As everyone else says the location is the best part about the hotel. Our room was clean and that is always a plus. It was a small room and bathroom but that was ok, we made do and it worked out fine.

Plenty of coffee spots and eateries nearby. No coffee in room or restaurant on site.

One very bad issue not the fault of the hotel was the late night construction across the street. It started at bedtime which was very disturbing to our sleep.

I stayed here for two nights with a friend for a business trip. The room was nothing to write home about but I wasn't planning on being in the room for most of the day. The bed was not very comfortable and the air conditioning unit was quite noisy. Thankfully I had earplugs. The staff was nice but couldn't accommodate our room request for a higher floor unless we paid extra. No thanks. Overall, just an average hotel with a good location.

This hotel is in a good East-midtown location - between Madison and Park Avenues - close to Grand Central. The staff were friendly (except once - see below) and the lobby was attractive. Our room had a king-sized bed that was very comfortable, and the room was clean, and, except for an altercation in the hall one early morning, was quiet. There were an ironing board and iron in the room. For the location, the price was right.

The incident involved a guest who had been locked out her room, and thus her possessions - apparently for non-payment. Much yelling (by the guest at the management/staff) ensued, and for quite some time. This all started in the pre-dawn hours on a Saturday morning - ugh. I'm not sure if the management could have handled this better, but sure wish they could have - as it clearly woke up everybody on that floor. When we called down to the front desk, they seemed at their wit's end - they curtly said "We know! The police have been called." and they hung up - no apology then or later.

Unlike the well appointed lobby, the other common areas of the hotel (halls and elevator waiting areas) appear a bit thread-bare. To our taste, the room was too warm. There was no refrigerator in the room, and the shower was weak.

Overall, those on a budget should consider this hotel, but we intend to look elsewhere.

This hotel is near all the tourist locations in Manhattan!- I was surprised about the location. liked it and was very convenient to me and my family as it was only 4 blocks away from central station !- that connects you everywhere in NYC. but you can walk to major tourist attractions. The hotel was Ok not the best, but good to use it as to sleep only, although the rooms were not as nice as it shows in the pictures. our room was outdated with old tv's, carpets and the phone was so old and broken that it was hard to know what you were pressing!. but other than that the location is great.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding the booking of our recent trip to New York for x4 people staying at the NH Jolly Madison Towers.

When we arrived at the hotel early evening on Thursday we were informed there was a problem with our reservation. On the Hotels booking system it only showed a reservation for one room. We had shown both confirmation slips, however the Hotel assistant stated that this did not prove the hotel had been paid as the booking was taken from an ‘agency’ . He then said as there was not a Manager in at that time he could only go by what was on the computer system.

This was most embarrassing and upsetting, not only from my point of view as it looked like I had only paid for the one room but also for my family members who were worried about having no accommodation and had to stand around in a foyer full of people with their luggage until it was sorted out.

We were finally allocated another room. However my brother (Christopher Key) had to submit credit card details in order to prove he had enough funds to cover the cost, and agree to pay, the full rate for the x3 night stay. I had to insist to the point of almost being rude that I had paid for x2 rooms and asked it to be sorted out when there was a Manager available.

The next morning we left the Hotel quite early, there was no Manager, but we had to go out as we had trips planned for the day and although it was quite late when we returned, again, there was no Manager. However a message (I cannot say for sure if the message was actually from a Manager) was left (on the room telephone ) to say the room was definitely not booked and we would have to pay the full rate. As it was late we could do nothing again until the next morning (Saturday.)

On Saturday morning we were told there was no Manager this time because it was the weekend. However this time, the assistant (a different one) was a little more helpful although it took some time and insistence to explain it all again. Eventually he telephoned the correct person and assured us that it would be sorted and the correct confirmation from the ‘agency’ would be sent to them and we did not have to pay as the booking was now confirmed for both rooms.

When Checking out we came across further problems. Firstly, breakfast had been charged on the second room, which we did not have, this charge was immediately removed. However we did have to pay an ‘Occupancy charge’ on eac

I agree with other reviewers that the furniture was shabby, but the front desk staff were terrific and recommended a great place to eat. I had a good size room with 2 double beds although on the lower floors. Fine for one night. Bathroom and linens were clean and the TV worked.

Everything about my experience was wonderful at this hotel except the bedsheets. They were way over-starched (a problem I've encountered in other places). In the dry air it made me real itchy. Otherwise it was a great place.
