Hotel very very tired. Could do with a total refit. The rooms were poor and double beds never were double beds. Bathroom was clean but tiles coming off the walls and whoever was underneath must have shared our shower. Staff ok but not top of the polite people's list. There was a big guy behind the concierge desk that was great and gave good advice on restaurants and taxis.

But if you spend a bit more you can have a better time. Give it a miss if you can afford it.

The rooms are quite nice, pretty big, very comfy beds. but that's about it.

the service is horrible, the front desk willingness to help is less then 0, they treat you as if you are there for free or as if you hurt them at some point of your life.

any request is being answered with a sore tone, the kind a mad teacher points to you, the bathroom in the lobby is disgusting, the AC unit (very important for those who visit in July) was hardly working and is very old and noisy, the only team staff i liked was the cleaning lady who was very nice and was tipped as such.

i paid over 200$ a night to be treated as if i had done something wrong to stay there. so i guess i did something wrong - and will not be staying there again.

overall this was a very poor time (i was in the hotel for 14 days for business meetings) and i am surely will not be back.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel !

I hadn't stayed at this hotel in quite a while but was really shocked to see how bad it has gotten. Let me start though by stating the positives: Location and price (That's it!)

Cons:
Check in was fine but then I went up to my room to find:
1) Mold all over the shower tile (Either house keeping is blind or lazy)
2) Toilet that was leaking and kept refilling loudly throughout the night
3) Paper thin walls as I heard room conversations next to me like I was in their room
4) Very loud door slamming throughout the night
5) They have a computer desk in the room but no place to plug it or my phone in (brilliant!)
6) Ripped chair in my room
7) Work out room had 4 Elliptical Machines, all with "Out of Order" signs (Way to save money!)
8) No towels in the work out room
9) Major construction on the floor where the work out room is as they tear out the pool to add more rooms. DO NOT let them put you on the 5th floor with all the construction
10) Although the weather was cool in NYC while I was there in late July, the AC never cooled down to the temperature I had it set on.
11) Sink stopped up and drained very slowly in the bathroom
12) Shower faucet leaked after shutting it off.

The 2 star rating is generous for all the problems I had with this property but the location is fantastic which brought it from 1 star to 2.

Location, location, location! The Manhattan @ Times Square Hotel is where you want to be. Its not the fanciest of hotel's, but its got a friendly polite staff who truly try to please. The rooms are nice size, clean, comfortable with the amenities, large flat screen with movies & Wi Fi, in room coffee, hair dryer, iron & board, & comfy beds with a better bathroom. Most people go to "The Big Apple" to see the sights, not to stay in the room. You can book an upper scale hotel in the same area or use the $100 to $200 a night savings for your trip. We liked the hotel, its location, the room & the staff. Your only a few blocks from Times Square, Central Park, theaters, restaurants, everything. Now the draw backs. The hotel has a small lobby, so things can get crowded. The hotel is being remodeled so some floors have construction. Stay away from the 5th floor. No more pool, more rooms. We stayed on the 12th (1207) with a nice view of 7th St, Times Square to the right & Central Park to the left. Depending on where you book, you can pick your own stuff including Continental Breakfast.

Room Tip: Try for a front room on an upper floor. The rooms are nice sized when compared to other area hotel...

Relatively clean, provided the basics, but but didn't go above or beyond what any other hotel would offer. Couldn't check in until 8:30 p.m. when we arrived because our room wasn't ready, for which we received no compensation. Comfortable beds. Centrally located which was a plus for us. Okay hotel, but not sure we'd choose to stay here again.

We booked 2 rooms for our family through Hotwire. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation due to an error by Hotwire. Good thing I printed out my confirmation ahead of time. The hotel was able to give us 2 adjoining rooms, which we were grateful for since they were booked up.

Pros:
- awesome location- close to Times Square and Theatre district
- pretty clean considering age of hotel
- check in/ out relatively smooth

Cons:
- "free wifi" is only in tiny lobby which was constantly packed with people. Otherwise, it is $14.95. My huband needed to use the "business center" but the computers were being used by kids playing video games. The printer was slso broken.
- the tub and sink both had slow leaks. We asked the front desk to send up Draino, but nothing changed during the duration of out stay. It smelled like a sewer.
- housekeeping felt it necessary to vacuum the hallways at 8am, talk loudly amongst themselves, and check our room to see if we were ready for service. We were still sleeping.
- parking was $50 per day since we have a truck and it is considered "oversized".

A brief.
Location:- Excellent. Close to TSquare, lots of eateries, convenience stores nearby.
Room:- Was alone, and felt roomy enough. On a high floor, view as you'd expect for NYC, still nice to see the lights of town and have no noise. Not however cleaned to a very high standard and the bathroom needed a wipe over.
Service:- Poor and unorginised. Some members of staff had a bad attitude when asked for something simple like subway directions. The same thing was repeated -at- me until I gave in trying to explain. Check out was painfully slow. Check in was anything but warm and friendly.
It really bothered me throughout - the mis-information I was given (Underquoted by half an hour on how far to the airport, resulting in a tight journey.) The person who corrected me on this seemed to find it amusing. And the general poor attitude to customer service.
It would put me off staying again when there are so many hotel in nyc happy for the business and tips .
