I've read a few of the reviews for this property and I'm surprised by any negative comments. This is a Hampton Inn, not a Conrad. I am a Diamond member and I have stayed with Hilton properties around the world. The staff at this hotel are awesome! Really friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very desirable location, in my opinion. It's a few blocks from Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, theaters, circle line tours and 1/2 block to subways. It doesn't get any more convenient than that. The free breakfast is great and EXACTLY like every Hampton breakfast served. This is a chain and it isn't the W. we had a fantastic experience, and the glitch with the elevator that the doors closed but nothing happened is a great story, and there are 2 elevators so no problem. If I came back to Manhattan I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. It is great value for the area, clean and comfortable. Two thumbs up!

Can't think of anything negative to say - great place to stay. Close proximity to the theater district and countless eateries. Close to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. Close to Central Park as well.
Staff is great and accommodating - very warm and friendly. Rooms are clean - bed are comfy. The breakfasts can get a bit hectic toward later evening, but there is a sign telling you the best time to come down for breakfast. Even if one has to stand in line just a bit - it's worth it. The breakfast is great! This is the only place we stay when we go to NYC several times a year. Highly recommended!!!!

Small but efficient room for family stay. Only lacked refrigerator in room for kid snacks. Called to inform them our plane would be delayed and we'd have a late arrival, but found out central reservations made wrong reservation, manager very helpful on spot to fix issue before we arrived. Excellent value in midtown New York. Short walk to theater district-could see "Wicked" theater from our room. Close to Times Square and subway. Great referrals for dinner in area. Front desk staff very helpful always.

The location of this hotel was excellent. It's within easy walking distance of many major attractions and theater, as well as close to subway access. It's near Times Square, but just far enough away to not be noisy. We stayed on the 6th floor and couldn't hear much outside noise, despite a busy street below. Room was clean and staff allowed for a late checkout, which really helped our ravel plans. Quite pricey for a Hampton Inn, but I guess that's what you get in Manhattan. We parked the car at an adjacent garage (also pricey, but hotel offers a discount) and walked or took the subway anywhere we need to go.

It is a bit of a stretch to call this "Times Square north," but "Hell's Kitchen" probably would put some visitors off and nobody really knows where Clinton is. Nevertheless, this is a reasonable walk from both the theater district and the southern end of Central Park. Just as importantly, it is across the street from the subway stop and near bus lines running uptown and down. Our room was quite large, even by non-New York standards and very clean and up-to-date. I had the impression that the hotel was either fairly new or recently renovated. Our room was at the rear overlooking a courtyard and was quiet, even with a window opened. The breakfast was a cut above the usual, with cereal, waffles, an egg dish, pastries, etc. However, the large breakfast room can get very crowded if you do not get down early. (The hotel itself warns you about this.) There are many restaurants in the area, at a range of prices, beginning with pizza. One night brought in a dinner (lamb and rice for $5.00) from the cart on the corner and bought a bottle of soda from the Rite Aid one-half block down. There is a small fitness room, but no place to change or shower, so you will need to wear those sweaty clothes back up the elevator. We appreciated the ability to check out and leave our bags until we were leaving town alter that afternoon.

This hotel has very friendly staff who are always willing to assist. You absolutely cannot beat the location as all the sites are within walking distance from Central Park to 30 Rock to restaurant row and Times Square. Subway stops are on every corner and the Rite Aid pharmacy is right down 8th where one can pick up all the supplies one would need. There is an abundance of theaters literally right across the street. The only down side is if you are a late riser the breakfast area is very busy from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A good alternative is the Cosmic Diner just 1/2 block north on the east side of 8th. My wife and I had an excellent time and will be sure to come back to the Hampton Inn Times Square North.

Pricey at times. I have been to much less expensive Hampton Inns and the experience was the same or better. This place is really all about location. I would probably would not stay here on personal trip.
