“Fabulous staff and luxurious European style hotel”
Reviewed October 15, 2007

We enjoyed The Iroquois as our platform for a wedding weekend in New York.

Over the four days, we had events throughout town .... Central Park West, Upper East Side, a gathering and run in Central Park, The Boathouse, Battery Park Gardens, and there in Mid-Town at The Century. With one suite and four additional rooms for a total of 17 room-nights, we had special needs in setting up, cars to and from, extra towels, and TLC. Quiet and convenient.

Every member of The Iroguois staff rose to the occasion, was thoroughly warm, accommodating, and thorough. Enjoy!

This is a great small hotel. The linens are first class, the bathroom is very clean and modern. One of the best showers I have ever had in a hotel room, the hot water came in immediately and lots of water force from the shower.

The only complaint I have is that the room is dark. Dark blinds on the windows and only three lights in the room. I ended up taking the shade off the lights to get more light. Also, the Do Not Disturb notice is on the doorbell and not a hanging sign. Because we did not know where to turn the sign on, we were disturbed both mornings at 8:30 and one afternoon, the maid just walked in while we were in the room.

Also, if you have a car there is not a designated area to park in front of the hotel to check in and no valet. The parking garage is across the street with a discount of the daily rate for hotel guests - $30 per day. Small inconvience but certainly doesn't take anything away from the hotel.

Nice little bar off the lobby, closed on Sundays.

stayed for two nights on business, appreciated the helpful front desk, high quality linens, bathrobe, marble tiles, chocolates on the pillow, and efficient air conditioning. pleasantly surprised to find that although my room was quite small, it had windows in the bedroom, bathroom, and closet. and it could not be in a more central location, beyond all of the attractions, if you're looking for a drugstore or food most hours of the day/evening, not to worry.

  • Liked — the sheets and towels
  • Disliked — room size, though I'm being picky - as a single traveler it was not a problem

I want to begin by saying that the Iroquois reception and reservation staff are superb. It was their friendly telephone manner that determined our selection of the hotel. As well, we were truly grateful for the bottle of wine and chocolates they gave us in celebration of our 25 year anniversary. We also believe that the amazing room we had was because of the staff wanting us to have a memorable occasion.
The sleeping room and bathroom were luxurious. However, the shorten queen size bed felt a bit odd as your feet and legs hang over the end. There is no readily available ice or ice bucket. As well, if you touch anything in the bar fridge, the item's price is automatically added to your bill. So if you are thinking of having a chilled glass of wine, you need to involve housekeeping or make sure that you tell the front desk to deduct any "moved" items from your bill. If you are wanting a cup of coffee in the morning to warm you feet that may have been exposed to the night air, you will need to call room service or go down to the front lobby since there are no coffee makers in the rooms.
Having no readily available ice or coffee is not a big deal. And as for a shorten bed the amazing pillows and sheets make up for any discomfort. What reduces our rating of this hotel is the lousy housekeeping. Dirty glasses were not removed and cleaning was minimal. As for complaining about this lack of service, we should have talked to the front desk since contacted housekeeping staff made no apology for their lack of effort.
So our recommendation for this hotel is excellent if you get a good rate.
We have two other more generic travel complaints. We can't stand bell boys. If we were able to carry our luggage half around the global, why do hotels think it is imperative to pay someone to take our luggage via elevator 100 feet? If we need help, we will ask for it. I would rather just give $5 dollars to a bell boy just to leave us alone. Our next beef is with US airways, who cancelled our flight 2.5 hours before departure without any compensation or assistance in finding alternative arrangements. Many of the 65 stranded passengers spent the night in the LaGuardia airport waiting for the next available flight. Next time we’ll take Blue.

As a transplanted native New Yorker who travels to the City on business at least twice a month, I try to stay at The Iroquois as often as I possibly can. I can count on smiling faces and consistently considerate service and amentities when I come "home" after horrible flight or back-to-back meetings. And, they have a fabulous flight status tool that has saved me many hours hanging around airports. JQuinn,Chapel Hill, NC

Stayed at the Iroquois last night and was very pleased. Attention to detail counts, from the courtesy at the front desk checking in (with the lovely tea offered at the front desk); the king sized firm bed and firm pillows; complimentary sparkling water, flat screen TV; an abundance of towels and toiletries in the bathroom, which had lovely hot, hot water; the lovely young woman who came for the turn down service and offered me extra chocolates; and lastly, upon departure being asked if I enjoyed my stay. I've stayed several times at a well-known hotel just a few doors down and never had the service I received at this hotel. Small but elegant. Give it a try.

My daughter and I stayed at The Iroquois for a week last month and we couldn't fault this Hotel in any way! We travel a lot and have had many hotel experiences, however, The Iroquois is definitely second to none! The rooms are very spacious given the prime position of this Hotel and have been refurbished without sparing any expense. The marble bathroom is simply divine and the amenities that this Hotel afford are more than generous. The library area off the main entrance is also divine.

The room service meal that we enjoyed on our first night after a long day of travelling to NYC was five star as was their Restaurant. We have found a regular stomping ground for our future visits to NY and we would not stay anywhere else upon our return!

Last but not least the staff are extremely friendly and the Manager of this Hotel is very much "hands on" and wants only the best for the Hotel guests! K. Berkhout, Australia
