Walked everywhere from here. It's a noisy position but not over the top. The rooms were older but in great condition and the bed was comfy. Bar downstairs ok but there is better. Opposite Madison square garden so can get busy downstairs with an event. Would return

I did not stay at this hotel but recently received amazing service from Jenna nordstrom.

My friend and I needed to print something off very quickly and tried going to hotel Pennsylvania first but they were extremely unhelpful and unfriendly.

The staff at affinia saw that we were in a major rush and helped us out even though we weren't even staying there. I'm sure they are just as hospitable to people staying there.

Thanks again hotel affinia!

Interacted with four staff members and all were friendly and professional. Many hotels in Manhattan have micro rooms. The Affinia has an abundance of good size rooms if one selects their studio or bedroom suites. It does not break the bank to get a decent sized room with bedroom/area and sitting area. The hotel's convenience and location is hard to beat in NYC. Room service is speedy, food was good, hallway dish removal was quick. They do a nice one hour complimentary wine service for guests in the evening. The wine was good and the relaxed atmosphere prompted nice, unobtrusive, interaction/camaraderie amongst guests. Hotel was clean and bedding well done. Towels could have been a size bigger. Bathroom is small, but works fine.

Room Tip: Opt for a studio or larger room and you will be likely to have a very good experience.

As many others have mentioned, the location is perfect. This hotel is 10 blocks from Times Square and across from Penn Station, and Madison Square Gardens. We booked a suit and requested a quiet room and got exactly what we asked for. Our suit was on the 7th floor and while originally dismayed at the lack of view, we were recompensed with a great night's sleep. Seeing that we were out on both nights until 4 AM, enjoying the best that Manhattan had to offer, it was nice to be able to sleep in until noon without interruption from street noise.

This hotel comes highly recommended, it was a quick cab ride uptown for dinner and a show, as well as into meat packing and so-ho for partying, we're definitely staying here again.

p.s. We dealt with Jonathan at the front desk and after discussing our needs, he was able to set us up with the ideal room.

Room Tip: Talk to the front desk about your needs. I read some reviews where people were complaining about noi...

The hotel has a great location, right across Penn Station. Took the NYC hotel week offer to stay there. Requested a quiet room (I'm a light sleeper). Clerk gave me a room on the 3rd floor, right above the lobby. Could hear the lobby music playing all night. I felt I was being downgraded (downstairs vs. upstairs) because of my ethnicity. What she didn't know was my profession (doctor of medicine). I would advise NOT staying here if you don't have the "right" skin color. Not a good experience.

This hotel is on the corner of 7th Ave and 31st Street and is located just in front of the NY Penn Station . It is is about 14 streets away from Times Square and Broadway Theatre areas. The location is superb ! However, when I called for a replenishment of Lavazza coffee packets and some amenities, it took me 4 calls to the guest services and a total of 50 minutes waiting time for the requested items to be given . The central Post Office is located a block from Affinia, along 8th Ave . just on the other end of the Penn Station . The Empire state building is about 3 blocks away . Do not expect a spectacular view , because there is none. They too have a nice restaurant Niles located by the entrance.

We stayed here in December for 5 nights on a room only basis. There are a lot of positives to this hotel. The location is great, pretty much opposite Penn station making it easy to get to from the airport and around the city. They do a free wine hour each night but we only made it once after checking in. The concierge was helpful suggesting places for breakfast and providing maps. But there were a few niggles too, check in took about 15minutes. After 10 hours of travelling this is a little irritating. The man checking us in just disappeared, when he eventually returned he muttered something about getting his boss to unlock rooms. We hadn't arrived before check in times opened so it was puzzling why there wasn't a room especially as two other couples managed to check in in the time we were waiting.

We booked a superior room which was huge, a big bed, sofa, chair, and a separate area which had a desk and a fridge. There was also a wardrobe area with a free safe. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us which was a nice touch.

The bathroom was tiny, ridiculously so. One person could fit in there with the sink, toilet and shower surrounding you. There was no heating in the bathroom meaning soggy towels and freezing feet on the tiled floor. It was very draughty in the main room due to single glazing but keeping the blinds down and the heating up countered this.

The room was tidied every day and kept clean. There seemed to be a problem with the key cards wiping out and not letting you in the room. We had this happen once but it was fixed straight away.

We would stay again but wouldn't pay extra for a superior room.
