Night Times Square
Ranked #339 of 469 Hotels in New York City

We booked this hotel because of the website pictures and location (which is great!!). We booked a King size room as we had heard it had small rooms in general and we also booked a high floor due to references on here that the bar was noisy....

The bathroom (well, shower room as no rooms have a bath) was tiny and the room the same. We were planning to do some shopping and I can assure you that any shopping would have left the room unusable. The windows also let a lot of street noise through and the bed seemed old.

We immediately went in search for a new hotel and upon finding one we checked out of the Stay. I informed them that the room was not what we expected from the pictures on the website and that we were willing to pay for one night. The receptionists actually had the nerve to charge us for 2 nights even though we had spent exactly 1 hour in the hotel!!!

The next day I went back to talk to the manager and she had the sense to return the charge of one night as indeed two was according to the regulation but clearly not very fair in this case.

So... my overall opinion? It is VERY well located right next to Times Square... but it is NOT a boutique hotel but instead a trendy hostel. And in that case I think it was overpriced! We moved to the W hotel, which was just as close to Times Square, had a room twice as big with a bath and plenty of room... for only 40% more... Yes, it´s 40% more but for a great hotel, huge room and a lot more modern with all the facilities!

Room Tip: High floor and maybe away from the street as the windows are not very soundproof.

Arrived at this hotel to find it the opposite to what I was expecting. I didnt find it modern, rather very cheap looking.
I paid quite a lot and was given a room with an inch for a window that over looked walls.
Later, the next day after complaining I was moved to a room that over looked the entrance side of the hotel.
The quality through out the hotel was very old and basic. I handed in my cancelation notice of 24hrs and moved hotels.
The only plus of this hotel is its location. Dont be fooled by the photographs.

Room Tip: Dont let the photos fool you!

My brother-in-law booked this hotel after searching the internet and it turned out to be perfect for the one night we were there. The lobby was impressive, the staff was friendly, the restaurant and bar looked inviting (although we didn't have time to enjoy either), our rooms were clean, and the price was right! I did email ahead (after reading the reviews about the noise on the lower floors) and was assured that we would be accommodated and we were. Our rooms were on the ninth floor and we had no issues with noise when it came time to sleep.

Another BIG plus was location. Stay. was right in the heart of everything we had planned on doing that weekend....a concert at Radio City (FUN.) and a Broadway play (Wicked).

The only reason I gave this hotel a very good rating and not an excellent one was because of the room size and the view from the window (we were staring into a brick wall)....but since we were only in our rooms to sleep and shower, it wasn't that big of a deal. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if the opportunity would present itself.

Room Tip: Oh! One more thing. I'm not sure if it was an issue with 9th floor rooms or not, but our room...

This hotel has such a great location it is literally on Times Square.
It is very modern on the inside and quite funky.
Check in was quick and painless.
The room really is small no wardrobe no where to really put your bags.
They are however clean comfortable and the space once you get use to it is fine.
The location and modern decor cannot be beat we had a good Stay all round

We stayed at the Stay hotel just off Times Square, New York arriving on the 2nd of Feb 2012. Extremely cold arrival weather wise, receptionist welcoming however during the stay one or two were surly when asked general questions regarding New York. First room we were given was very small, revisited receptionist who then gave us a disabled room on the same floor. The actual location is ideal for sight sighing, just 40-50 metres from Times Square itself. It also has a couple of Irish bars on the same street, both worth a visit. Our bed was soft and not very big for a double but the biggest issue was that our room overlooked 47th st itself which was noisey 24 hours a day as you can imagine. We loved New York, absolutely loads of things to do. I'd recommend it to anyone. We went their to get married. As mentioned in previous reviews lift very slow but there is two of them so no massives dramas. If you want a basic hotel room which is very clean, well presented but small then this is the hotel for you. Due to it's location I would recommend this hotel. We got want we paid for and yes I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking 47st can be noisey at times, if you're unhappy with room size ask for a change...

My husband and I spent two nights here during Toy Fair 2013. The hotel was conveniently located right off of Times Square...Very unassuming from the outside yet sleek, and even a bit funky, on the inside. We prefer to stay in the boutique-style hotels rather than the big chains & we got a great rate on this one. Our room was small - even for a boutique hotel - and basic in decor yet it was clean, comfortable and perfect for what we needed it for. We were on the 6th floor and never had to wait long for an elevator, or deal with noise. Check-in & check-out were both quick & easy. The staff we encountered were all pleasant. Based on the other boutique hotels we have stayed in, in NYC, this ranks 2nd on our list for room size/quality (The Night hotel a few blocks over is our top pick - bigger room for the price & the room decor was more modern too). We would stay at the STAY again and would absolutely recommend it to others!

Excellent choice, modern design, comfortable bed and bed linens - I didn't want to leave.
Rooms are smaller than in some hotels but comfortable and clean. A little noise from the bar downstairs when a party arrived. Just steps away from Times Square and many restaurants and theaters. Staff friendly and helpful. Most enjoyable break.

Room Tip: 2 small elevators and higher up would hear less noise.
