“Prime Times Square Location and Excellent Value”
Reviewed June 22, 2010

Although modernized, the Edison is an historic hotel built in 1931 that retains its art deco style. The hotel is located a half block from Times Square and a few hundred feet from four major theaters. The room was booked for under $150 at easyclicktravel (kayak), which was a bargain compared to other hotels in the theater area. Although compact in size, the room was well-maintained and provided all the amenities required for a pleasant stay. The Edison Cafe was a bonus, in that the service was fast, the food excellent and the prices low. One of the other travelers told me that the cafe and the hotel had been used as a background for the Godfather. Other than a funky mattress and the shampoo coming in packages, I have no complaints. If interested in a prime location at a moderate rate, then the Edison should be highly considered.

Hubby and I went to NYC for our honeymoon and just went back for our 10th anniversary and my 50th birthday. Couldn't have chosen a better hotel for location, style and friendliness. We had a fab deal on the room as part of our package through BA and Kuoni and wondered if the hotel would be any good - we were very pleasantly surprised! Room could have done with being brighter and there was no ventilation in the bathroom but that's just being picky. Would definately recommend and use again.

We stayed in this hotel and I really can't fault it. It was great value for money, the staff were helpful and courteous. Security was good. The rooms were a little dated, but clean and comfortable, but seriously how much time do you spend there? For the price and location I think it was unbeatable. The cafe next door is also a convenient spot for breakfast (cash only) and star spotting apparently (Sex and the city filmed a scene there).

I loved NYC & this was my first visit. hotel was just off Times Square and ideally located for everything!!! Loved the Broadway Shows & also very handy for the Big Apple Tours. I thought the hotel was lovely & very traditional in what is a very modern city. I thought the standards were very high and staff ever so helpful. Would definately return here. Rooms are clean and in NYC you are only sleeping in your room so its not like you are spending loads of time in it!! All round great value :)

A comfortable, older, more European-style hotel that gives the best value in Midtown.

If you are looking for a clean room at a great price in the theater district this is it. Not plush, but adequate. Basically we used the room only for sleep. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's the place to stay for convience and value.

Stayed in the Edison with some friends while on a weeks holiday to new York. This was a first time for all of us in new York and the location of the Edison Hotel was perfect for sightseeing and shopping trips. Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly. We couldn't get over how quiet it was in our room (on 15th floor), seeing as we were only steps away form times square. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
