Just back from five days at the grand hyatt.
Location is wonderful. Grand central station is awesome..
Lobby a little soulless but who needs a hotel lobby with ny on your door step.
Concierge really know their stuff.
Room was clean and very big.
Beds were really comfy.
Overall a great hotel to come back to after a day exploring.

My husband and I stayed here for a conference (also held in the hotel) which also coincided with our Anniversary. I made the reservation via telephone in the hopes of attaining a complimentary room upgrade. Unfortunately, I was told that this could not be done at the time, but I could try asking upon check-in.

We arrived early in the morning, as our conference started at 8 AM. Though standard check-in is not until 4 PM, we met with the front desk staff and were granted a free room upgrade (SCORE!). We were also able to check in early - I received a phone call at Noon alerting me that the room was ready for us. Score 2 for the hotel! Our room was a King Corner room on the 31st floor. The room was a typical size for NYC and had a great view. The bathroom was tiny but served its purpose. The toiletries are quite generous - large 6 oz sized shampoo and conditioner, a full bottle of lotion, and even lip balm.

Overall, we were very pleased with the room. Of course, we would have liked a lower price, but this is Manhattan and low prices are few and far between. Service was great, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we would definitely stay there again.

One minor annoyance - we asked to store our bags upon check-out, as the conference did not end until 5 PM. We were able to do so, but the hotel charged $2 per bag. Come on now! Also, the internet was a rip-off, so we did not partake in the wifi service.

Room Tip: Corner rooms that are higher up are both larger and quieter. Don't pay up front; take your chan...

We all loved that hotel. Clean, close to everything. We didn't hear street noise at night. Stuff was friendly, rear for NY. Rooms were comfortable. Lobby is beautiful, has some character. Beds comfy, clean sheets.

The hotel is in a great but very busy location right beside Grand Central - access to all the major wants in New York is perfect from here - booked a Grand Club room expecting a bit of space & luxury and got exactly the opposite which was very dissapointing - room was small and sparse with no bath
The hotel was way overpriced for the quality of room - I am a big Hyatt brand user but this by far was a let down compared to most other Hyatt hotels.

Room Tip: Get a room in a higher floor and check size before confirming your booking

The hotel is newly renovated and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and always willing to lend a hand. This hotel is located in one of the best locations in NYC, close to all major subways and many NYC landmarks.

Due to Sandy and the Nor'easter we were stranded in the Tri-State area. We had to scramble to get a room. Boy were we lucky to snag one here!! We were given a corner room that was done up very well. These rooms are very clean and decorated well. We will definitely be staying here again.

The location of this hotel is great - right by Grand Central Station in the heart of Manhattan. The lobby is pretty nice and impressive too but then you get to your room...

1. There is no full length mirror in the room.
2. There is no bath tub or even a real shower in the bathroom - there is simply a curtain that separates a shower area from the rest of the bathroom resulting in massive flooding throughout the entire bathroom when you shower.
3. There is no where to hang anything full length - a full length coat, a full length dress forget it - the closed bar is at waist height...I have no idea why.
4. The clocks were all wrong - there were two clocks in the room, one on an ipod speaker type contraption, another that was an analog clock on a lamp - both were incorrect.
5. The room is very stuffy.
6. There is no 24 hour room service.
7. The lighting was terrible and to find a light switch near impossible. In the bathroom there's this weird super modern touch pad thing that's a pain to work.

For the price of the room it was actually horrible. The only redeeming feature is the location of the hotel but I'm sure in midtown you can find a much better room for much cheaper.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 3142.
