I had read many reviews and seen loads of pictures of the hotel before we went to spend 5 nights over New Year, but it surpassed my expectations. Thanks to the added security. we arrived several hours late so it was dark when we arrived. When we arrived in our room the curtains were closed, I pulled back the curtains to be greeted with the wonderful view of the Empire State Building dressed in her Christmas colours. Wonderful! The rooms were good, bathrooms were good, although a little dated, staff helpful. Only small complaint was that the maid had a habit of knocking and walking in before you could stop her. There was a little Deli opposite to the left from outside reception entrance called Ramses which did lovely hot chocolate, tea, coffee, beers and sandwiches made to order. The bagels fresh in the morning were wonderful, cream cheese and crispy bacon mmmmmm, I can taste them now. If you go 1 block up 49th to 9th Ave and turn left, you will find Gossip, This is lovely bar and restaurant. Most of the staff are Irish and really friendly. The steaks are great and very reasonably priced, around $19. For a blow the budget, try Uncle Jacks on 9th Street. The Porter House is the biggest and best steak I've ever tried, and as for the baked potato, well it was huge! New York was everything I expected and more. I can't tell you enough I love it!

We chose this hotel due to the fact that we were going to have to park our van overnight for four nights. The overnight parking was only $10/day!! Incredible price in NYC. Also,
the hotel is only 2 blocks from Broadway and all the major attractions in Time Square. The hotel is located in what is commonly known as "Hell's Kitchen". We also chose the hotel due to the rooftop indoor pool, since we were traveling with our boys. Loved it!!!

i stayed for a couple of night in the skyline hotel as it was recommended as relatvely cheap and good and it was.
I didnt use the pool (didnt even know they had one) or gym.

location is great. no problem getting a taxi. 10 minute walk to broadway and i dint feel unsae at all.

Breakfast is somewhat confusing. there is a buffet but you can also order at your table. I didnt bother to find out why but I had to pay some additional breakfast items but i could have them put on my bill.

Just a good cheap hotel near he centre. Slept like a baby.

only minor point: when i received my creditcard bill and I was charged for my colleagues room as well, the hotel didnt respond to my email concerning this issue

For anyone on a budget, this is a great place to stay. The great thing is that it does not lack in quality. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are big and clean, and everyone is very helpful. This is a hidden gem as far as Manhattan hotels go. 15 min. walk to Times Square, 10 min. walk to Broadway theatres. The #1 subway train is located at 50th and 8th which is maybe an 8 minute walk. Also for a cheap eat and cold beer check out 1-2-3 Burger Shot Beer! It's about a half block north on the east side of 10th ave. $1 burgers(sliders), $2 shots, and $3 beers. So if you want the Waldorf Astoria, go stay at the Waldorf Astoria. But if you want a great value hotel that does not lack in quality, stay at the Skyline!

not a five star hotel, but at the bargain rates, a real treat--clean, neat, fantastic location. parking next door for $10/night, cannot be beat. we spent maybe 2 waking hours a day in the room, so we didn't mind that the amenities were not copious. it was perfect for what we needed--the shower was excellent, and the beds were comfortable. easy walking distance to midtown, times square, 5th ave, 30 rock, theatre district. don't miss the galaxy diner on 9th/47th for breakfast. . .miles better than the city lights diner others have recommended. tonnes of good hell's kitchen restos on 9th. concierge can be wonderful--if gabriel is at the desk, he will not steer you wrong! h&h bagels is about 8 mins away, and 50th st c/e station is just two streets over. nice lcd, small fridge, but no coffeemaker or kettle. will definitely stay here again, the next time i'm in nyc

i booked my holiday with thomson`s. the girl who helped us said most people only go for or 4 days. I had wanted to go for days. i was talked into going for just 10 days, BIG MISTAKE. we had one day of torrential rain while we we in battery park, awaiting the boat to go to libert island, we did not get there. Due to only having ten days we could not re schedule a day to re vist. we did the top of the rock ( excellent) the empire state building. coney island was fantastic. the new york zoo was good. central park was brilliant. bryant park movie night was amazing. the bus trips ( day one and night time one superb. hotel was 5 mins walk from times square and was very good. the swimming pool on the top floor was old but good. the only dissapointment was breakfast was dreadfull so we eat out after the second morning. there is a subway 50 yards away, good. all in all the most amazing place in the world. the theatres are about a ten minute walk which is fine at 3pm on the way in alittle scary at midnight coming out. taxi or rickshaw reccomended. travel to coney island by underground its a joy in its self.
