“Great location - comfy room”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

The staff was very friendly and welcoming when we checked in. The concierge was helpful when looking for suggestions of places to eat. Our room was clean and cozy. The coffee from The Market was excellent. Great location to walk most anywhere. We walked to Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Macys, Central Park, Bryant Park. Grand Central Station next door made access to all of Manhattan very easy.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 21st floor and it was very quiet.

We had booked a club level room, however they didn't have any with two beds left, so we were put on a different floor. The front desk told us they got a lot of complaints for the club level being too noisy anyway, so we'd be happier with this room. Club lounge has complimentary breakfast, hors d'ouerves and drinks, but you have to be Hyatt club members. Good location right next to grand central. Not too far from everything but not right in the mix.
The rooms were a little small for four people, but the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, and there was a shelf that went right over the sink, making it difficult to wash your face.
Not a bad hotel, but nothing special either.

You can't beat the location-adjacent to Grand Central station with access to all trains and subway system right nearby. The Grand Hyatt is an ultra modern style hotel. You can check yourself in and a computer pops out your room key. There is no "front desk" per se since the staff stands at several small tables behind their laptops. The lobby is large with plenty of seating. It all is tastefully done but if you are looking for a warm cozy place this is not it. The rooms are modern as well and small but provide all the amenities. However the shower had to be the smallest shower I have ever been in since there is barely enough room to turn around. The bathroom is quite tight and only room for one person at a time. The bed was okay but not great. They were offering cookies and cocoa or hot cider or coffee/tea in the lobby in the late afternoons each day which I thought was a nice touch. All of the staff were pleasant and helpful. One odd feature was that only half the elevators go to floors above the 14th floor so if you are above that sometimes there is a fairly long wait during busy times.
Overall it was a very positive experience and would recommend it without reservation. The location really is great.

We got a great rate online and our room was upgraded to a king room. The room was spacious and the decor is traditional. Everything was in order. Staff at this hotel are all courteous and many go out of their way to make you feel special. When we told them we were meeting out of town guests from Ireland for dinner that night, they immediately gave us a late checkout, which we did not ask for but appreciated very much. All services such as housekeeping, and lobby staff were tops. This Hyatt outshines many others which we have gone to in past travel. The ease of traveling all over the city from its Grand Central location can't be beat!!!

1. Room entrance door face bedroom without a small corridor so a lot of light pass below the door as well noise, very unpleasant to sleep well
2. Lifts were terrible in rush morning hours I spent sometimes more than 5 minutes and in occasion use stairs from the 27th to the 24th were necessary to catch other set of lifts
3. Lobby is absolutely crowdie
4. In room closet is ridiculous small. No room for clothes of two persons
5. There is a 10 USD for receiving Fedex at the hotel

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

The rooms are a little expensive but very nice. They are clean ,modern and still comfortable. The room service is extremely over priced so unless you absolutely have to eat it I say go out into the city.

Very nice. Fantastic customer service for NYC. Grand club was large and better than most executive lounges I've seen. Bar area could be a little larger for a hotel this size but has a nice view of the busy street. You will not regret staying here but be prepared to pay $$$$.

Room Tip: Not really much of a view in any of the rooms so, not worth asking..
