“Great location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

We checked into this hotel for the last night of our trip, decided to extend our visit to NYC an extra day & got an excellent price for the Manhattan on Hotwire.
We were very pleasantly surprised, location was excellent, staff were very friendly & helpful! Especially Tim in the lobby, super nice & went out of his way offer help or advice.
The only complaint we had was other guests a few rooms down who felt they could take over the hotel & were so noisy with their children running the halls after midnight. Front desk staff were very apologetic & tried their best to deal with the situation when we called to complain. It's not the hotel's fault and they did try their best to deal with it by sending security when we called.

We would definitely stay here again! Rooms were spacious & more than adequate, very clean, staff friendly & helpful. Location could not be better! Amazing deal through Hotwire!

Excellent staff on arrival. We were on the 17th floor at the end of a corridor. The room itself was huge with a big bed, chair to relax in as well as a desk. I had a really comfortable nights sleep and I think due to being so high up, you could only just hear the buzz of the streets below. I had packed earplugs as I am a light sleeper but didn't need them. The bathroom has a fixed shower over the bath, which I always hate, but it was clean. The bathroom was a bit tatty in places and needs a refurb though, although from what I hear a refurb is planned. This wouldn't stop me returning to the hotel however, because every staff member we encountered, couldn't do more for us and were very helpful. I'd also prefer a kettle to a coffee machine in the room because the coffee tasted gross, but that's just me. It would also have been nice for their to have been an in-room guide to the hotel to inform you of the hotel's facilities and locations, like the fitness centre for example.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor if you want to be above the noise of the streets and Times Square is a very bus...

I stayed here on the 7-12th of march, but before my visit I was reading the reviews on here and wondering if I had made a mistake on picking this hotel.. But I was not disappointed one bit! The staff were really friendly and would help us on how to get to certain places. The hotel is spotless so ignore the uncleaness people say the hotel is, the location is amazing! 2 min walk to the main Times Square and a 5min walk to Central Park and very close to all your shopping destinations. Our room was really spacious for 2 of us the beds are soooo comfty! On my next stay at New York I am CERTAINLY staying here again it was amazing!

This hotel was used for a teen school trip that I led. The location was great and convenient. Close to Times Square but not in it.It was not noisy and the staff was helpful when asked. You had to be specific in your request and nothing was offered. They have flat screen TVs in the rooms and a coffee machine but that's it. Water pressure was good, the elevators ran, plenty of hot water and closets and dressers were roomy (we were there for 5 days.) No restaurant in the hotel but no problem as there are many options within a block. No complaints from the students or from me, just not anything special

Room Tip: Try to request rooms away from 7th Avenue

Just returned from a trip to New York for a conference, which took place across the street from the Manhattan at the Sheraton. Upon checking in, we were informed that all double bed rooms were booked. This was a problem, as I was traveling with six undergraduate students and only had three rooms. Rather than say, "sorry about your bad luck," the receptionist, Valerie, called housekeeping, had them get to some of the dirty rooms early, and got us into our rooms.

Upon checking out four days later, we learned that our flight had been delayed three hours, and that we would not be getting out of New York City until midnight. With nowhere else to go, my six students and I -- along with another eight students and a staff adviser from the campus radio and TV stations -- all hunkered down in the lobby. We ordered pizza to the lobby. Rather than kick us to the curb or ask us when we were leaving, the manager, Keith Homes, jokingly asked us if we had brought pizza for him, and then supplied water for all of us to go with the pies.

The staff at the Manhattan could not have been more accommodating. They were a pleasure to work with.

We recently stayed in the Manahattan at Times Square March 7 - 9 2013. The room was clean and had a large flat screen TV. We had a view of 7th Avenue and it was great. The bathroom was a little small but that was our only complaint. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were not disappointed in the way they handled parking our car. They parked the car and returned it in a timely manner. Great location, we would like to return sometime.

Room Tip: Less noise on the 12 th floor.

Dark, depressing, noisy, hot. Those will be the words I use to describe the hotel whenever anyone asks. I understand it's an old building, but that doesn't mean I should suffer through an exceptionally hot couple of nights with a window that doesn't open (although they said they should) in TWO rooms (I moved from the first oven).
The second night, an elevator was in distress and it screeched a noise throughout the entire building, over and over and over for hours. The front desk said no one was compaining, yet we were talking to other guests - who had come out of their rooms into the halls - wondering WTH was happening. When all was said and done, I got about 5 hours sleep the night before one of the biggest days of my career. Thanks for that, I was miserable.
The hotel could not be more depressing. Beige, boring, uncomfortable beds, no conveniently located power outlets, and lights that were less powerful than my cell phone flashlight.
If nothing else, the front desk& bell staff were very polite, begged for forgiveness, said the hotel will have a $30 million renovation soon, and comp'ed our final night.

Room Tip: If you do go, the staff says ask for a corner room. Slightly bigger, more windows. Stay off the 2...
