“A Quiet Treasure”
Reviewed August 9, 2008

My young daughter and I stayed at the Iroquois for a trip to NYC and we were extremely pleased. The rooms were clean, the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the location was perfect. We were only a couple of blocks from Times Square yet the hotel was quiet and peaceful. They even left some goodies in our room for my daughter. We would definitely stay here again.

We searched expedia for the perfect hotel while we were in New York. We looked at the reveiws and judged the Iroquois the hotel that meet our desires. We wanted a hotel close to times square yet within walking distance to as many places as possible. We liked the charm of a vintage hotel which protrayed the romance of early era. Our hopes were more than meet. The hotel is smaller, rooms are smaller than the newer Ritz but the charm and the hospitality are beyond compare. We stayed one night at the Ritz for the fireworks and were so glad to come home to the Iroquis the next day. We missed the personal touch, we missed our friends at the Iroquois. The staff had nothing of the forced friendlyness we have found at other hotels.

The rooms were beautiful, the bed was a dream, this was the perfect place to come back to after a wonderful day of exploring New York City.

Marga Snyder was spectacular as the concierge, she researched our desires for tickets and shows, booked events and gave us information and followed up on all bookings. She also gave us information of other events that we might be interested in. We greatly appreciate her effort, she added so much to our vacation.

At about $400 for a Saturday night stay, my expectations were pretty high for the Iroquois. While it didn’t disappoint, it didn’t exceed either. I can’t quibble with the location; it is in the Theater District without the cacophony of Times Square and provides easy walking to great restaurants and to Grand Central Terminal. The room was about as small as a luxurious queen-size bed would allow and yet there was plenty of closet space (?). The only common area is the “library” which the hotel describes as “cozy” – “cramped” might be another word one would use.

Stayed six nights on business. The hotel is an oasis of calm in hustle and hassle of Manhatten. The staff is excellent. The rooms are clean and well kept. A good nights sleep every night.

As has been written before this is a great central location for a lot of the sights and Broadway.

The highlights for me were the rooms which were comfortable, quiet and a reasonable size compared to some I have stayed in in NY as well as the check-in and concierge staff who couldn't have been more helpful.

Another plus was confirmed rooms next to our children.

The downside is that the hotel perhaps lacks a little soul as there is no real lobby area to have a drink and relax while waiting for the rest of the party or deciding what to do next. There is the small bar and restaurant but I usually prefer the lobby area for that 15 to 20 minute chill time. They were renovating the lobby so that might address this when completed - like the previous review the renovation whilst disappointing was not a major distraction.

All in all a good hotel - not sure it lives up to a "leading hotel" tag but I would still consider it to stay as it ticked a lot of the boxes with clean, comfortable and quiet rooms and good service coupled with the location.

My husband and I recently stayed here one night while in NYC. The hotel was well kept- clean, spacious room. It's considered a small luxury hotel. The staff were friendly, and offered ideas for restaurants. The location is great- walking distance to Times Square, Empire State Building, etc. Cabs were very easy to get outside to go to other areas of the city.

The only downside, and it didn't affect us at all, is they are currently renovating the lobby. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to everyone.

This hotel was the perfect way to end a round-world trip. The location is sensational, right in midtown. 5 minutes walk from Times Square, and Grand Central Station. Central Park is only 15 mins walk away. The staff here are so friendly, helpful and polite. Their welcome was gratefully received after a flight from London. Nothing was a problem for them. The room, while a little small, was beautiful. Flat screen TV, the largest minibar selection you could hope for...and the beds. I could rave about the beds here for hours.... like sleeping on a cloud. Soft, relaxing. Three pillows to each bed, with luxurious linens. The bathroom was clad in marble, and spacious. With a bathtub. The service to the room was fantastic, quick and friendly. A point to note though, our room wasnt cleaned/beds made by housekeeping on our second day, until 3pm. I found that unusual. Maybe its common in NYC. My only true criticism of the hotel would be the door to our room. It rattled whenever the lift opened, or whenever another guest opened their room door. This was room 1001. No Fridge, but Ice is provided on request, or during the turn down service. A fantastic hotel for a little luxury in New York, and the most incredible sleep. Where can I buy one of those beds!?
