Location is great! Tribeca is a great location to stay. We were close to the subway as well as great food! The Hotel rooms are small but comfortable and have all you need. There is a starbucks and another resturant attached to hotel for convienent eating. There is a great Amish market 2 blocks away for all your needs. Staff was alway helpful and always hailed our taxis for us!

I stayed here for 16 nights in August 2013 at the start of living in New York whilst I looked for somewhere more long term. I chose this hotel purely because it was reasonably priced for the area at around $225 a night and only five minutes walk to my new office. I got what I needed which was a quiet room at the back where I could get sleep after working all day. It was small and dark though. If this had been a vacation then I would have felt like I should have saved and gone for somewhere more flashy, it does feel old fashioned and the air conditioning works very well but was very noisy indeed.

I will say the staff on the front desk were very friendly, one lady always remembered my name and said "hello Mr Wilson" which is great customer service.

Room Tip: Quiet at the back, though this is only an option if you are happy to look out at a brick wall. Not t...

We looked long and hard for a 3 star hotel in a great location for the right price. This hotel ticked all the boxes. The check-in process was a breeze, although you can't check in till 3pm and check out is 12pm. We paid £1k for 5 nights. The hotel is very clean and smells nice, the staff were professional and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are a little compact with a double bed which was really comfortable, built in wardrobe, Air Con, Ceiling fan, safe, Iron and Ironing board, ipod dock, large flat screen TV. The bathroom is clean and compact with bath, shower and large mirror, a little on the cramp side but no big issue. The WIFI was free and available in rooms and lobby area. The lobby area has 2 Apple macs with printer to print boarding passes and emails etc. There is also a live departure and arrival screen so you can check what time flights are which was very useful.

The location of this hotel was excellent, its situated in lower Manhattan (Tribeca) Soho near the financial district which has less tourists and you get a feel of what the people of New York are like. Everything you could possibly need is nearby: Subway station (Chambers Street) right next to hotel, Banks, ATM, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, starbucks (next door), pizza places, hairdressers, chemists.

The hotel is approximately 1hrs drive from JFK airport depending what time of day it is, if you pre-book a taxi its should cost $65 (£40) each way + Tips

Pros:

Very Clean hotel with free WIFI
Ideal if you don't plan to spend much time in hotel
Subway station outside hotel
Starbucks next door (Free WIFI)
Less tourists- so quieter
Close to World Trade Centre (Ground zero) /City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge/SOHO/Chinatown
Area feels very safe
Your never to far from anywhere in Manhattan

Cons:

Construction work outside, makes it quite noisy in the mornings
Only 1 lift in the hotel which can be slow, especially if your on the 4th floor or higher
Ask for a room facing the street, as we had a view of another building 10 feet away, so no natural light
WIFI can be slow sometimes
Check-in should earlier than 3pm
You can hear people walking in their rooms directly above you, which can be annoying

This is a great hotel and the location is perfect and will suit most people. Take the negative reviews on here with a pinch of salt, people don't research what they actually need.

The hotel will suit people who plan to be out all day and only be at the hotel in the mornings and evenings, as the size of the room will frustrate you if you spend too long in there. If this is the case go for a 4 star and pay a bit extra if you need the space, otherwise its perfect.

Places to visit:

Shopping- Soho, Century 21 (New York's TK Maxx), Macy's, Bloomingdales, 5th Avenue
Entertainment- Reade street- 5 mins walk, lots of bars- head for Ward 3 for cocktails

Celebrity Hangouts- Greenwich Village, West Village, Chelsea, Meatpacking District, Soho

Room Tip: Ask for a street facing room and go for a room on the 2nd/3rd floor as you can take stairs, as the l...

We have stayed here two times and both times it was a great stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. They helped us with parking and any other tips we needed to find our way around the city. The room was great with a view of the street. We could see the new world trade center out the window. Love those city sounds. Everything worked well in the room and we loved it. We hated to leave. We have stayed in many hotels in the city and we find this one of our favorites. The location is incredible!!

Room Tip: I like the rooms that view the street!!

It was less expensive than most other options. Room was pokily small, with no view to the outside. There is no restaurant on the premises, so breakfast was an over-priced adjacent cafe. Toilet blocked and air-conditioner did not seem to respond to simple instructions. Its noise was a problem all night. It may represent good value in NYC, but does NYC represent good value? Not compared with other world centres!

We've stayed here a few times in the past and thought it was a great hotel but this time was different. We had an expensive room facing the street which was incredibly noisy, really difficult to sleep. It was also hot as air con was loud and ceiling fan only had one setting - on. The beds were squeaky and we were only given 2 small pillows. The room was big but all in all, we wouldn't go back despite really having enjoyed it in the past and liking the area. If you do stay there, absolutely ask for a room not facing the street and don't think that reserving the most expensive room gets you the most comfortable room.

Thank you for posting on Trip Advisor regarding your stay last month. Please note that we do have many rooms that face the back of the hotel and are quiet. We also want to let you know that beginning next year the hotel will receive many upgrades including a central air system. New York City has seasonal rates with the Fall Season having higher rates due to many events and conventions taking place. There are other times of the year where the rates vary. Really great location right in Tribeca, and great value, which is getting harder to find - when most the nicer hotels are $500+, Cosmopolitan was less than half per night. Room was simple, but decent sized, and extremely comfortable bed w/ fluffy duvet and decent desk (wish it had a desk lamp). Free WiFi was appreciated, and there's room service available for breakfast. The bathroom was one of the smallest I've seen - just inches between the sink and toilet and shower, but everything was very clean, and the Gilchrist & Soames toiletries were a nice touch. I would definitely stay here again.
