OK, to the point, this is a standard plush chain hotel. It does what it says on the tin, the rooms were excellent, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the whole thing ran like clockwork. Would I stay here again? Yes. However, if you wan't character come to a nice country hotel here in Dorset! Seriously though, if you, like us, are first time visitors to New York I cannot believe there are many better places to stay. This hotel is literally in the heart of the action. To walk out of the door at night and be confronted with the massive neon hoardings around Times Square is something we'll never forget. On our last evening we just stood and stood amongst the throngs of people and soaked up the atmosphere. Sensational. As I imply in the title, location is all and from here we were able to access everywhere around us with ease, Central Park, Gugenheim, Metropolitan to the north, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village and ferries to the south. We had a five night stay and just about fitted everything in. PS get to the Empire State early as we did, no queues!

We stayed in the Crowne Plaza Times Square between 24 - 29 July 2010.

Room - we had a large corner suite which overlooked Times Square from the 27th floor. Amazing views. It had a Super King Size bed with thick mattress topper, a large chaise longes and a desk overlooking the city scape.
There was a large flat screen TV with excellent access to satellite channels.
No mini bar, which was odd in such a well equipped hotel. Also no minifridge to store refreshments of your own. There was however a tassimo machine which you can brew your own teas and coffees.
Air conditioning was good and fairly silent even when on full.
As with all Intercontinental Hotels, there was a choice of pillow for your preference.

The bathroom was ok, if slightly small - but adequate for a city break. We had to ask for replacement toiletries, but they were there within minutes after asking.

Cleaning was daily - with an option to change your bedding daily also if necessary. This was done to a high standard everyday.

Restaurant/bar - the restaurant was open whilst we stayed but we ate out every evening. The menu seemed a little limited (especially for the veggies) with breakfast costing $25 each!
The bar was open until 12am for residents and had a massive array of any drink you could imagine. Good views over Times Square do come at a cost though. The drinks were not cheap!

There was a pool and gym in the hotel, but we didn't use these facilities during our stay.

There is a small shop in the concierge area which stocked all your basics - except milk - which is essential for the English tea!

The hotel is placed in an ideal location right in the middle of Times Square and Broadway - perfect for sightseeing and shows. 50th St & Broadway is the local Subway station and is just over the road.

The hotel was excellent, and location even better We would certainly return again. 4*.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! We arrived and checked in (with an upgrade) to a very spacious and wonderful room. Very clean and had a great view of the Hudson river. Do not worry about the other complaints here.... the room is very nice. It is NYC and for the location, you can't beat it! The staff are great and very cordial and nice. They always helped when asked and never were rude. The gym is good and the real only complaint is the pool...but who goes to NYC for the pool?!?! You go for Time Square, Broadway, and the city, which is RIGHT AT YOUR DOORSTEP when you stay here.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel, only because it was already paid otherwise we would have gone the day after. The staff is not very friendly and the rooms are not at the standar of the price you are paying. For the sme price you get much better hotels. They charged 15 usd per day for internet whcih is the most expensive rate i have seen in a hotel

stayed 3 nights from 17th July. This is a great location for discovering New York city, Broadway & Times Square are steps from the front door. Check-in took half an hour because he told us they did not have the connecting rooms we had requested, after standing there for 30 minutes we decided to take two rooms that were one room apart as that was all they had to offer - we went to our rooms & discovered the rooms were connecting - I think he was confused that the room numbers were both 'odd' numbers! The rooms were spacious & clean, they have spent millions on updating them & everything is new apart from the baths which had been very badly re-enamelled. We did not eat or drink here as there are lots of reasonably priced bars & restaurants nearby. The staff at the front desk would rather stand chatting to each other rather than attend to customers.
I would recommend this hotel for location & cleanliness but the staff could do with some customer service training.

Located right at Broadway at 49th, best location in NYC! Arrived in the middle of rush hour traffic, had the bags out of the car and into the hotel in minutes. Lobby is stunning, so very NYC. Outstanding Conceirge, very knowledgeable, helpful. Gave us great advice. Check in was easy and perfect. Room was a real surprise!!! Corner room with amazing views of Times Square and Broadway! Room was gorgeous! My only complaint about the whole experience was the pool. From the website, it looks like a regular swimming pool, but really it's just a lap pool and not appropriate for kids to have a little swim and splash!!! Oh well, who wants to be swimming in NYC...too much to do!
Thank you Crowne Plaza for an outstanding visit! We WILL be back!

Stayed from July 29 to Aug 2 with my husband and 20 year old daughter. Check went smoothly and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The only difficulty was getting to the parking garage and my husband ended up using a different one close by.

We did not use the food at the hotel due to the prices being extremely high but found delis and other restaurants all close by off Broadway or 7th ave. We were on the 20th floor in a corner room with two double beds. Our view was of Times Square and the empire state building. Still cant believe we paid so much for a room though!

The room was a good size and very clean. The beds were very comfy and therefore a great place to rest after a long day in NYC. We found the location great and thanks to the staff, discovered restaurant row on 46th st. Lots of smaller local restaurants all with price fixed menus available. WE ate at an Italian and a steak place.

I would recommend the hotel to others.
