“If you are going to NYC for business...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

The hotel is very nicely, modern decorated. But, if you are going for business it is too hard to get in and out of because of all the tourist on Time Square. If you are going because of Time Square, this is the place! The room was comfortable but, the walls are paper thin. We could hear the neighbors coughing and talking when they were laughing. We were thankful they did stay up late or for screaming children! The door to the room's bathroom was sliding glass and did not contain noises coming from there either.
The concierge breakfast was outstanding because of the view you had looking at Time Square.
All in all I liked this hotel better than the Marriott Marquis next door........as long as you ask for floors 20 to 26! The street noise would be too loud otherwise.

I recently attended a conference in Midtown Manhattan and stayed three nights at the Renaissance Times Square. It is a gem. For those looking for the touristy and/or theater stuff, you are right in the middle of the action. If your business is in Midtown, everything is close by. The rooms are by New York standards very well-sized. The room rate was very reasonable, and the hotel, despite being filled to the rafters, was very quiet. The staff was very professional and very helpful. This is simply a great place to stay!

We stayed here with a group last week and I wasn't sure what to expect from a hotel right in the middle of Times Square. I was completely surprised by how nice it was, how big the rooms were, how quiet the rooms were, how convenient the location was, and how reasonable the rate was for such a nice hotel. Loved everything about it and would stay here again in a second!

We spent one night here in early February, moving from another commercial hotel in the city, and were so pleasantly surprised. A boutique style hotel in an art deco decor. Warm and friendly reception
and most comfortable accommodations. Dining room food and service were wonderful.
We try to go to NY once a year for my birthday and this will be our hotel of choice from now on.

Room Tip: High if you want great views

The Renaissance is absolutely a wonderful place to stay! It's right in the heart on time square which gives you plenty to do. Excellent service, excellent rooms. No complaints. Although a bit expensive your getting what you paid for.

Renaissance Times square is one of the better hotels in NYC, the rooms are larger and more spacious than many of the new hotels and if you are above the 15th floor, you will not hear a peep of the times square crowds. I have stayed at this hotel perhaps 9 times over the past two years and it is the hotel of choice for my NYC stays. Some of the better parts of the hotel: Michael and Anna in the club lounge always treat me like a member of the family. The lounge overlooks the square and the TKTS office and the views are spectacular. The free breakfast for elite members if pretty good (used to be better) and consists of baked goods, juice, toast, scrambled eggs and perhaps the worst french toast you will ever eat... they used to have bacon and sausages but no longer, Coffee is good and strong and the tea selection is excellent, The other benefit since there is no regular lounge is that during the week you will get a coupon for free apps at the lounge and some of them (lobster slides, double fried chicken wings, steak and cheese sliders, burgers..etc) are enough for a meal. The rooms are comfy although be warned, there are no bathtubs in the hotel in the king size rooms. It is curious because the rooms are really nice but showers only. Also, the new towels that the renaissance are using now can be rough and worn.
On the down side: parking is crazy (about $20 for valet parking more than if you parked the vehicle yourself in the same lot) so count on about $58 a night for parking with NO in and out privileges) and checking out could use some work. Some of the newer staff are kind of clueless and suggested I submit my tax free form to housekeeping ?(!). Excuse me? Oh, book keeping. I was checked out by someone else (no one could tell me who) before my late check out time. There are things that can use improvement even though this hotel is very good overall.
perhaps the weakest part is the concierge who is on the phone constantly and if you need help booking a place, is not able to do any more for you than call up theater mania.com (I can do that myself) or get a table at a restaurant. So basically the concierge knows how to use the internet. Shockingly enough so do I.. so book whatever you nee on opentable.com or theatermania to find tickets because this concierge has no influence or pull...
