“Great location!”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

The hotel is newly renovated and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and always willing to lend a hand. This hotel is located in one of the best locations in NYC, close to all major subways and many NYC landmarks.

Due to Sandy and the Nor'easter we were stranded in the Tri-State area. We had to scramble to get a room. Boy were we lucky to snag one here!! We were given a corner room that was done up very well. These rooms are very clean and decorated well. We will definitely be staying here again.

The location of this hotel is great - right by Grand Central Station in the heart of Manhattan. The lobby is pretty nice and impressive too but then you get to your room...

1. There is no full length mirror in the room.
2. There is no bath tub or even a real shower in the bathroom - there is simply a curtain that separates a shower area from the rest of the bathroom resulting in massive flooding throughout the entire bathroom when you shower.
3. There is no where to hang anything full length - a full length coat, a full length dress forget it - the closed bar is at waist height...I have no idea why.
4. The clocks were all wrong - there were two clocks in the room, one on an ipod speaker type contraption, another that was an analog clock on a lamp - both were incorrect.
5. The room is very stuffy.
6. There is no 24 hour room service.
7. The lighting was terrible and to find a light switch near impossible. In the bathroom there's this weird super modern touch pad thing that's a pain to work.

For the price of the room it was actually horrible. The only redeeming feature is the location of the hotel but I'm sure in midtown you can find a much better room for much cheaper.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 3142.

We had 4 nights planned but had to stay for 7 due to the hurricane. The hotel staff were all very helpful throughout and the location is as good as it gets!

On arrival we were quickly greeted and checked in. The staff really come across as caring and helpful, waving you over and asking caring questions about your journey. We were also given about 10 free coffee/tea vouchers.

The room was modern and clean with a great shower and a decent tv with plenty of channels.

The gym on the top floor was better than most hotel gyms and very clean.

When we had to extend the stay the staff were very helpful and also helpful during departure.

Overall a really good experience.

The only bits that could be improved whilst we were there was a female member of staff on the concierge who wasn't very helpful whilst dealing with when we were trying to find out about our transfer - she was on Facebook whilst talking to us. Also reading some of the other comments I have seen some about security, the hotel is right next to central station and there was loads of people just hanging about some of whom looked a little dodgy. When the weather was bad the security stopped people coming into the hotel unless they had a pass - I felt much safer when this was happening. Although it must be noted we didn't have any bother.

We would return to this hotel.

Our trip to New York in September did not start off very well…delayed 3 hours coming in and did not check in until 11:30pm. We were given a room on the 28th floor and our keys did not work. After coming back to the lobby for new keys, we were able to enter our standard room with a king size bed. The first thing we wanted to do was shower and noticed that the tub was not draining. After calling maintenance, who came up right away, he unclogged the tub but of course all of the gunk came up into the tub. We requested housekeeping but were told no one was working. After talking to the manager, he moved us a few rooms down to a room with two double beds. For our troubles, he told us he would upgrade us the following night. The next day, we were moved to a room on the 26th floor and it had a much larger bathroom than the standard room, including two sinks. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights so this was very nice!

The location of this hotel is fantastic and you can walk or take the subway everywhere. The rooms are a good size, and the beds are comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Being Hyatt Gold Club members, we each received a complementary water, coffee, or tea each day.

We loved New York and will definitely be returning. When we do, we will stay here again. Even though we had a few problems, the hotel handled everything very professionally and we were very happy with the outcome.

We were displaced due to Hurricane Sandy. Crystal checked us in and was really lovely. Given our situation, she gave us a few perks and an upgrade which was the first nice thing that happened in over a week. Thank you. I travel quite a bit for business, and would stay at this hotel again. It is centrally located, the rooms are well appointed and slightly larger than your average NYC room. For tourists, this is a great hotel to stay at, as it is close to subways and within walking distance to midtown tourist attractions and shopping.
The beds are comfortable - pillows could be better. The toilet is the loudest and most powerful I have ever heard - not sure if it was just ours. There is no mini bar which would have been nice as well as some bottled water in the room. The wifi is also not included in the room ( surprising these days) and is around $16 a day which is steep. All and all, very nice hotel.

Overpriced. Room was Ok, location was GREAT. Unfortunately my stay was when Sandy disaster was in NY, but this was no fault of the Hotel. Most eatery was nearby and in walking distance. Just stand by the front entrance of 42nd street and people watch and you'll be amazed with all characters good and bad.
