“Great reviews for a reason”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

Just got back from a 4 day stay and wanted to confirm that the reviews on this hotel were all great for a reason - the location is great, the hotel clean and quiet, the staff very helpful. Don't hesitate to book if you are looking. Thanks Hampton inn!

Although not a luxury hotel, the location was very convenient. Most things were walking distance from our hotel. The staff was nice, the rooms were clean and cozy, and it was quiet at night. It was a nice hotel to stay at.

The hotel location is great allowing for easy access to Times Square and many other NYC attractions. Parking next door is convenient and reasonaby priced for hotel guests. Staff is courteous, friendly and welcoming at all times. Breakfast is very chaotic as mentioned by other reviewers but well worth it considering it's complimentary. On the down side, the Hilton employee in the front lobby asking "did you get your free gift" every time you returned to the hotel began to get annoying. The $1 charity contribution surprise would be best dealt with if guests were advised up front and not left to find out when you get your bill under the door. We were happy to oblige but people just don't like surprises (seems sneaky). Another reviewer mentioned king beds (wish we were told these were available) as we were a party of 4 and had queen beds at best which were extremely uncomfortable. Nonetheless this is a good NYC hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Comfortable, clean rooms and a wonderful breakfast room (just go early to avoid crowds)! Close to everything! We were very pleased with the price compared to other hotels in the area. Minutes from Times Square, and extremely close to a subway station, and the musical Wicked. Mamma Mia is just around the corner as well.

Room Tip: Front of building overlooks 8th avenue

This hotel is centrally located with only a very short walk to most tourist places such as; Central Park, Broadway, Times Square, the UN building, Grand Central Station, Fifth Avenue, the Empire State Building and the Rockerfeller Center. The subway is close by for further excursions in New York. We found the hotel to be in a safe area and we walked around this area both during the day and late at night.
The staff in the lobby area were efficient, helpful and friendly. There was a concierge service in the lobby which was convenient for tickets to various attractions. We purchased tickets for a Broadway show through the hotel concierge, a little more expensive than lining up, but on a holiday we found the convenience outweighed the small difference in price.
Our room was very clean and modern and surprising large in area. There was a very comfortable king size bed, a fantastic bathroom with good amenities and even had a somewhat private view from our window where we felt comfortable leaving the curtains open in a big city. I would suggest you request a small fridge for your room when booking for more than a day as we stayed for a week without a fridge, which was inconvenient for chilling drinks and milk etc., although there was a vending machine with cold drinks and an ice chiller near the lift on the floor. I would suggest asking for a rear room as we had one which we found very quiet as it was away from the road and had a view over some lovely trees.
The breakfasts were varied daily with a wide selection of both hot and cold foods available. They even had breakfast bags for people in a hurry or to take away. There was a 24 hour coffee, tea and hot chocolate facility in the lobby.
There was a parking station / garage available next door to the hotel, but we didn't use it, so I don't know the price for this service. We walked everywhere as the hotel was so central. Although we did purchase a day trip of Manhattan ( from the concierge) which took us out onto the Hudson River and to all the further attractions like Wall Street, Soho, Greenwich, Chinatown and Little Italy.
I would recommend this hotel as it was convenient, clean, and the staff were very professional.

Stayed at this hotel with my aunt, grandma and cousin in July. We were traveling for pleasure and had a great experience. I think the best part was the complimentary breakfast. It was so nice having that taken care of every day without having to spend even more money on food. We were warned to get to breakfast early if we wanted a seat (and a "quiet meal"). We took their advice and went down around 6:30 every morning. It was good to have a cup of coffee and watch the news before venturing out into the city.

The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. We used the Concierge to make dinner reservations one night and it was a simple and efficient process.

The hotel has a great location. Walking distance to the subway, Times Square, Central Park, shopping, etc.

The only downside is the price per night. But hey - it's NYC!
