“Classy Hotel!”
Reviewed October 17, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had a great 5-night stay in this lovely hotel from 10-15 October. We loved our Queen Room which was delightfully furnished and had such a comfy bed. The only thing missing was a view - we looked out onto a building which was so high that we couldn't tell what kind of a day it was before going outside. However, we could not fault anything else- the location was perfect, just round the corner from Times Square and central for all the attractions, the hotel staff were so friendly and helpful and all of these things added to our enjoyment. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the mornings which set us up for the day. Our stay ended all too soon but we hope to visit again. Next time you're in the Big Apple don't miss this wonderful hotel!

My wife and I stayed at the Algonquin 10/12 to 10/14/2013. Hotel is older with small rooms in a great location. Service was warm and professional. The entire staff was helpful ,courteous and alert to the needs of guests. While small the room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. This was our adult weekend w/o children. This venue offers the best of an intimate New York. Make sure that you visit the Blue Bar for a French 75 . A great value for a couple looking for a historical romantic nyc weekend. And my wife agrees!!!

This is not just a place to stay, this is an experience. I'll leave you to do research on the hotel's past. Let it suffice to say it is a history lesson.

The hotel is immaculate. They actually have staff to help you with your luggage and to assist you in any and every way possible. In an era of "hire anyone to work the front desk" these are professionals who do this as a career not just as a job.

It is more than just obvious that everyone who works here likes what they do and enjoys taking care of people. They're proud of their jobs and the work they do and it shows.

I only had breakfast but it was worth every penny. Coffee that tasted like it is supposed to taste. Strong, flavorful and not bitter. Same thing for the orange juice.

The room? Spectacular. Appropriately appointed, exceptionally comfortable. If you're expecting a room the size of Texas ...keep looking. This is "NYC sized"--small for some but perfectly appointed and with everything you could ask for in a hotel room. And come on.....did you really come to NYC to stay in the hotel? Really?

Cheap? No. You could find a room for 1/3rd less....but this is much more than a room, this is a hotel as it is supposed to be and it is an experience.

Stop, stay, enjoy, feel pampered. You'll be back. I know I will.

Room Tip: I can't imagine there would be a bad room in this hotel

I stayed for one night. Absolutely loved this hotel. Great location. Close enough to walk to Times Square in five to ten minutes. The room was small but very lovely and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The décor was excellent and included key amenities such as a ipod/iphone docking station. The hotel also came with free Wi-Fi. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and made you feel at home. They took special care to remember the guests. I would definitely stay again.

Small rooms but the hotel is upscale all around. We also enjoyed breakfast and the Starbucks coffee in the lobby. Historic and quaint place. The staff is well trained and friendly. Will check pricing and love to stay here again on next visit to NYC.

Stayed here 4 nights and found it to be satisfactory. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean. The restaurant and bar are "New York" pricey but the lounge has a great atmosphere. The location is great for visiting Times Square, Top of the Rock and other attractions. Would definitely stay here again if we can find the right deal.

Charming hotel steps from Times Square. The rooms are tiny but so are the majority of hotel rooms in NYC. The hotel has a historical, cozy, and luxurious feel to it; they have kept it up-to-date but without losing its character...I loved how I "felt" staying here! My favorite part was being greeted by "Matilda" the Algonquin cat..so cute, she seems to just wait by the door for you!
