Upon arriving at 8pm on a Monday there were no rooms available due to a significant number of housekeeping staff calling out sick and the hotel being fully booked that night. There were understandably a lot of unhappy people waiting to check in, myself included, but the handling of the situation by the staff was excellent, and up to the standard you would expect from such a property. They were up front about what was going on, offered an ETA on the rooms and offered drink vouchers and other amenities to help make it as palatable as possible.
When we did finally get our room it was a very basic, small queen room but everything was very recently renovated and exactly what you would expect for a room in midtown Manhattan. The gym offered 7-8 treadmills as well as bikes and ellipticals along with weight machines and free weights.
I think the day we checked in was unfortunately a perfect storm for the hotel staff, but given how they handled such a tough situation, I would absolutely not hesitate to stay again.More
