Tucked right off Broadway, this hotel feels like renting an apartment. The rooms are not cookie-cutter and neighborhood is great. My room was classic UWS feel - wood floors, radiator heat and a tiny bathroom. But I loved it. I loved being able to choose express train or local, hitting Zabar's for breakfast, and walking back from midtown meetings through the park. Lobby renovation was done, though bar (coffee bar?) didn't seem functional yet. My room was quiet and comfy, but not large.

The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations in the lobby. I think that for this reason, the "complimentary breakfast" was served in a tiny room, and was basically coffee and junk food. I had explored the possibility of driving, but they wanted $45 to park it, and another $45 just to access the car, without even using it. Otherwise the room was alright. The wifi was slow.

Room Tip: As far away from the street as possible.

Dear J B,

The Hotel Belleclaire has recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation and continues to improve guest rooms and amenities. We are all very excited for this. The 2000 square foot lobby will have a full service bar with a light menu and lounge seating. We have recently opened our business center on the first floor (room 102) which has two classic arcade games with over 10,000 games, three 27 inch I Mac computers, and a flight tracking system that enables our guests to print their boarding passes. Between our location and our recent renovations, we are confident that we will have a successful product. We would be delighted to welcome you back to our hotel and can assure a pleasant, restful visit. Feel free to contact me directly or our General Manager; Scott Geres (212-706-4469 / sgeres@hotelbelleclaire.com), to discuss this matter further. We hope to see you soon!

Warm Regards,

Pros: good value on upper west side, close to Central Park and subway.
Cons: not quiet, far from downtown, not super clean.

The first room we stayed 715, in was facing the street and it was so loud I didn't sleep all nite, I wanted to cry!!. The street sounds along with some really loud banging from the ropes outside against the walls...the ac unit prevents the window from closing all the way so it's drafty and loud. The bathroom was kinda dirty, the tub didn't stop so you couldn't take a bath and the water didn't get hot, the toilet didn't flush. Upon request the hotel staffer Maria moved our rooms and even took care of moving our bags.
The second room we had was 322, facing a light well away from the street, very quiet, updated bathroom and everything worked fine. Both rooms were really decent size for NYC
I might stay here again, it wasn't terrible, we were happy with the second room and if that was the only room we had experienced it would've been much better all around.

Dear rmaehl,

Thank you for writing a review about the Hotel Belleclaire. Your feedback is essential to our success! However I am sorry that you had a less than exceptional experience and that there were a few elements of your stay (A/C, noise, hot water, bathroom: tub, toilet) that you found needed improvement, and these will certainly be addressed and corrected. In addition to our newly renovated and pristine lobby, we have renovated over half of our guest room bathrooms in the last year. The "green tiled" bathroom will be eliminated this year.

As you already kindly mention, Belleclaire is located close to the Central Park and the best museums in NY City. Our hotel is two blocks away from the subway train station and steps to some of the best small restaurants and coffee shops. If we could be of any assistance in your future plans, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at salesoffice@hotelbelleclaire.com or call (212) 706 4479. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

This was my 4th stay @ this hotel. I must say I would stay here again. This hotel was just remodeled. The lobby area is a nice comfortable retreat from the busy city. The staff is very attentive. The rooms are clean, the linen was luxurious, the maid service paid attention to detail, the desk staff was responsive to our needs, and the location was ideal. We were a very short walk to the subway system, Central Park, coffee shops, and the Museums( American Museum of Natural History and the Met). The business center has the most up to date technology and there is onsite exercise equipment. We had a great stay!!

My wife recently had business in NYC and the upper West side was a convenient location for us. We found the Hotel Belleclaire online, and decided to give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised. Located right off of Broadway on 77th St. (2 blocks from Central Park) this is clearly an older building. Having said that, they have done an incredible job of putting this hotel together. EVERYTHING has been redone. Crown moldings and wainscoting in the hallways, 2 small but new elevators, Toto toilets, flatscreen TV, thick plush towels, comfortable bedding, a small refrigerator, modern furniture, etc. etc.
The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Our 1st night there, we were given a room that faced Broadway. In our opinion it was on the noisy side. In the morning I called the front desk and they immediately switched us to a different room which was much more quiet. If street noise is an issue for you, I would suggest asking for a room not facing Broadway. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but they have coffee tea and hot chocolate in the lobby at all times with “to go” cups. It is 2 blocks from the subway (1 2 3 line), and lots of eating options nearby. Big Nick’s is right around the corner on Broadway, and there is a great Chinese/Cuban restaurant (yes, I know that sounds strange, but try it) one block north on Broadway. Both had great food and were inexpensive (for NYC). Lots of great shopping in the area, and overall, just a great place to stay. The rooms are not large, but did not feel cramped either. We both decided that for our next trip to NYC we will be staying at the Belleclaire.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms that face Broadway (street noise).

First time staying in NYC and this hotel was wonderful! The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was SUPER friendly! Some really good places nearby to grab breakfast before going out to explore the city. Central Park is just a short walk away. The subway is less than a block away and the Concierge really knew his stuff. We will definitely be back!

My husband, our two kiddos, and I just spent the week in NYC. The Hotel Belleclaire was perfect for us! The location, the staff, and our room exceeded our expectations! We loved the neighborhood feel of the UWS. The Hotel Belleclaire is close to many restaurants, just a couple of blocks away from a subway station, and offers an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our room was on the 8th floor and had great views of the city and river. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We are already planning our next trip for this upcoming June and will definitely stay here again!!
