“Edison Hotel Times Square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Hotel is a bit outdated, but the location makes up for it. It is right in the middle of NYC and within walking distance to just about anything you want to do. The conceirge was available to give accurate directions to locations throughout the city, as well as transporation tips. The service was terrific, from the bell hop to the front desk. I took 3 teenage girls there recently to experience Black Friday in the Big Apple and we were not disappointed.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 5th floor that overlooked a fire escape that housed daily piles of garbage bags...

Within walking distance to Times Square and close to everything. Felt safe walking to and from the hotel at any time given the busy street the hotel is located in and yet quiet at night to sleep, specially being in a 4th floor. Will return to this hotel again on my next visit to New York, loved it.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Edison Hotel. The location was terrific, just off Times Square. We bought a two day pass on the Gray Line Double decker buses. The uptown and downtown loop routes had pickup/stops only one block from the hotel. The Italian restaurant was very good and the Rumhouse was fun at night featuring live entertainment in a cozy venue. The suite was smaller than I expected, but it was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC.

Room Tip: We liked the 19 th floor facing the East River.

Within 10 minutes of checking into the Edison hotel we were in the middle of Times Square. The Edison Hotel is all about location. Close to shops, cafes and the theatre. Whilst the room we had on the 22nd floor was basic, it was perfect for us. A family of three. Our adult daughter slept on the pull out bed in the lounge room. Good security, quiet and being on the 22nd floor meant we had not problems getting the lifts.
Avoid the restaurant for breakfast - pretty average, more like a train station cafe.
Would certainly stay there again because of the location and price.

Room Tip: High floors - eg 22nd floor make it easy to get the lift. Less noise

Myself and my wife have just returned from a 7 night trip to New York, we stayed at the Edison Hotel and for the price I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The location is fantastic, fantastic, fantastic and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes the decor is a little dated but after a day sightseeing in New York, we couldn't care less what colour the carpet or bathroom tile was. We could have slept on a clothes line we were so tired. Just to be able to drop your shopping bags back and head off again was brilliant. Having stayed at various hotels on other trips to New York, the Edison is the only one I would happily stay in again. For anyone going to New York to shop and see the sights this is a perfect location. It's clean, friendly and perfectly adequate. John O Donovan

Just returned from a 4 night break at the Edison. Location is excellent however the room i stayed in was very shabby, paint chipped all over, tatty carpets and so small. Worst smell ever as well. Asked for low floor, i know this cant be guaranteed but i was given the 21st floor (theres only 22)! seen plenty of other people checking in and getting out much lower so dont think this was considered at all. Judging by the corridor which again was the shabbiest corridor i have ever seen i think we were placed in the worst part of hotel. Will definitely return to New York and should the hotel be refurbished i will return due to the location but if not will stay elsewhere.

We were very sorry that you were dissatisfied with your room. If you reserved one of our Combo/Family suites, these are located only on the higher floors and may be one of the reasons a lower floor could not be assigned. The hotel is currently in the renovation process, with these floors being next. The hotel was built in 1931 when room size expectations were more modest in a city where space is always at a premium. We do have varying size rooms in our hotel but during times of high occupancy, as was the case during your stay, we must make use of all the rooms at our disposal. We hope you will return to one of our fully renovated Signature rooms. We are confident you will be satisfied with the renovations.
