On returning to New York decided to look at location a little more than the last time we went and this hotel did not let us down in any way very clean welcoming rooms very tidy and modern great views out on to jells kitchen and time square
And with the added bonus of walking straight out the doors into time square the hotel suited our needs very well and have now booked the same hotel for July 2013

We paid 150$$ a night to stay and it was nice and clean.. We were goin to radio music hall and we walked.. We arrived early about 2:15pm and we asked to check in and were told that we couldn't till 3pm and the front desk clerk was very rude about it... Once we checked in it was nice enough.. Unfortunately the lounge bar closed at midnight on a Saturday in New York!!!! But all and all the room was nice and clean, pretty small but not the smallest I've ever stayed in... I'm happy with what I got for the price

Stayed August 2012, traveled as a couple

If you want comfortable well appointed accommodation in a good location in NYC The Crown Plaza Times Square is ideal. The only fault i found is that check-in was a bit chaotic, and anyone seemed to be able to use the Priority Club desk.
The room was well appointed and a reasonable size for Manhattan, and the bathroom was small but comfortable.
Ideal for a visit without breaking the bank, lots of restaurants and coffee shops near-by, this is a good choice.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor overlooking Times Square

It was our first trip to New York, and we managed to have a wonderful week there before returning to the UK on the Friday before the Hurricane hit. We have been to other US cities before,
Anyway, the hotel was very comfortable ,and the rooms were quiet.
The higher the floor the more quiet it is. we were on floor 43.
We had dinner once in the hotel restaurant, and to food was very good.
Hotel is nearby to just about everything, we even walked to the WTC, and Grand Central Station.
Working for an American company based in the UK, I am aware that the Americans have a really bad impression of us Brits because we dont tip them.
The people working in the American service industry rely heavily on being tipped to suppliment their wages, so if you want good service, tip them.
So most of them were pleasantly surprised when they got tips from us. I nearly got crushed by the embrace of a towering New York cab driver!

Anyway, Crowne Plaza.. nice hotel, and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

Thank you WebbyDog for your detailed review! I am so glad that you found our hotel to be comfortable! Our higher rooms do have wonderful views and certainly keep you up above the street noise that NYC is infamous for! It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed our restaurant! Please come and stay with us again really soon!

Once you get beyond the attractive lobby, this hotel quickly becomes just another average stay in NYC. The rooms are functional, but are showing significant wear around the edges -- especially the bathrooms. Most of this could be remedied with a through cleaning and paint job, but I suspect as long as hotel rooms are in such high-demand in this area we will continue to see just "passing" grades from this property.

Beware, water pressure on higher floors seems to be pretty bad.

As a longtime Priority Club Platinum member I've requested an upgrade for our late October stay at the Crowne Plaza Times Square. After a very friendly e-mail exchange, I was upgraded to a Times Square view room, which I unfortunately didn't get at check-in, since there are no more rooms and the hotel is overbooked.

After asking a different member of the reception staff, - contrary to the previous colleague's statement - they've 'found' a better room. This has - understandably - had a little bad taste in our mouth.

Everything else... It just wasn't our day. The TV had continuous signal-shortages, the room service was late - and the food was just simply stunningly bad. I'm obviously not unaccustomed to bad hotel food, the only surprise is that the hotel advertises it's Room Service under the tagline: 'Not typical Hotel Food'.

The Crowne Plaza Times Square has a great location, has wonderful views - it's just doesn't try hard enough.

Room Tip: Go above the 40 floor for nicer views.

I am sorry to read about your experience with us peterporkolab. It is unfortunate that you did not immediately receive an immediate upgrade, but as the first agent informed you, those are all best on availability. It is also sad to hear that you did not find our restaurant to be enjoyable. We definitely hope you do come back and see us again so we can prove to you that this is not the standard that we hold for ourselves

We flew in just after Sandy for a celebration of our anniversary and my girlfriends birthday - I can't comment on the cost as I used loyalty points to pay for the room, and got an upgrade - but I thought the rooms were a little dated, and the air con in our room always seemed to heat at the same temperature regardless of setting - when asking the front desk they said this was typical due to the outside weather, which seemed odd but to be honest the temperature was liveable, we just had to remove some of the covers to avoid over heating at night.

The bar and lounge facilities are much better than the rooms, clean, modern and spacious and the service there was excellent. I also had a few requests (like more coffee to the room or a sewing kit) and these were completed quickly.

In terms if location - it's pretty good, shopping on 5th or down to the Empire State is around $8-$10, the subways were still only 50% while we stayed.so we didn't use it. For Broadway and the hectic Times Square you couldn't be any better located.

There re plenty of restaurants around but you are in more expensive territory so do some research and head out a little further to save a few dollars.

Thank you jontheblue30 for your detailed review! I apologize that the temperature was not 100% in your room but I am glad that you were still comfortable despite this setback. Our bar definitely is a nice place to hang out on the weekends, especially when you are celebrating an anniversary and a birthday! I would also like to say congratulations for cashing in your loyalty points! Please stay with us again very soon!
