Heritage Hotel New York City

Thanks to Fashion Week in NY, the hotel prices were even more sky high than normal. I paid $339.00 for this little hotel right near the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park. Now, $339, in most other cities in the US, will get you some level of luxury-but not here! This is a typical European Tourist Mill. Nothing wrong with that, but if you are on business and looking for even a level of a Holiday Inn Express, you won't get it here. I don't like going into a room that has an aroma, that of a gym locker room. The room was large enough, had a new TV. The bed- ok and I hope new and clean-that's a leap of faith! It was fairly quiet-I was on the top floor. Expect for the banging doors throughout the night. Why people can't just hold the door and close it quietly in hotels is beyond me. The Breakfast room and selection was not bad. The internet-did not use. Don't know if there is a gym or not. Don't expect a spacious, artsy lobby here-more like rooming house basic. The staff- indifferent. I have been in much nicer hotels in this area, so I can't really recommend this for business stay.

Stayed in this hotel as we are a family of 5 not wanting to book two rooms. This hotel was able to cater for us in one room. Room was clean, a little small but adequate for our needs. Situated right next to The Flat Iron Building & only minutes walking distance from The Empire State Building. We had 3 nights here. Breakfast was included in our rate which was all ok. Cereals, toast, pastries, a waffle machine etc. Complimentary tea/coffee in reception at all times was very handy. Concierge could do with doing their homework a little more on the hotel amenities & what is on offer in & around New York. All in all this hotel is fine as a pit stop & place to sleep. Dont book if you want more luxurious stay in Manhatten.

When planning a long weekend in NYC for 6 friends, this was the only hotel we could find that could accommodate our group for the price of a single room. It's actually a 2 room suite with a king bed in one room and 2 double beds in the other. We even had a view of the Empire State Building. Only 1 tiny bathroom but we managed OK. The elevator is small and slow but we were on the 3rd floor so we took the stairs if we didn't want to wait.
The Chelsea location is within walking distance to several subway stations. At the end of the block is a 24 hour CVS and a Fairway Market if you want drinks and snacks for the mini fridge. There's also a free breakfast at the hotel. Nothing fancy but good enough you get you on your way.
All in all we were very happy with our stay. Perfect place for a large group on a budget!

The Comfort Inn Chelsea is in a great location, around the corner from the subway. The staff are very helpful and the price is incredible given what hotels are charging in NYC these days. The rooms are extremely small - barely any floor space to walk from the bed to the bathroom. It is an old hotel with two very small elevators (holds no more than 3-4 people.) They have smoking rooms which adds a layer of dinginess. Although breakfast is included, your best bet is to walk to the corner to find a deli. In any other city, I would not consider staying in a hotel like this but in New York it is a rare find!

Room Tip: Make sure that you ask for a non-smoking floor when making your reservation.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn Chelsea for 4 days from 22 July 2013 onward.
The hotel is blessed with a central location. It is located at the beginning of the Chelsea section of the city. The hotel room contained a safe, a mini-fridge and A/C. It was clean, comfortable and ... compact.
Thanks to my AAA membership, I got a great rate on the room. Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the Comfort Inn Chelsea. It's in a good location and it's economical.

We chose this hotel because this is one of the few hotels in Manhattan that can accommodate a group of 6 at a reasonable rate, without having to pay for separate rooms. Our suite consisted of one room with two double beds, TV and closet and another room with a King bed, bathroom, safe, coffeemaker, TV, closet and mini-fridge. We were not expecting a five star hotel so we were not disappointed. There are some things that could be improved but for the rate, these are things that were not super important to us, especially because we did not spend too much time in the room: The A/C was loud, the rooms were small, the exhaust vent on the bathroom was full of lint/dust and the safe was not working when we arrived. However, we had a nice Empire State view from our window and the location is great, two short blocks to the subway, right next to the Flatiron building; and breakfast was included. The breakfast was slightly better than the typical free breakfast: Muffins, toast, bagels, bananas, oranges, apples, instant oatmeal, yogurt, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and sausages. We all found something to eat to keep us going until lunchtime. The gentleman tending the breakfast room was super efficient and attentive.

Location is convinience, but this is the most we can say about the hotel.

As we loaded the laugage on a cart, we struggled with it to the elevator. It did not fit in. The
concierge did not know which elevator can be used...
More struggle was to get the cart through 3 doors in our floor to the room...

The safe did not work, and manitenance worker worked on it for some hour before he gave up and told us it would be done the next day...

Same happened with the phone set beside the main bed. Next day...

Next morning we went out by 9AM and came back by 3PM very tired, exhaousted from the heat in Manhattan. As it turned out the room was not done yet...
After asking, we were told it was done regulary by 5PM. So we had to wait in the room while the cleaner came to do her job...

Rooms are tiny but this probably what is expected in Manhattan.
AC is very noisy.

Sounds confusing? That's exactly my feeling.
