.
