“If you love Times Square it's the perfect hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

We have stayed here before and love the big rooms - separate lounge and bedroom and a nice kitchen area. It can be quite difficult to get into the hotel sometimes through the crowds but once in its very quiet. The door men are very helpful and polite as were the reception staff. The hotel is having some work done at the moment so the lobby is quite chaotic but this was not too disruptive - it will be lovely once done I am sure. We were on 22nd floor and we heard no noise. The beds were so comfy which after a long day walking was great. The fridge was handy too. Having to pay for wi-fi was unexpected and annoying - think it should be free for guests surely ?. Being right in the heart of Times Square is perfect for all the shops and restaurants. Rooms are very clean but are getting very dated now. Would definitely stay there again if we are in that area.

Don't be fooled by the entrance to the Doubletree Suites. Ride the elevator up to the 3rd floor lobby which is small; then, enjoy the friendly, helpful staff and the great rooms. My granddaughter has a severe peanut allergy. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was safe and pleasant. The location was fantastic. We walked out the door onto Times Square. Great hotel and staff!

My husband and I have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel and despite a slight glitch at the beginning when the taxi driver could not find it, everything from then on was great! It was clean, tidy, spacious, well equiped with helpful staff. I stayed at the Doubletreet at Newcastle Airport and hoped that this would live up to their standards and they did. If I did have to gripe the only thing was the wait for the lift on a couple of occasions as we were on floor ten and there were forty odd floors! considering its location on what is undoubtedly the busiest place in New York it was very quiet inside!

We have stayed at the Double tree three time and we love it. The Door man and Bell man are the best we just love them and we remember some of them from our prior stays there. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very helpful with whatever you need.

Excellent location, no noise even though it is a busy street. Lovely room and facilities, I loved the bathroom and toiletries. Staff very helpful. I will definitely use this hotel again. I was with my daughter, she slept in the sitting room on the ample bed settee, I had the bedroom.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, very clean and tidy with maid service everyday. Reception were very helpful with day to day business and advice.

Room Tip: We stayed the 28th floor and the noise was never an issue.

We booked a corner suite for 3 nights the week of Thanksgiving. I had prearranged to have champagne & cheese plate in our room, to help kick off a great "girls week" in NYC. When we arrived approx. 1:30pm, i was told our room would be ready at 2:30. When i came back at 2:30, they said it would be 3pm. So we decided to grab a glass of champagne somewhere else, & hop on a tour bus, even though we were freezing because we planned on changing in our room before we started the tour. When we got back at 5:00pm, our room STILL was not ready!!! The front desk lady (Rhonda) gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks, and said the room should be ready within the next hour, and she would call me. So we walked across the street for dinner & i got a call about 6pm, saying our room was ready. I quickly came back to the hotel, just to find out our room WAS NOT READY!!! We finally got into our room at about 7pm. No champagne, no cheese plate, no rollaway bed (even though i talked to Rhonda about all the prearrangements i had made, and was told everything would be in the room when i got there). This hotel kept us out in the cold until 7pm, forgot the champagne, cheese plate, rollaway bed, extra towel & toiletries we had preordered, and all we got was a voucher for a couple of drinks. Finally the next day we went to the hotel bar to get a drink, and had the worse experience yet! A friend (staying at the Intercontinental) met us at the Doubletree bar(can't remember the name), for a drink, since we had the voucher. I showed the voucher to Vallerie, the bartender, just so she was aware of it. While we were at the table, Vallerie came over & asked us what we wanted, beer or wine? My friend looked at me, and said he was planning on having Jim Beam & coke, but Vallerie interrupts & to say "beer or wine". I told her Rhonda never mentioned that to me, & Vallerie proceeds to hold the voucher up to my face & tells me to "read what it says at the bottom" in a very annoyed tone. I was so stunned, and embarrassed, i just asked her for the voucher & we all left. NEVER would i have imagined someone in a hospitality position, after seeing the voucher & knowing there must have been some sort of problem in regards to my stay that i would been given a voucher, would be so blatantly rude to a guest. I was nearly in tears, so i decided to go talk to a manager while my friend grabbed a table for us across the street. After requesting to speak to a manager, & waiting, & waiting, finally a manger came over to speak to us. Unfortunately, after explaining everything to him, all he could say was "what can i do to make your stay better?" My response should have been to change hotels, but instead i broke down & had to go back to my room. Nothing was ever done about any of it. Luckily, we spent the last 3 nights at the Flatiron Hotel, which was incredible! I can't wait to write a review for them. I have been on 4 vacations this year, & have stayed twice at Marriott's & twice at Hilton's, but this is one Hilton hotel i can not recommend. I spent a lot of money on this room, and it looks like it was all for sleeping, because after everything that happened i did't want to spend any more time or money anywhere in this hotel. My husband travels to NYC about 2-3 times a year, & is a Hilton member, but he will NEVER stay at this location.

Room Tip: Not worth the money!
