Two of us stayed at this hotel for three nights this July. I chose the hotel pretty much for the location and also for being a small quirky hotel, with pretty good reviews. I would have been able to get a chain hotel room by Times Square for less money.
Our small room was in the end of a hallway. We had no view from the window, mostly the brick wall of the next building, but my husband chose a quiet room instead of a view. He was happy with the quietness. We didn't stay long enough in the hotel room anyhow to be bothered by that. There is lots to see in NYC. The room was pleasantly furnished and decorated. The air-conditioner must have been good enough, since the NYC weather was very hot and humid, but we were comfortable in the room. We had complimentary wifi and complimentary continental breakfast. There was also a coffeemaker in the room, and we had our personal bath robes. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The doormen were very kind and always greeted us smiling.
The best part about the hotel is the location. I love that area. Young people walking and hanging around. NYU gives the area a good atmosphere. Lots of interesting restaurants, bars and shops. A subway station for A/C trains close by. (A-Express train to JFK airport.)
The best part

What a pleasure to step out of the hotel directly to Washington square and the delightful streets of the Village - it has to be at one of the best locations in town. Beyond the location, the hotel is lovely - full of character and friendly staff. Although the room was rather small, it was very pleasant and enjoyable, with nice decor, very comfortable beds, and good room-darkening shades. The breakfast was rather minimal but sufficient. I will definitely stay at this hotel again, and have already recommended it to several friends.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the hallway are quieter

Room - Queen Deluxe. Being a solo traveler, the room was more than big enough. Bed was comfortable, room always clean, bathroom newley renovated, clean and spacious. Special mention to Housekeeping for noticing i enjoyed the coffee and always left me extra coffee pods and also the extra towels. Was much appreciated.

Staff - Friendly, helpful and attentive. Special mention to Ronnie the doorman. A lovely man and a wealth of knowledge. Was very helpful. The hotel barmans Apple Martinis - Seriously delish and just enough kick. Was fun to chat with as well.

Breakfast - A simple complimentary selection of Fruits, Yogurts, Bagels, Croissants, Juice and Coffee. Was enough to fuel up on if you're not a big eater or you just want a quick bite before heading out for the day. If you want a bigger, warmer, heartier breakfast you need to pay.

A small Art Deco Hotel located in Greenwich Village. The prefect location to surrounding Lower Manhattan neighborhoods. Plenty of bars, Cafes, restaurants to choose from in this charming neighborhood. Washington Square Park right across the street, West 4th St Subway station is around the corner from the hotel. Lots of shopping options in and around the Village too.

Would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view of city or Park. Book a Deluxe room.

This 100 year old hotel is located just off of Washington Square in Greenwich Village. While the rooms are somewhat small (this is New York City after all) they are clean and the bathrooms are renovated. I stayed in the larger room which was more than adequate. I stayed in a smaller room with two queen beds and it was somewhat cramped. But you stay here because when you step out the front door you are in one of the nicest residential areas of the city and close to all the action in Greenwich Village.

this hotel has an amazing location just steps away from Washington Square Park. It is near several subway stops, Prince and Spring Streets (fabulous shopping), and, of course, NYU. If you are a parent visiting your student look no further. the North End Restaurant has very good dining and probably the best breakfasts we've had (check out the challah French toast). The rooms are typical in size for NYC, and very clean. There are some nice amenities in the room such as an umbrella and wonderful bathrobes. The staff is friendly, and a special shout out to Kwesi, at the front desk who is helpful, kind and knowledgeable. Our room was on the Macdougal Street side was quiet the 5 nights we stayed.

I have stayed at the WSH multiple times. I cannot think of a better location for New York. The Hotel is at the corner of Washington Square Park. There is the energy of NYU students, the restaurants of Greenwich Village in walking distance as well at the Subway. Not flashy, but clean and comfortable. I must admit that I reluctantly endorse this place, I am actually grateful that most do not know of the place and it is easier to get reservations.

The window air conditioners might be considered noisy to some.

We loved staying at the Washington Square Hotel. The rooms are small but are very nice. Everything was clean and well maintained. Everyone there was very nice. The location is excellent. Across the street from Washington Square. The only negative is the breakfast. There wasn't much of a selection for me. I don't eat yogurt or cantelope.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor. My mom also stayed there and they were on the 3rd floor. The said our...
