Wonderful hotel. Lots of international visitors here. As noted, location is unbelievable central to times square, central park, transportation, broadway , bars etc! I got a deal for $99 per night through their website and was worth every penny!

Stayed at the Salisbury for 3 nights on a girlie shopping trip with a friend. Having requested a quiet room by email we were both upgraded to a suite each which was huge. The suites are extremely large and comfortable. Decor could be more modern but the beds are comfortable with a coffee machine, fridge and microwave provided as well. The front desk staff are friendly and efficient. We ordered a car via the hotel to take us to the airport and instead we had a limo ferry us there in style! Overall I would stay here again and do not hesitate in recommending it to other NYC travellers.

Staff were curteous and offered more than expected service- using the lobby phone for confirmations etc. The room was upgraded when the requested king bed ( where do you get a king bed in this town??) wasn't cleaned yet (at 1200 and check in is 1400!!) so they upgraded us to a corporate king room for after we returned from lunch!!!! Fabulous top floor huge room with very large bath and at the back of the hotel. We didnt hear anything from the street- you could hear a pin drop and slept like babies in the comfy bed! The room was clean and the safe in the room was handy. We really liked the older building, double closet doors, marble bathroom and 12 foot ceilings. This hotel had real character as well as modern amenities that all worked ! Truly enjoyed our stay and would like to return asap. Great location to see and do everything! We didnt go to breakfast but liked that there is a Starbucks across the street.

We found this to be a fantastic hotel for our 5 day trip - great location, great price and we even found ourselves with a huge suite and massive King size bed. As others say, it is not the most modern but by no means outdated and very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anybody off to New York.

My daughter and I spent 4 days in NYC, while she attended auditions at Juilliard and Cornish College of the Arts. We wanted to be within walking distance of the auditions -- Juilliard at Lincoln Center, and Cornish was held in meeting rooms at 48th and Broadway. I did a search for midtown hotels, and stumbled across the Salisbury. We requested a room with two queen beds, and booked online at the "I Love New York" rate of $99 per night. Much to our surprise, when we checked in we were upgraded to a suite -- which was huge! The living room windows looked out onto 57th Street at the front of the hotel, and the bedroom windows looked out onto 58th Street. A 42inch flat-panel HDTV in the living room, 32 inch flat-panel HDTV in the bedroom, a walk-in closet in the bedroom, 3 more closets in the hall and living room, a kitchen/dining area with fridge, microwave and coffee-maker and table/chairs for 4. Two queen beds in the bedroom, and a queen-sized sofa-bed in the living room.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful with directions, etc, for travelers who are unfamiliar with the city. We didn't take advantage of the continental breakfast buffet offered at $6 per person, but I dropped in to see what was available for that price -- coffee, tea, milk, juice, danishes, donuts, bagels, fruit salad, cereals, oatmeal, waffles or pancakes, possibly eggs and bacon (I can't quite remember, but the spread IS quite large, and no limits on quantity).

The hotel is in a great location, easy walk to the theatre district, 5th Avenue shopping, MoMA, Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center, and Central Park. It is located directly across the street from Carnegie Hall and The Russian Tea Room. There is also a Starbucks and a 24 hour pharmacy just across the street, and a deli-style take-out restaurant, and a pizzeria just a few steps from the hotel entrance. The deli (The Green Cafe) has tasty sandwiches and wraps, but don't be fooled by the attractive pastries and cheesecakes in the display case -- they were not fresh.

The hotel is obviously an older property, but very clean, the furnishings appear to have been recently installed -- little to no wear and tear noticeable on the upholstery or wood surfaces, the mattresses were quite firm with tasteful, creamy-white matelasse quilted coverlets, the towels were thick and soft, we were very comfortable. While they do not offer room service from their kitchen, they have menus from several local restaurants with delivery to the hotel for a $2 surcharge. The rooms were quiet -- we saw our neighbors in the hallway when entering or exiting our rooms, but never heard any noise through the shared walls. There was some street noise on occasion, but we were on the 10th floor, and we didn't find it disruptive or so loud that it woke us up at night. WiFi Internet access is offered at $10 per 24 hours, which can be accessed through the living room HDTV, if you are traveling without a laptop. We had some connectivity issues when using our laptop in the room, but none when using the access through the TV-STB.

We would definitely recommend this to friends staying in NYC, I was really stunned to find such a great value in an excellent location.

This hotel was very reasonably priced and centrally located to many attractions. Across the street from Carnegie Hall, 2 blocks from 5th Ave and 200 yrds from Central Park. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. A blizzard was coming and management asked if guests would like to9 stay if they were unable to leave.

Group of 16 moms/daughters stayed at Salisbury from 2/12 thru 2/15. The accomodated us well. Older Hotel but clean. The rooms have no sprinkler system. Good location, was able to walk to Times Square/Gershwin Theatre/Rockefeller Center/Radio Center Music Hall. Overall I would reccomend this hotel. It did have a few minor issues that I will mention but nothing major. The mattresses were on the hard side but sleepable. Elevators were small and sometimes crowded, particularly at checkout. We heard traffic noise in our room fronting 57th street (14th floor) but others in our group whose rooms faced out back did not. The shower temperature would fluctuate. They did not bring the proper amount of towels each day except the last. however we brought up quickly when we asked. We had 4 to a room and while not spacious we weren't uncomfortable. Our room had a small frig, microwave and small coffee pot. The bathroom was small and had no fan but sufficient. The lobby was in need of refurbishing but the rooms were in good condition. The continential breakfast was $6.00 plus tax. Okay but after the first day we decided to try something else. Overall a good choice of which we were happy.
