“Was there for the 9/11 Memorial”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Two of us travelled to this hotel from Canada from Sept 9-13th 2012 in order for my partner to read names at the 9/11 memorial. The only thing we had done was read some reviews about this hotel and knew very little else about the area so were quite nervous about staying here as some of the reviews weren't too "upbeat". We were absolutely THRILLED with what we found.

Yes, it's a small hotel. Yes the rooms are small. What do you expect for under $300.00 a night in downtown Manhattan? Yes, there is a bit of construction (there is a light at the end though...they are almost done). Our room was spotless, the halways small but spotless, the lobby the same, as was the breakfast room which can sit up to 35 people at a time (I counted chairs because several complained it was so small.) Breakfast was typical Comfort Inn---all you need to start your day. Coffee, toast scrambled eggs, bagels, cereal, waffles, fruit, yogurt etc. If you want Eggs Benedict, stay at a Four Seasons.

We can't thank the staff enough for being as outgoing as they were. The concierge(s) helped us on several occasions, the front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful if they tried, and the info they had on the area/restraunts etc was superb!

We had a king bed with two end tables, a desk, wardrobe, bar fridge, coffee maker, 42 inch flat screen, in room free wifi, and fresh towels/coffee daily. Air conditioning was just fine too. Yes, the bathroom was small, but just how much time do you need to spend in a bathroom? It's not like you are sleeping in there! The view looked at another building, but if we'd wanted a "view" we would have stayed on Central Park.

We could walk EVERYWHERE in a very short period of time. And we walked from the World Trade Centre memorial back in about 45 minutes. Madison Square Park is 1 minute around the corner, "Eatily" is 3 minutes away, subway the same...what more do you need?

We are definitely happy about this hotel, it's location, the staff, cleanliness---everything that we encountered. And we have travelled a great deal all over the US, Canada, Carribean. Would DEFINITELY stay here again...could've stayed at a high-end hotel but why when we were just there to sleep? Don't hesitate to book into this gem of a place.

Room Tip: Had room 810...surprised we could still smoke in a hotel!

My boyfriend and I stopped over in New York City for a couple days on our way to Montreal, Canada. We were taking an early morning train to Montreal so we wanted to stay at a reasonably priced nice hotel in walking distance from Penn Station. Staying at the Comfort Inn Chelsea exceeded our needs and helped make this leg of our trip a really nice experience.

Check-in went quickly and smoothly; staff was very friendly. We were pleased with our king room, it was a little small as our bed dominated the room but the room was clean and in good condition. We thought it had been recently renovated as everything seemed newer (i.e., paint, wallpaper, etc.) The bathroom was also clean and in good condition, though also a little on the small side. My only complaint was there wasn't much space to put anything in the tub area, i.e. full size shampoo, conditioner, etc. The refrigerator worked well as did the nice sized flat screen tv. The bed was huge and very comfy; we both slept very well and the room was very quiet despite the building work and renovations being done. We had no problems with wi-fi, which was fortunate since you have to pay by the minute to use the internet in the hotel business center. The A/C worked really well too.

Location was great; I felt it was a very safe neighborhood and centrally located to the attractions we wanted to visit. The concierge was friendly and helpful in directing us as well. Getting to the subway was an easy walk and there were a lot of close by places to eat and buy stuff that we needed unexpectedly.

Breakfast was pleasant; there was a nicely appointed dining area that was large and well maintained. There was an array of hot and cold items that was plentiful, plus Belgian wafflemakers were available. We had a very early start to go take the train at Penn Station but breakfast was ready and waiting! Check-out went smoothy as well.

I would definitely be willing to stay here again the next time I'm in NYC; the reasonable prices, great location, amenities and proximity to Penn Station make it a great value!

