In Greenwich Village right off Washington Square Park giving the Hotel its name and reason to be liked but besides this great location the room we had was too small for comfort...no armchair..While clean and well appointed, it was dark and with an uneasy thermostat.
The reception staff was friendly and helpful besides the gate keeper to the bar who seemed bothered to let us in 30 mn before closure.
Dining here can be nice however surprised to be served by such lovely but young and inexperienced personnel.
As for breakfast, included , plan on cleaning your own table first...
I would return here here asking for a more comfortable room....if the price was right!

Room Tip: ask for large and sunny room!

We stayed with a family of 6 in this hotel during Easter vacation 2013.
For New York standards this hotel is very good value for your money.
Lots of previous comments say that the rooms are very small, but I've seen much worse. In fact you're very comfortable, space enough for the two large luggages and a well equiped bathroom. Only tyhe cleaning of the rooms could have been better.
Breakfast is included, wich is also a very positive thing in the US.
In the lobby, you will certainly meet Ronny, an incredible person who's always there to help you with all kinds of usefull information, discount coupons and tips and tricks to enjoy your New York visit the most.
And another big plus is the location. At only 100 meter you have the B, D, M, F, A, B and C lines of the metro. Most of the places are reachable without changing. Everything in Manhattan or Brooklyn within 20 minutes.
And of course, you're in the West Village and near to SoHo and Chelsea. No hard work to find a lot of nice reataurants, pubs, jazz café's and unlimited shopping.
This was my fifth visit to the big apple, first time in this hotel, but next time for sure in the same place.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th and 7th floor. It seems that the rooms on those higher floors are a bit bigger th...

this old village hotel is not for all. small rooms and hallways. well appointed and clean. right off the Washington Sq. park so in the heart of Greenwich Village...near all sorts of restaurants, high end to some of the best Pizza, anywhere. Around the Block from Blue Note for Jazz or a host of blues/rock/country music halls on Bleeker St....price point off season is very reasonable but remember , these are smaller rooms, no gyms...neat lobby bar and has more of a pension feel to it... i like it especially for a a night out or two in the "village".

We take multiple trips to NYC every year and have stayed in several areas - for the West Village location I like this quiet hotel, very little traffic noise and directly across from the Washington Square Park which is a nice green space. Also gives a good breakfast, comfortable beds and friendly staff. Like most NY hotels, rooms are small with no balcony. Great walking location and reasonable price make this hotel an easy choice to be near NYU and downtown west side.

This is a good hotel, the location is excellent for Greenwich village - great restaurants - and 'reasonably' priced for New York, but it seemed a bit tired and in need of a make over. Narrow corridors

The location is perfect, as everyone points out. My room was small, but that goes with the location. However, everything you could want was in it, including an iron and ironing board. The wifi was included in the price, and because it was my first stay, the staff kindly gave me vouchers for the waiter service breakfast, which was also excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not next door the elevator. (I sleep through fire alarms, so it didn't bo...

I stayed here while attending a conference. It is a beautiful little hotel, The staff is very warm and friendly, They also have an excellent restaurant and bar. The location is wonderful. Rooms tend to be on the small size, but it is new York. Theonly negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that the bed was very unconfortable and lumpy. I would stay here again though

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room. Also ask for a room with a view
