I stayed at this property for 2 nights on business. I have stayed at various places around Manhattan and this is my least favorite purely based on location. The Marriott property itself is fine. The rooms were spacious by NY standards. I was on the 31st floor facing the Statue of Liberty by the elevator and my room was very quiet (this is very important to me). The service was acceptable. They were doing repairs to the lobby and the Starbucks located in the building was still closed due to Sandy (that was kind of a bummer). This hotel is located on West street right near the Liberty Tower, 9-11 Memorial, and Battery Park. So for these tourist sites, this is a great location. There is not a lot right around the hotel, you do need to walk several blocks for any restaurants, drug stores, or Starbucks. This trip I didn't take the subway so not sure if there were any stations nearby.
I tried a new restaurant called Super Linda that was good. And I always recommend Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay's place). It is one of my favs.
Purely on location alone, I would stay at this location again for business travel but would not be at the top of the list of hotels for fun UNLESS I got a great rate.
