Just returned from a 5 night stay to New York, Stayed at the Salisbury hotel, We were made to feel welcome ,right from the time we checked in.Th e hotel is well situated fro all the attractions, central park a five minute walk,5th,6th and 7th avenues right there waiting to be explored! The hotel it self was nice but a little dated, we stayed inroom 1216, which is situated at the back of the hotel,we were told it is quieter, there is constuction work going on next door so found it quiet noisy from about 6.30 in the morning, not much could be done about it. so did not complain, the room was very spacious and like the touch of the kitchenette, only wish there was a kettle to boil some water, there was only a coffee maker, but small moans, but a fantastic place to visit and a great hotel to stay in, would go back.

We stayed at the Salisbury in March 2013 with our 2 teenagers. The one bedroom suite was roomy and comfortable although somewhat dated. The best part of the hotel is it's superb location within walking distance of Times Square , the theaters , Central Park , MOMA , Top of the Rock , and more. The room had a fridge and we took advantage by having breakfast in our room. There is a grocery store right across the street.

Yes, the Salisbury Hotel has an excellent location, spacious and spotlessly clean rooms. There is an upscale hour grocery store across the street. It's very close to metro lines. What impressed me was the hotel staff. From the minute we arrived to our departure, they anticipated our needs, stepped in to hail cabs, fixed a tv within 5 minutes of mentioning it at the desk (at 11pm no less) Every staff member we encountered bellman, desk maintenance, and maid were gracious and helpful. A special shout out to John who oriented us to our room and the neighborhood. To summarize: love the hotel, love the staff, great location and we WILL be back.

We have stayed at the Salisbury on 2 occasions, the first in 2011 and more recently January 2013. The hotel is in a fantastic position, walking distance to Times Square, Central Park and most major attractions in Manhattan, Subway station on the corner, great inexpensive eating places close at hand. Small deli/supermarkets next door and across the road so you can grab something to eat from there if you don't want to spend too much on food, Starbucks across the road as well for that all important morning cup of coffee. The hotel is old but has heaps of character, rooms clean and comfortable and HUGE by NY standards, our first stay we were a family of and had plenty of space for all of us and the luggage in a suite. Only suggestion is to ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the street noise can be a bit loud...It is NYC after all. This is our NY home away from home...we'll be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel as it is much quieter.

I've been going to Salisbury since the mid-1980s, and it hasn't changed a lot. That's good in my view. No longer are the breakfasts free, but for $9 you get a great variety from a continental breakfast, including fresh fruit, coffee, black tea, fruit juices, bagels, pastries, boiled eggs, cereals, and waffles. We would eat here for the convenience and stuff ourselves before going out on the town!

The rooms are large and beds are comfy. Most of all, I like the location. In addition to being near Central Park, Salisbury is across from Carnegie Hall and the Russian Tea Room. Another little secret, it's across from The Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien, where perhaps the best burger in NYC is sold. Cash only, and hidden behind the lobby, but ask for it and the doormen will tell you where it is.

Everyone we met was friendly, even the people at The Russian Tea Room. We stumbled across it after eating our great burger. Because it was still early in the afternoon, they let us in without a reservation. And we sat in Dustin Hoffman's seat from his role in Tootsie.

Also, Rockefeller Center is within walking distance, as well as Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Enjoy NYC. The bus stops are around the corner from the Salisbury, and the subway station is just a few steps away on 7th.

Room Tip: If you don't like street noise, ask to be placed in a room that's not closer to 57th.

This hotel was an amazing experience, the vibe of the old fashion hotel was beautiful, the location was also very nice, close to Central Park but not a to bad of a walk to Time Square. Being able to walk threw the streets and actually see everything was nice. The employees were amazing and if you were planning on eating at the hotel for breakfast the variety wasn't bad. The room that we stayed in ended up being a suite and it was all nicely clean and functioning, nothing was busted or broken and the shower had great water pressure. All in all this was a very pleasant stay and i give it a 5 out of 5

Spent 3 nights in this hotel. Stayed in a suite, lots of room which is important for 4 women! The room was old but clean and had everything we needed including a table with chairs, a small fridge and bar sink. Lots of closet space. Comfy beds. Walking distance to Times Square. The staff was very friendly and helpful to us first timers. Affordable rates.
