“Nice location, friendly staff”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

The room itself was very small in a European kind of way. Small but nice, with a nice TV and refrigerator. Very friendly nice service from the front desk, the bellmen and the concierge. When we first discovered that our room was directly across from the elevator, we were a bit worried that it would be very noisy. But it turned out that we didn't even hear a peep - from inside the room you never would have know how close we were. The bed was very comfortable. Couldn't quite figure out the air system. It would at times get a bit chilly, but the bed was cozy and warm so it was just a minor irritation.

Overall it was a very nice stay. Great location, close to the subway and walking distance to many sites.

This hotel was recommended for business by people that my client and I were going to meet. While it was convenient to their offices, so was the Waldorf across the street, where I have stayed previously [on someone elses tab]. The lobby was nice, but the room was nothing special, and it was a corner room. I might have thought more about their use of the term "cozy," read small, to describe the king room.

The bed was comfortable, but there was no water in the room, except for the tap, and the heater made a creaking and groaning sound every time it went on and off, which was frequently. They could also use a lot better soundproofing on the windows, as the streets far below, sounded like they were in the hallway.

As my business companion noted, there are prices, and then there are prices, but $19.00 for two eggs, toast and coffee? Really? But, then again, they want to charge you virtually by the minute for internet access, unless you pay almost $17/day for "unlimited access." Why is it that Best Western and lower budget chains throw this in without charge, but when you are paying hundreds of dollars a night, they try to nickel and dime you for the same service? Let me know when you have an answer for that one, as it is a regular annoyance at the supposedly better chains of hotels.

Room Tip: Get as high up as you can to avoid the street noise, and try to avoid fronting on Lexington Ave.

No services at all. My husband is a platinum for Marriott and we get the worse service.....by experience we know new Yorker are not the most friendly people but when we ask for something, they just do not care.So location is great service is not the one expected for the price

Room Tip: If you do not need a service and can negociate the rate this is ok

The Marriott East Side is an Older Hotel at the corner of Lexington and 48th. The room that I had was very small on the 24th floor. The room was Ok but not the usual well design interior or the Marriott WOW factor. I have nothing to say about the Marriott personnel. Very accommodating and polite. However, for unknown reason they did not want to upgrade me even thought that I am a Platinum member with Marriott. The Gym is well equipped but very small. It ended up being very busy in the morning and even at the end of the afternoon. The concierge lounge is OK located on the 16th floor but again close in the week-end. I personally do not understand why Marriott close the lounge over the wee-end. I am not sure that I would go back. You are located about 15 to 20 min either from Central Park or Time Square and about 10 minutes from UN building. I ended up changingHotel to go to the Marriott Residence around the corner on 48th.

I frequently visit NYC for business and pleasure. This Marriott property is close to some of the city's main attractions (Radio City, Grand Central Station, and a few blocks away from Times Square). The staff was friendly and our room was always clean and comfortable while the noise level from the street was typical for NYC. If you have platinum status, you may certainly enjoy the food/snacks provided at the relaxing lounge upstairs. Overall, I recommend this hotel since I believe it provides a good value for the price.

The location is great, a block from Grand Central Station. Starbucks, a restaurant, and bar on the main floor. 24 hour deli across the street. Surrounded by a lot of fancier hotels also, so there's fun people watching. This is a pretty standard hotel. I've stayed here a few times and I don't have any strong feelings about the place. One time I was stuck in a sad, cold, little room next to the elevator, so that was noisy and made me feel like an indentured servant, but my other stays were much more normal.

We are very satisfied with everything. The room was clean and comfortable, with blackout curtains and no noise! The staff was friendly and the location was close to Grand Central station and Radio City. There are lots of breakfast places all around, as well as good restaurants. We had come for a concert and the hotel was perfect for a late ending.
