“A delightful stay at a delightful hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Affinia Gardens offers real value for your hard-earned buck. My teenage son and I stayed for three days in a spacious Junior Suite and couldn't have been more comfortable. The two queen size beds were very comfy, a treat to sink into after long days of walking Manhattan. The fully functional kitchen let us save money by eating some meals in, a real boon since we were seeing New York on a budget. Location was good too, with grocery stores, a pharmacy, shops, the subway, etc., close by. Everything was spotlessly clean and in good working order. A few more kitchen utensils would have been nice and, as we our room was located right on 64th Street, there was definitely some noise (nothing the earplugs the hotel provides couldn't muffle quite handily, though) but all in all, Affinia Gardens provided us with a really good home base for our New York stay.

We stayed for 16 nights while in NYC on business. We had a quiet one bedroom suite (on the 8th floor) with two queen beds, large living room with pull out sofa and desk area, bright well appointed bathroom and full kitchen complete with dishes/silverware/glasses, pots, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and oven; a supermarket was only a block away and terrific restaurants and shops were also close by. Our room was cleaned daily. The staff were helpful, courteous, welcoming and made us feel right at home. Special thanks to Kris, our super doorman, who ran to the pharmacy for me when I suddenly became ill and to Caprice, our lovely housekeeper, who kept our room organized and spotless. There is a comfortable new living room area on the first floor and a newly remodeled lobby. We have stayed here before and have never been disappointed. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the quieter street/garden area.

The room felt like a small apt with a fully functional kitchen. It was very clean and comfortable.
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. When my daughter woke up feeling very ill in the middle of the night, the security man, Fitzroy Kennedy, went to the pharmacy twice for us to get what she needed, and was so kind about it that it was like having a friend there when you needed one. The neighborhood felt safe and there were restaurants, pharmacy, grocery store and subway all close at hand. There was some noise from sirens at times from a nearby hospital, but overall it was very quiet and peaceful.

The room was a one bedroom, with two queen beds, plus spacious living room, full kitchen. The staff was thoughtful and helpful. It was quiet (our room was on the back, not on the street). Parking available at a garage in the same block. Close to restaurants, shopping, parks, etc.

The room included a fully functional kitchen, sleeping area with 2 queen beds and a sitting area. There was plenty of space in the room.the beds were importable and the bathrooms clean. They included nice soars and lotions. We were on the second floor and the hallways were quiet. The parking garage is down the street and costs $45 per night.

This is a pet-friendly hotel on the Upper East Side. It's quite lovely, and the room we stayed in was spacious. At the time we made the reservation, we indicated to the hotel that we'd be bringing a cat. When we arrived, they had two bowls, a litter box, some fresh litter and a "meow" mat for our cat ready. This was very nice, as we generally bring out own, disposable litter box with us whenever we travel.
The only confusion that I experienced was with the "Upgrade Your Drive" option when making the reservation. Since we were driving into NYC, we needed to account for parking, and with the "Upgrade your drive" rate, there was supposed to be some sort of discount, rolled into the cost of the hotel stay. In essence, the additional rate was supposed to allow us to pay only $10 per night for parking, no matter for how long you stay. We were unsure where to park, so when I called the hotel, I was told to park in the parking garage on the same block as the hotel. We only stayed one night, and when we checked in, we got our parking ticket validated by the hotel. However, when we checked out the next day, we had to pay the garage $40. We told them that our parking was validated, but we were then informed that this didn't matter; we would have to contest their cost with the hotel. I called the hotel later that day to figure things out, but to this date, I'm still unclear why we had to pay the full price to park instead of just the $10 that was promised in the "Upgrade Your Drive" rate. In that sense, I felt cheated out of my money, and maybe we actually ended up paying more for just staying at the hotel than we needed to pay.
