I have been staying at the Edison for the better part of two decades. The hotel is looking great again. Front Desk staff, security, bellman, and doorman are all friendly and attentive. Danielle and Youseff at the front desk are professional and welcoming. My floor maid made eye contact and wished me a good morning each day I was there. Little touches, but it makes it clear that someone is managing my experience and paying attention to their guests! It has always been an excellent value vs. location. With the physical upgrades to the rooms and business center it is now, in my opinion, an even better value. I'm a believer!

Room Tip: It seems like renovations are going top down. The higher the better.

This grand hotel is just steps away from Times Square. If you want to be near the activity this is the place, and you'll enjoy a very good room at a comparatively fair price. Our room was big and recently remodeled. It wasn't new and glamorous, but it was clean and functional. The beds were quite comfortable. We had street view so we could people watch. The desk staff, maids and concierge were friendly. The doorman and bell staff just stood and watched as we unloaded our luggage from the the taxi. Even the NY cabbie mentioned how lazy they looked. That aside, we enjoyed this hotel and wil return.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor. . .kind of low, but the room was quiet and the elevator ride was short...

Dear halor

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found your renovated room to your satisfaction. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and location, but are sadden that our Bell Staff did not meet your expectations. We have shared your thoughts with our Director of Front Office to ensure we take corrective measures. Once again thank you and we hope to welcome you back to the Edison in the not so distant future.

I was in New York for a family occasion and we stayed in the Edison. I found that wnen we arrived we were greeted as if we were long lost friends. The staff were very attentive and looked after all our needs. The food was a bit on the expensive side so we dined outside where you could get a meal at a very reasonable cost. I was there for four nights and there was no noise or disturbance and it was possible to rest in peace. The rooms are a bit on the old side but the bed wass very comfortable. There was a small bit of noise from the heating system which I turned off. It is very close to Times Square and in walking distance of all facilities. Overall a comfortable hotel without having a lot of modern facilities. It was ideal for us as we are not overly expectant.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter.

stayed at the Edison maybe 4 times in the last 15 years....... would agree with other comments on this review site that the lower floors/older rooms are probably pretty shoddy... they were a decade ago when I stayed there and doesn't sound like much has changed. I paid extra to be in a 'Signature' room primarily for the free wi-fi. It was clean, comfortable and nice big TV. The bathroom was small but clean and modern. The breakfast at Cafe Edison was lovely and the deli next door was a godsend - open 24/7 and a great array of foods and refreshment. I was initially put in a Signature room bang next to a generator of some description which was humming incessantly loudly, so I asked to be moved and this happened quickly and courteously. No complaints from me re the Edison - what you see is what you get.........and what you get is a very NY experience!

Room Tip: floors 19-21 are the Signature floors - refurbished and with free wifi.

We have renovated many of our rooms on our lower floors as well. Glad you enjoyed the Edison Cafe, but your right, it is great to have the Deli next door for your late night runs. The location is perfect , 20second walk from time square. Hotel is nice and has character . I had read that some rooms were refurbished and some werent and just our luck we got the old room. It wasn't bad until 5am when the radiator pipes hidden in the wall started making a crackling loud noise which woke me up and went on for 1.5hrs. I called reception and the matenance guy who turned up told me there is nothing he can do as its the heating pipes. I asked to change the room the next day and they gave me an amazing room in the renovated floor but this room was opposite the elevators which had a bell noise every time they arrived and again we couldnt sleep with this noise so changed again.
Eventually we got an old room again but this was fine with no noises and we stayed there for the rest of our stay. The hotels location is perfect and staff is nice but my advice is to request a room in the renovated floor and not infront of elevators or in the corners. P.s the heating in this hotel is ridiculous espalecially the rooms and bathrooms where it is always around 30degrees celsius and you cant control it !

Myself and 3 friends booked 2 twin rooms to stay for 4 nights. They were close and on the 12th floor. My friends managed to get electric shocks from the frankly scary looking electrics in their room and my room mate did in ours too. We had to move rooms as the curtains are for show and we had no blinds to stop the wall of windows opposite ours looking straight into our room. The new room was slightly bigger with 2 queen beds and a better view over 47th st, but the bathroom was tiny and had a red hot pipe running through it which made it like a sauna. Everything was very dated, grubby and once again the electrics looked quite scary. Wobbly switches, old looking sockets. Maybe they were trying to showcase Edison's original work with electricity! They staff were not overly enthusiastic and almost seemed to sigh when you asked them anything. Unlike the rest of New York who couldn't have been more welcoming! I would recommend the Rum House and the Edison Café though. The lobby is stunning and I am sure if you stay in the upgraded rooms it's fine. Fabulous location though!

Room Tip: Higher the better.

The hotel lies within a 2-minute walk from Time Square, but everything else about it is average. The building is quite old and so are inner facilities. Our room was quite small and bare and everything seemed outdated. There was a lot of noise coming from water pipes as well as from neighbor rooms and corridors. Each floor at this hotel has many rooms, so if you are staying at one of the upper floors, it can be an odyssey to take the elevator. The guys at the luggage room were a bit rude. As most hotels in NYC, this accommodation is totally overpriced.
