an untypical smallish hotel with good ambiance, though our room was pretty small. staff are welcoming and efficient, though aged 77 I do not like being patronised with 'young man' by a doorman (who also loaded one of someone else's suitcases into our cab in error). quite good complementary continental breakfast in a crowded dining room.
overall a good visit and we will return.

Elegant hotel from another century (in terms of decor and respectful staff), furnished with all the modern-day amenities (and continental breakfast), and in a prime location (NW corner of Washington Square Park, near the NYU campus, great restaurants, and a bunch of subway lines; very safe area, with a 24 hour drug store down the street for your every need). Staff was so friendly and so warm, they started greeting us by name whenever we left or came back into the hotel. Rooms were clean, service was prompt, and baggage check was quick and professional. Tip: look on website for promotional discounts. A++++, would stay again!

Room Tip: Lower floors have a bit of noise, but otherwise all rooms are pretty perfect!

The staff is very friendly, it's nice and clean. The rooms are very quiet. Breakfast is fine. The area around the hotel has a very nice admosphere, there is a park very close where a lot of musicians play there music. There was also a stawbery festival in May.

We just spent 4 nights at this hotel & loved it. So handy to subway, restaurants, walking around Greenwich & shopping in Soho. Staff are great, especially Ronnie who helped us every day with great advice. Rooms are not huge but we found that there was enough space. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

I love the Art-Deco flair of this 110 year old hotel in the heart of Greenwich village. Right across from Washington Square Park, the location allows you safe and easy access to the city on foot. The rooms are comfortable and modern. Sunday brunch at the Washington Square Hotel restaurant is fantastic--once you decide on this hotel, book early--it fills up fast.

This was a quaint litle hotel in a great location, right opposite Washington Square Park.
Subway stop one minutes walk away, lots of little restaurants and shops close by, and a great neighbourhood just to stroll around.
Our room was only tiny, and unfortunately had only a view of the brick wall of the building next door. The bathrooms had obviosuly just been renovated and were reasonably spacious and modern. The bed was really comy with great bedlinen. The super freiendly concierge, Ronny was always on hand with great tips of where to go and how to get there, even gave us a sample of his famous chilli sauce to bring home to Australia. The small breakfast is a nice touch if you just want something simple to get you started. Would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room that doesn't look out on to a brick wall

I stayed here in December 2012 and thought it was perfect. Washington Square Park is literally at your doorstep and there's a subway station just down the street. It is also close to the famous John's Pizza and a Grays Papaya so you can try some real New York food.
I liked the eclectic feel of the hotel. It had a boutique look about it and the little corridors to the rooms made it feel more homey than the big hotel chains but i did have some trouble maneuvering my suitcase through the hallways when other people were trying to get past. Also they only have 1 elevator and it's really slow; it didn't bother me that much because we were only on the 2nd floor so took the stairs (which were hard to find!) most of the time.
The included breakfast was good; bagels, toast, fruit and cereal and a few spreads along with tea, coffee and juice but the room it was served in was so small that it was hard to get a table so 2 mornings we had to stand and eat.
The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions we had about where to eat and what to see. Being right in Greenwich was nice because it has a totally different feel to staying in Times Square or Midtown where I have stayed before.

Room Tip: If you don't mind waiting for the elevator ask for a room on the top floor for a good view of th...
