“Great Hotel for your stay”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

We stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed this hotel. They were very helpful and informative. Its a great location, close to central park, times square, Broadway shows and Rockefeller center. Will stay here again.

A great choice for a base to explore New York. Walking distance to Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, 5th avenue and Restaurant row. Easy subway options to get everywhere else. Concierge was wonderful with great recommendations and assistance for same day theater and attraction tickets. Room was large for the city with 2 queen beds. Free breakfast is a great help and it is very good (though very crowded at the later hours- particularly on the weekend) Overall a great stay!!

I stayed here for a week and was very happy. The price was definitely somewhat more reasonable than other Times Square locations I have stayed at. It is not right on Times Square but just a couple blocks north and west. The great thing was that it is right near 3 different subway lines which was a huge plus if you are planning to get around the city. It also was very close (walking distance) to most of the theaters. The rooms were very clean and consistent with other Hampton Inns. A very good breakfast was included in the price. If you were too busy for breakfast in the dining room they had brown bag breakfasts that you could grab and go. One of my favorite things was an around the clock coffee, tea, hot chocolate bar in the lobby and the big bowl of apples always readily available. They did have a concierge available for much of the day and I heard them making play arrangements for guests. They seemed very helpful. The only downside was the noise from the street traffic but of course it is NYC. Also rooms that would accomodate more than 2 people were in short supply (we stayed in a room with one king bed). Our friends had a room with a king and a pull out sofa bed. They also had a refrigerator and microwave. These rooms were quite a bit more expensive when we booked. All in all a very positive experience. I will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side are probably quieter since they don't back on a main street.

I can honestly say this is the best Hilton brand hotel in NYC that I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in quite a few in NYC)! The rooms were descent size for NYC, clean and looked fairly new. The price was reasonable, the bed was super comfortable, and the free internet and breakfast was great! I loved the fact that parking is directly next door and the hotel offers a discounted parking rate ($30/night, which is amazing in NYC) - just make sure you get your parking ticket validated by the hotel as you leave to get your discount (as you pay at the parking garage, not the hotel). The location could not have been better. I was running a race in Central Park, which is in walking distance from the hotel. Times Square is right around the corner from the hotel, and there is a subway stop close by to get you wherever else you would like to go in NYC. The hotel has free bag check, so if you want to continue to explore NYC on your check-out day, you can!

My only complaints/suggestions would be: 1) the bathroom is very small and the lighting in that room is not great; 2) don’t stay near the elevator as people waiting for the elevator tend to be very loud (I did turn on the fan in my room, which helped some, but next time I will request a room away from the elevator).

Ultimately, I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator as people waiting for the elevator tend to be loud.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The bedroom and bathroom was clean and tidy, but the corridor was noisy and you could hear works going on outside at 7am! The hotel is in a great location for exploring Manhattan on foot, but the breakfast was less than desirable.

Our guests’ comfort and safety is my number one concern and your review will assist in correcting similar issues in the future. This hotel is a fairly typical Hampton Inn ... but atypical for NYC. On 8th Avenue, it is 1 block from Broadway and 1 block over, six blocks down to Times Square. Wicked was showing right across the street. We enjoyed being within walking distance to lot of attractions, restaurants, etc. Many restaurants are on 9th Avenue, two blocks away. Central park is 10 blocks north; we walked there in 11 minutes.
The breakfast staff was superb. The food selection was very good: omelettes; hash browns; boiled eggs; muffins; pastries; 4 different cereals; fruit; Belgian waffles (2 machines; never ran out of batter while I was there in 4 days). I would agree with a previous post that it is best to go early to breakfast to avoid the crowds. But the staff kept the food supply updated through the very last minutes (we were there at 10 AM and they were bringing in new supplies.
The room we stayed in (407) had two queen beds; 1 foot between wall and first bed; three feet between beds; 4 feet on the other side. Walking room at end of beds ; approx. 3 feet with stand for suitcase and TV stand in place. We had a teen in a sleeping bag and had enough floor space.
I would not agree that it is "not updated." It is not swanky and the bathroom is small but ... this is NYC. Everyone was nice and I was much more impressed than disappointed. I would say if you are a family travelling with kids (ours were 11 and 18) and you are used to Hampton Inn (3 star quality) you will not be disappointed. And really, not being familiar with a NYC map, I would say the location was ideal in that you are walking distance to Central park (10 blocks in one direction) and Times Square ( 6 blocks in the other direction). And Cosmic Diner across the street is open 24 hours and was a good place to eat but we only ate there once as we wanted to try different places.

Room Tip: Choose room away from elevator; when we checked in the clerk advised us to wait until a later room c...