We (2 fam. travelling with teenagers) had a return visit to NYC and the Comfort Inn. Travelling with 2 teens we needed 2 rooms or app. and therefore chose the Comfort Inn again. You get a good deal when booking the 2 room app. with 1 king and 2 queens. Leaves you enough space...and reasonably prized - esp. if you book early - for NY. Though we did have just one bathroom, but its NY, small but clean, so no complains...Rooms were well kept, in good condition. Breakfast was plenty and quite good. Best is the location just around the corner from Flat Iron Building. And of course in Chelsea...just love this quarter...
If travelling again with 4 p/fam. I would def. choose this hotel again...the price-offer is just unbeatable then...
...to mention sleeping...very quiet although with the building-work outside (they usually do not work in the night...hah...)...and the beds were really fantastic...no complaints...
Reg. the website fotos: the BAR does not exist...it's used as breakfast room...

My son and I stay in NYC every few months. This is the first time we've stayed at this Comfort Inn - we usually stay at another hotel in Chelsea. We stayed from August 31-Sept. 2. Rates were lower on Friday night but went up for the weekend. The Comfort Inn is a bit less expensive than our usual hotel, but it is also not at the level of some of the other area hotels. Our room with two twin beds wasn't tiny but was small, as was the bathroom. It was adequate - a bit worn and dated, and smelled musty until we ran the air conditioner. Walls are thin so we could hear noises around us as well as street noise. The hotel is undergoing a facelift, so the stairwell nearby us was dusty, and there was plaster on the rugs. There are two elevators, both of which are slow. The building itself is narrow but has a certain charm. The staff can be a bit disorganized. They had listed our reservation under my husband's first name, though he had booked it in both his and my name, so they couldn't find the reservation without the confirmation number. A man registering next to us had booked a room with a roll-away only to be informed that the roll-away might not fit in his room and that he might need to book an additional room. Breakfast is mediocre, though there are hard boiled eggs. On the plus side, the hotel is very well located between Greenwich Village and Times Square so it's possible to walk almost anywhere.

Room Tip: Ask if there's any construction or refurbishing going on and make sure to avoid those areas. Th...

Stayed here for a friend's bachelorette party. It was centerally located to everything we wanted to do. The breakfast was suprisiling good and included bacon and hot eggs. The room we had was tiny but we werent expecting too much in the middle of manhatten. The hotel was clean and had all the ameneties we needed. The staff was kind enough to let us leave our luggage until we could check in as we arrived very early. They even refrigerated our leftovers. Concierge was very helpful. Would definetly stay again if I am lucky enought to get back to New York.

My husband and I stayed there from August 4-6 and were pleasantly surprised. Although the hotel doesn't look that great from the outside, the room was well equipped with kingsize bed and larger than we expected. It was very clean and the bed quite comfortable with ample pillows. It was an extremely hot weekend so the aircon was an absolute necessity. It worked like a charm and was reasonably quiet. Internet was included and worked flawlessly. The flat screen TV had a good selection of channels including HBO lineup. Bathroom was clean; amenities were plentiful. Shower pressure decent. Soundproofing was also very good. Two elevators helped transport us up to our 10th floor rooom. Staff was helpful especially the "doorman" who helped us navigate into a tight parking spot right across the street, saving us the expense of a private parking lot. The morning complementary breakfast was a big hit with a nice variety of hot and cold options. Newspapers also complementary. In addition, the location is great if you like Chelsea. Fun shopping and restaurants galore. Macy's is also within walking distance and subways nearby. All in all a very good experience at the Comfort Inn. It exceeded my expectations for a 2 star property. Would certainly consider staying there in the future.

My father and I stayed here for a couple nights from July 29-31, 2012. For older building the entire property immaculately clean. I found the shower to slippery and was concerned my father would slip and get injured. I mentioned my concern to the manager on our first morning there. When we returned to the room in the afternoon there was shower mat in tub. Everyone we encountered was extremely helpful, courteous and was able to help us or if not directed to someone who could help.

I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again on my next visit. It's located in a great area with many restaurant choices. We enjoyed "Eataly" a couple blocks south of the hotel.

Thank you for helping to make my visit to NYC great!
