Econo Lodge Times Square
Ranked #263 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Having grown up in Jersey, I never really had much of a reason to stay IN the city, until we decided to extend a recent working trip to the area and decided commuting for our adventures wouldn't be nearly as fun as getting the FULL NYC experience. So, not even I was quite sure on what to expect with our stay in the Econo Lodge in Times Square.

Upon our arrival in NYC, we decided to make the 15 minute walk from Penn Station to Times Square, and into the Econo Lodge's doors. Sean and I pride ourselves - maybe even a bit too much - on being hospitality geeks of sorts; having both worked for the likes of Disney and Universal - we've come to crave a certain level of hospitality when traveling. And, yes. I may or may not have some "requirements" hotels have to meet before I even consider staying there! The Econo Lodge in Times Square did NOT disappoint.

We were greeted with one of the FRIENDLIEST of staffs I've ever met -- honestly, EVERYONE we came in contact with treated us like family, and extended us the warmest of greetings every time we saw them. The rooms were clean and perfectly comfortable for the time that we were there (a note to mention: hotel rooms, in general, in NYC aren't exactly the size many of us are normally accustomed to -- but this didn't bother us a bit as we used the room for minimal downtime and the occasional sleeping when we weren't busy exploring) - and we had a great view of the streets and buildings around us.

Another GREAT feature of the Econo Lodge in Times Square is, quite simply, it's LOCATION! Found on the corner of 47th and 7th -- you're a quick walk from nearby subway stations. Where we were able to have quick, easy access to the E train (for downtown travel - think World Trade Center Memorial, Battery Park, views of the Statue of Liberty, etc) -- and even the B and D trains where we were able to get an express train to The Bronx and Yankees Stadium. In the heart of the City, you'll also find that the Econo Lodge is an easy walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and even The Empire State Building.

I honestly could not say enough incredible things about this property -- and we will ABSOLUTELY be seeking the Econo Lodge out on our future trips into New York. A HUGE Thank You to The Econo Lodge in Times Square, for making us feel like we had a home within The City -- we would definitely recommend this property to anyone!

Room Tip: We had room 416 -- which had a nice little corner view of the streets below.

Me and the wife stayed here for 5nights end of May. We booked through a travel agent who reccomended Econo Lodge as our critia was somewhere in Time Square area which was reasonably priced, mainly because we felt TS gave the best locaiton and we were not going to spend much time in the hotel as we would be out and about all day. This hotel met our criteria fully!!!
The rooms are small, fits a double bed and a bathroom, however it was just fine for what we required for our trip. There can be abit of noise at night, however this wasnt too much of an issue after the first night as we got used to it.
The rooms and hotel are very clean and the staff are extremely helpful and polite.
We would choose this hotel again if in NYC

Awesome location and great rates for a last minute trip to NYC. The rooms were clean and staff members were pleasant. Our front desk clerk, Trinita Meade was especially helpful with providing info on the city's best locations to visit, and the easiest ways to get around. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed there for 3 day`s prior to heading to fort Lauderdale for a cruise. What a great location. Close to everything & spotless.Having been to New York 3 times before I can say the staff here were by far the nicest we have encountered. They were great, very rarely can you have a bit of a chat with receptionists at hotels, but here they very chatty & friendly. Also all staff were very nice. The breakfast was great fun sitting in reception with everyone talking to one another. A big difference to a hotel were the people have their own tables. The only problem is the outside noise during the night. But taking that into account, if ever in New York will be certain to go back to this place.

My husband and I stayed for one night during Memorial Day weekend. We had a great time. We were mostly looking for a room to sleep in since were gonna do a lot of walking around. The price was great for the location and having breakfast available was such a plus (this is very rare in Manhattan). The rooms were clean and he staff was helpful and kind.

I saw some reviews of people complaining about the size of the room, and although they really are small, it is expected for that price in the city. We did not mind.

Be aware that breakfast is served in the lobby and there is not much room to eat downstairs. However, my husband and I just took our food to our room and enjoyed it quietly upstairs.

If you are looking for a place on a budget to just rest and shower, this is the place to stay. We will most likely be back and I would recommend to a friend.

Absolutely great location. Can't beat the price for the location. The staff were polite and friendly. The rooms are very very very small. It's also very loud. Please be aware that even with earplugs, the outside noise kept us awake at night.

Room small, but for single travel was ok.Noise from street, but it's normal for the position and New York.
