Overall the experience of staying here was lousy. The shower didn't consistently give hot water. There was a mixup with the room allocation and so they tried to let someone else into our room while we were in it (all staff were very apologetic at least). Also the hotel has a policy of requiring your room to be serviced at least every 2nd night, which we didn't really want.

The location at least is right next to Times Square, so you can head east to 30 Rock and the MoMA or west to Hell's Kitchen to find some nice & cheap places to eat. This does of course have the consequence of being noisy with horns honking & sirens at all hours of the day and night, but this isn't the hotel's fault and it wasn't too much of a problem for us.

Dear Martin R,
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you found our location convenient. We regret the issues with the plumbing which is being worked upon. As far as the room being occupied, we are truly sorry and trust you will agree that human error does occur. We hope to welcome you back to a more positive experience.

Perfect location, clean, friendly, a little pricey but I'm a cheap-skate, & have not a single regret on paying for what we got. May have been the best vacation we ever took because we stayed at The Edison Hotel

You cannot fault the position of this hotel with regarding getting around New York but it is noisy.
Unfortunately the hotel does not live up to the web sites description and then your expectation.
The cafe and Rum House while located at the hotel are not part of it and are run desperately so any meals or drinks taken there cannot be added to your room and you have to pay separately. Be aware that Cafe Edison only takes cash payments.
Our room was basic and having visited other hotels in USA as part of a tour we were on we were disappointed to find no in room drink facilities which had been available at all other hotels. I guess they have better rooms but you will need to pay extra.
Our room overlooked other rooms but in hindsight this was good as we were away from the street but unfortunately we had to keep our curtains closed for privacy.
If visiting New York for first time would recommend doing the hop on hop off bus as this gives a flavor of New York.
If you go to Grand Central Station then don't forget to look up.
If visiting again then would seek out another hotel of which there are dozens.

Perfect location in the middle of Broadway and many theatres on either side of the hotel.

Nice re-furbished rooms, BUT the only thing I did not like was the shower in my (handicap room), was not the traditional shower, or bathtub with a shower curtain, BUT since it was 1 night I lived with, as well as NO HOT water either in the evening time, BUT in morning had to let water run for at least 15 minutes before it came up!

Front desk staff were very accommodating and nice about it, even received a free breakfast from the adjoining restaurant.

All in all, the hotel, staff and location are excellent, can't say enough nice things about it accept for the hot water issue!

Dear tammyBaltimore_Md,
Thank you for choosing the Hotel Edison and for your positive review. We are so glad that you liked the renovated rooms. We appreciate your acknowledgement of our staff as they work hard to make the stay of every guest a satisfactory one. We regret the fluctuation of the water temperature and assure you that our Engineering department is working on the issue. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel Edison.

Stayed there from Oct 18 for six nights. The hotel and staff is really nice. Door men especially helpful with directions and getting a car or taxi. We stayed in a Suite and it was nice but the decor tired. The bathroom were a little small and had no place to put my makeup and toiletries. The bath water somehow could not regulate to the right temperatue, either too hot or too cold, maybe the hotel was running at a full capcity. However, the lobby quiet welcoming. Security made me feel very secured staying hee, you can't get pass them without showing your room key. The restaurant in the lobby could use more of a selection in dining and I felt the prices were a little steep. Great location with everything around you, shoppng, dining, lounging, bar's, etc. Will definetly stay here again and recommend others. Can't forget Patrick in the Gift shop of hotel, awesome, humble and helpful guy! Aloha from Hawaii

Room Tip: Get a corner suite and one that faces opposite from front entrance. Ask for a refurbished room.
