“Great Hotel! Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

What a great Location! Times Square is right on your doorstep.
Lovely big room! Nice view over Times Square. Very comfortable bed.
We arrived around 11am & despite the early arrival, we were told that our room was available & so we were able to drop our bags in our room & go out & explore.
Staff were helpful & friendly & despite the close proximity to all the action, we were not disturbed by any noise.
Really had no complaints & we would be more than happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Times Square. Splurge on dinner in the revolving restaurant on about the 48th flo...

I have stayed here on multiple occasions and this hotel offers a great location in the heart of New York City. I used rewards points to get two rooms for a family birthday and they accommodated us with rooms next to each other. I was a little disappointed with the view given (rewards platinum) and the rooms state they have queen beds but they seemed a little small although comfortable. Staff for the most part was very nice and the hotel has everything you need just bring your wallet as things are expensive.

My family of 4 ( 2 kids ages 11 and 9) stayed here last year around the same time and had a great stay then and now. This is a massive hotel (some 1700+ rooms) in the heart of Times Square. Near subway lines, a short walk to Penn Station, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Highline Park... You get the picture! Well run with efficient, kind staff, I cannot think of a better palace to stay in NYC when you factor in price, location, quality. They have a large, clean fitness center, a restaurant / lounge at the top that rotates around so you can see the city lights at night while having an adult beverage. Several additional lounges and restaurant on the 8th floor. A Starbucks on the ground floor and another coffee shop (serve Starbucks coffee too)/gift store/mini store for items you might have forgotten. Right accross the street is Juniors Cheesecake and johns pizza on 44th street (really good thin crust, coal-fired pizza in an old church )- don't miss either! If you have a smartphone, download the NYC subway app (mxapps). Used this app a bunch to navigate the sometimes confusing subway system and it was very helpful. Get a Times Square view room... The lights are so bright at night you need to close the curtains otherwise its too bright to sleep! Too cool...

Stayed in this Marriott last week on a short break to New York, changed hotels at the last minute from another hotel when we realised the rooms here were much bigger. Hotel has a fabulous lobby with eight glass lifts going to the 45th floor, lots of fun to ride. King room was very large for NY standards and very comfortable bed. Floor to ceiling windows gave a great view of the city from the 44th Floor. The location of this hotel is fantastic - right in the middle of Times Square you walk out of the lobby and are at the centre of all the action. Sadly we missed out on a cocktail at The View rotating restaurant at the top of the hotel as we just ran out of time. Not the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in but did the job perfectly and we would return.

Room Tip: If you don't suffer from vertigo ask for a room on a high floor to make the most of the spectacu...

If your dream come true and you have already landed for the first time in New York you can not imagine better location of hotel than Marriott Marquis. Once checked in you are in a very deep heart of Manhattan, in the middle of Times Square having all famous postcard things and views from New York just around you: all high buidings with very colourful iluminations at Times Square, Broadway and its theatres, 5th Avenue, 6 and 7th Avenue, Central Park, Empire State Building etc. All you can reach with walking distance. You will be suprised while arriving to the hotel: lobby and check-in/out counters are located at 8th floor, You have a dozen lifts taking you up and down and still always with plenty of people . Now the system of lifts is very efficient but still I rememeber the times in the past (couple of years ago) when you had to hunt (yes !) for a lift. That was really a horror. Once you are inside of a hotel we have a feeling to be inside of hotel factory. So many guests and people around you. No surprise as they offer about 40 floors with many rooms at each. Many rooms have a fantastic view at both ends of Times Square so when you land in your room and look thru your windows you will have immediately a 'wow smile' on your face. You can not stand not to take photos immediately. When you leave hotel for the first time to the street you will be also fully amazed by all flashing lights and very multinational crowds of Times Square. Hotel is really expensive but then you will understand what you are paying for ! The night bar at 8th floor is also something very unforgettable. Just take a seat by the window and admire the heart of New York which actually never goes to sleep (but bar is closed at 1 am)

Room Tip: Obviously please aks for rooms at higher floors (if you like) with view to Times Square. Make sure t...

I stayed here for 3 nights just the week prior to Superstorm Sandy. I had not been to this hotel in almost a decade...first impressions: freshly remodeled...but the elevator brass trim makes things look outdated.

I had booked a discounted rate but forgot to bring the proof of eligibility but was having it sent electronically (which was done within minutes of my arrival). The desk clerk was not friendly at all and I wondered if he knew what the word hospitality meant! Even with the "discount", the rate was several hundred dollars per night so I would expect some level of service....he made me feel very unwelcome.

During out stay, service was "ok". Never ate at the hotel...had a glass of wine at the bar & bartender was just "ok".

On the bright side, the location cannot be beat...we walked to Central Park, 5th Avenue & Rockefellar center...and of course, Times Square is "right there"! Our room had a wondeful view of Times Square & one of the rivers....

Bottom line, not sure whether you can chalk the poor customer service up to a "New York attitude" but it is a shame to have such a well located, freshly redone hotel product and allow such poor attitudes from the staff.

Used My husbsnds Marriotts points for myself and friend to stay here for 2 nights in November 2012.
Amazing stay.... Lovely large room right in times square!
Eat in the Broadway lounge and the View lounge - both good value and faultless!
Check in was problem free and elevators are efficiant and fast!! Cannot find a single problem with this amazing hotel..
