“Vibrant and central”

Stayed here for Spring Break and was pleasantly surprised. Right next to Grand Central subway makes this a great hub for trips in the city. As a Gold Passport member, had access to the Hyatt Club level which always had goodies and a nice breakfast. Despite loads of people they kept it clean and moving nicely. We stayed in a suite upgrade room which was an awesome size and modern decor.

This was my first trip to the Grand Hyatt, and I was hoping to make it my regular NYC hotel. I was disappointed. The rooms are extremely modern (no drawers, barely a desk), but the furniture is cheap and chipping. There's only one power outlet at the desk. The light switches are so modern that they're actually less functional - I had trouble leaving the bathroom light on while turning off the rest at bedtime. The refrigerator doesn't work and there's no coffee maker. No bottled water available in the room. I was supposed to get free drink tickets at check in (as a Gold member), but didn't. When I inquired, I was given tickets but no apology. The uber modern clock showed the wrong time; I had to call to get it fixed. The bathroom is tiny even by NY standards and there are paint stains on the base of the bathtub. It's like staying in an Ikea room put together by lazy contractors.
As for the main areas, it's just too big to be nice. We tried to have a meeting in the lounge and were rudely shooed away because the "table is reserved" and they put down a sign.
Room service breakfast is mediocre, pretty limited (and expensive, as to be expected) menu.
Bed is comfortable, but was given a room directly across from the 10 elevators (poor design), so it was loud.

Grand Central Station area is never calm. Grand Hyatt located in a very hectic area strives to be relaxing and distinct from most large hotels. The oversized lobby is like walking into a Las Vegas Casino Resort Hotel.

The standard rooms are comfortable but if you can stay in one of the multi room suites which are all designed differently you will be impressed with level of detail and wonderful oversized bathrooms. Some even have large dressing areas with double showers and individual vanities for his and her. Dining room tables for eight or ten, wine storage for entertaining.

Grand Club is a wonderful lounge you can get breakfast and evening cocktails and snacks. Unlimited soft drinks and bottle water.

Fitness Center located on the top floor is well maintained and good equipment. It is one the better hotel gyms.

Hotel food isn't memorable but reliable and good.

Location has many dining options and central

Grand Hyatt New York is one of my top ten hotel choices in New York. I have stayed here over twenty times.

Room Tip: Staying on floors 25 and above are much quieter.

First time in NYC and first time at Grand Hyatt and we were very pleased with the location, the service and the cleanliness of the rooms as well as the hotel...

This hotel was my daughter's choice and she could not have picked a better location... It is just besides Grand Central Station (a must see) and just a short walk to Time Square and just within walking distance to Central Park and all the other attractions Manhattan as to offer and a 3 day weekend is not enough...lol... I will be going back...

So getting back to the Grand Hyatt even though I like to try different hotel but I will be going back to this hotel for all the reasons I just mentionned... Enjoy...

Find it predictably clean and well appointed. Enjoy restaurant and the marketplace for food. Gym is sufficient and location is excellent. I've stayed in rooms I'd call sufficient and rooms I'd call extravagant depending on the occasion. But I always sleep well regardless!

The hotel location is perfect if you want to be close to Time Square/obviously Grand Central..so walking is quite manageable. Check in and check out was flawless. Staff was very helpful and courteous. However, I wish I got the name of the individual who gave me the parking rates over the phone. I decided to park my car here at the hotel because in comparison to the garages locally it seemed avg in price. Furthermore, I was traveling alone with my daughter and didn't think it wise to have to walk around the city with our luggage to the hotel. I was told by a gentleman that answered the main phone of the Hyatt the garages charged as follows: $55 the 1st 24 hours and then it was broken down for over 24 hours as the first 1/2 hr $8, 1 hr $29, 2 hrs $39 and 12 hrs. $47. There is no posting as you pull up to the hotel so I only had the word of the hotel rep to go by. Upon checking out 1 hour over my 24 hour period I was charged $$$130!!!!! Sure Valet has the rates posted, but come on..how the heck would I have known other than the word of that individual. HUGE disappointment, as they would not decrease my rate. For that reason, I will never go to this hotel again! 1 other thing...the heat in the room is uncontrollable...so we didn't sleep well do to being overly hot. So much for an enjoyable Mom/Daughter weekend... : (

Hotel is exceptionally well placed, is impressive in scale and is exceptionally big. However we booked a family room and there was no second bed in the bedroom room when we arrived. Despite being promised one at 9.30 that night it stil had not arrived. First night for The sofa, small applogy on $50 vouchers. The next day we had to chase up a change of room and no one at reception knew which room it was and when the did our clothes had not been moved as promised. It was also opposite the lifts which was not as requested. Anyway a further $60 breakfast vouchers later 3rd time lucky. To be fair it was fine once the problems where resolved and it is a vast hotel with 1300 rooms. There is a 24hr deli which is OK but it is bang next door to Grand Central and within a few yards the is everything you need. I would however consider coming back and at $300 a night its probably worth it.

Room Tip: Room 2419 was clean and tidy. No major road noise
