The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel

Superb location which makes up for it's average room amenities, and less than comfortable beds. We weren't able to adjust our thermostat so that made for a dry sleep. We all woke up thirsty. As with any hotel in NYC, the room is small. The TV was decent but fumbling with remote and trying to make it work just frustrated us, so we turned it off. There were holes in the wall but high enough not to be a problem. If you're looking to be near Rockefeller Center, NBC studios, Top of the Rock or a short walk to Times Square and you're on a budget, then this is your place. We stayed the night b/f the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade which made it a prime location.

I just spent a week at The Manhattan at Times Square in New York. The location is great just a couple of blocks from the Rockefeller Center and Times Square. Subway just around the corner and tons of places to dine. But that is the only advantage of this hotel.
The staff is unavailable and indifferent to the guests. The lobby is so busy it feels like being at Grand Central.
They booked the wrong room and were rude when it was pointed out.
The concierge is as helpful as they want to be and once when I asked them about restaurants around the area they actually told me to look them up at the free internet at the lobby.
Do not book any transportation recommended at the hotel, they are unreliable and will charge you ridiculous fares if you don't agree upon them in advance.
If you are willing to pay for the location that's the place to go. Otherwise get a more reasonable place a little farther or a better hotel altogether just across the street (the Sheraton).

Room Tip: Make sure to get a confirmation email from them with all the details of the room or they will check...

Very good hotel, good service, good crew. I will complain about free internet, you are allowed to use up to 45min straight, but they have only 3 computers and lots of customers. The time should be reduced so more people could use it.
When you make your reservation remember that you will pay daily extra tax: $2 + $1,5 + 5,8% + 8,8%. If you will use a travel agency make sure tax are included (you will pay those taxes at all hotel in Manhattan.

The hotel is quite tired and gloomy. Reception always crammed and noisy Room basically fine. I had the misfortune to be right by the lifts which you could hear all night through the walls so had to sleep with earplugs in. Avoid room 18 on any floor if you can. Free wifi in the lobby worked if not too many people about. Staff a little curt. Good location though.

I am in my room at the Manhattan at 11pm, and my room is very warm. my room was very warm so I turned the air conditioning on a couple hours ago and it appeared to be broken. I called the front desk and they told the that the air conditioning system has been turned off for the winter, but they would be glad to send someone to my room to open my windows - which over look 7th Ave! This is ridiculous - either sleep in a hot room or listen to cars and horns all night.

Based on the reviews I read I was anxious that I had made a bad choice, but the Manhatten hotel -Times Square was a great choice. The location can not be eat. We were able to walk to Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and Central park. It is one block away from a subway station. There is no in room wi-fi. but we did not find it to be a problem. The computers in the lobby were available at various times during the day. Staff was helpful Two week after Sandy we had alot of questions about what was or wasnt happening and staff was great. . We got a double bed room. It was clean and in good shape. If you want a quiet room , no outside or hall noise ask for 2129, it was a great room.

After reading reviews, I had low expectations for this hotel - it far exceeded those expectations. Tired, yes. In need of maintenance, yes. But immaculately clean, a modern and open lobby, pleasant service and reasonably priced.
