Le Parker Meridien New York
Ranked #260 of 470 Hotels in New York City

Aside from St. Regis (obvious, but unreachable for most of us), methinks that Le Meridien might be my favorite Starwood brand. It's smart, sexy and a lot of bang for your buck. This particular LM isn't as "in line" with brand standards as others around the world, but it's fabulous nonetheless.

Our stay was on points, and for a very special occasion. We were upgraded to Junior Suites and had some wonderful welcome amenities compliments of the incredible and world-class folks at Starwood Social Media. For your further consideration:

- Unbeatable location in NYC -- really accessible to any and everything you'd want as a visitor or even biz traveler. As a NYC resident for 5 years, I'd pick this location or Union Square as top "neighborhoods" to stay in when visiting.
- Beautiful property. Elegant but still with a touch of modern oomph. Chic but not so much so that you gag. Not as outdated, in my opinion, as some of the other reviews suggest.
- The elevators are awful. I mean really, really they awful like Santa getting a parking ticket on Christmas Eve. On three occasions I waited for more than ten minutes to get a car.
- The junior suites are rather fabulous. So spacious - plenty of room for a family of four. Awesome TV stand that turns to living area and bed. Lots of space for the business traveler. Herman Miller Aeron office chair. Great toiletries and walk in shower.
- Burger Joint (in hotel lobby) is one of better burgers in NYC. You CAN charge to your room. Prepare to stand in line and order via their specific system or they'll kick you to the back of line (think "Soup Nazi").
- Cool lobby bar - very Moorish feeling. Usually crowded.
- We needed toothpaste. They wanted to charge $10. I don't think so.

I have glanced at rates. They're reasonable for this grade of a hotel and location. Try as hard as you can for a room as high as possible facing the Park (north).

For SPG Platinum folks reading this -- not much recognition. I had to ask for my amenity.

Room Tip: The higher the room is, the better. Try really hard to be on the Central Park (north-facing) side.

We have stayed here many times and it is always a pleasure. Classy, fun, great vibe. Of course, always love the burgers. You can't beat the location and they always provide top-notch service. The bell-man went above and beyond and wheeled our luggage on a cart to our rental car agency. Classy move!

Pro:
Excellent concierge service

Cons: Room did not have view as expected - no Junior Suites have a park view. For the price it should've been more apparent when booking online with hotel directly. Room did not have a coffee service - room service food came cold. For price it should have been hot. Line to hamburger restaurant on site - NYC and you are getting a hamburger?

Room Tip: Call hotel directly to find out what your view is or is not. "Clear as Mud" on their websi...

Dear Banana3tx,

It's true, it can be confusing book a hotel you are not familiar with... We try to keep it simple: all of our rooms / suite with a view of Central Park have the words "park view" in their titles in addition to the description of the room. Such as the "Tower room with park view"
Thank you for your insight and the mention of our concierge! Have any additional questions when booking? I'm here... guestrelations@parkermeridien.com

My wife and I got lucky and booked Le Parker Meridien through Priceline blind sale for under $200 for a Friday night in the city.

The hotel has an upscale NYC feel with an elegant lobby and swanky bar on the first floor. It is classy without feeling overdone. A nice little touch you will notice is the Charley Chaplin and Tom and Jerry cartoons playing in the elevator on the way up to the room.

The room we got was great. Our view wasn't much to talk about, but what can you ask for with a last minute deal for under $200 at an upscale hotel? The only complaint I had was that the T.V. remote did not access the on-demand system and there was no radio to hook up an iPhone to.

We had a great stay and I hope to return to use the gym and pool, which looks fantastic.

I am a long-time devotee of Le Parker Meridien. In 2004, I hosted a gala surprise birthday bash for my husband (and 200 guests) which was simply perfect. My recent stay was just as pleasant. Breakfast at Norma's was delicious, as always. The room was very comfortable. I was participating in a two-day conference and Le Parker Meridien was central to all the activities. It was by far more comfortable than staying at the Marriott Marquis. As a member of the Starwood family, the benefits of staying there make it more than worthwhile, especially the free WiFi. The room was peaceful and quiet - a plus after busy conference days. I would highly recommend travelers consider Le Parker Meridien as their number one choice for accommodations in Manhattan.

My family could not be more satisfied with our stay. We were traveling with our two young children, and from the very beginning, the check-in staff was very friendly and accommodating, even sending up complimentary cookies and milk for my son who was celebrating a birthday! The junior suite we had was more than enough space, and we took full advantage of the rooftop pool. The hotel is close to everything awesome for children: Central Park, FAO Schwartz, Rockerfeller Center, etc. Finally, Susana at the Concierge desk was amazing. Before our stay, we contacted her to make dinner reservations, and she found the perfect place for us--we even got complimentary champagne courtesy of Susana and the hotel!

Burger Joint was good, but truthfully not worth waiting in line for. But we learned you can call ahead to place an order in and then pick it up 15-20 minutes later without having to wait.

So glad we came, and we'll come again. Thanks to all who made it an amazing trip.

Very well located hotel in downtown Manhattan. Close to Central Park and 5th Avenue, and within walking distance to Times Square or the Empire State Building.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Free WIFI service on the ground floor and with an extra 10 USD/day in the whole hotel. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. Good views over Central Park from the 26th floor. I Awesome views from the pool (a perfect place for relaxing after a day of meetings or visits).
Don’t forget to taste the delicious hamburgers in Burger Joint (hotel ground floor) and visit the helpful Starbucks coffee across the street.
There is also an interesting an unusual 60’s style barbershop located on the ground floor.
A great experience in NYC.
