Hotel Elysee by Library Hotel Collection

My husband and I just returned home after a week at Hotel Elysee, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is centrally located in Midtown Manhattan, with great locations (such as Rockefeller Center, Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping) all within easy walking distance. We were upgraded to a king room, which was extremely spacious. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. Although others have commented on this hotel being old, I thought the decor was incredibly charming. The chandeliers throughout the hotel (including the elevator!) create a lovely atmosphere, and were a welcome change to the overly modern and somewhat cold feel of many of the chain hotels. Hotel Elysee has a charming character which distinguishes it from other hotels, while also providing the comforts that I would expect from a top hotel chain. The hotel was clean (and free of bedbugs, as others have noted), and we found the staff to be incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Although I think that the free cookies may be a little over-hyped, it was nice to be able to have a free pre-dinner drink, and the free breakfasts were exceptional. My only complaint would be the fact that there is only one computer in the "business center", which was almost always occupied. It is possible that they may have had free WiFi, but I did not check on this. Probably worth exploring this further if you are planning to stay in this hotel on business.

I will definitely return to this hotel next time I am in New York.

My husband and I spent our glorious honeymoon at the Hotel Elysee. After a week with my "challenging" relatives, the warm greetings we received at reception immediately diminished our stress and put us in the mood for a romantic adventure in the Big Juicy Apple.

One of the staff members led us to a suite which included a large living room, spacious closet and grand bedroom. We were given a celebratory bottle of champagne and chocolates. The quiet, clean and tastefully decorated suite held the charm of "old New York". Having frequently visited the city, I always prefer to stay at older hotels because the rooms are usually larger than the pill boxes offered by modern chains. I will also confess that nothing makes me feel more like a femme fatale of film noir than a retrospective hotel. The French furniture and romantic ambience took us back to Paris.

Ladies (and gents in stockings) know that when getting ready for a night on the town you want space away from your beloved to groom, gaze and adjust before a large mirror. I had the entire living area to myself and could cast my eager hubby out while I put on the finishing touches: stilettos and diamonds.

We awoke each morning to a generous continental breakfast in a velvety lounge on the second floor with a splendid view of the bustling street below and returned each afternoon from sight seeing to a glass of chilled Prosecco and an assortment of cheeses.

Hotel Elysee is in an ideal location for mid-town shopping and only a short distance from public transportation. The staff provided prompt directions when needed. Although we dined in other districts, we were enticed by the quaint restaurants across the street from Hotel Elysee. If you need to grab a quick pre-theatre bite, a fine and affordable selection is within walking distance from the hotel.

We felt safe, nurtured and respected at the Hotel Elysee and anticipate annual visits.

Perfect location, cosy atmosphere and excellent service. The hospitality lounge is particularly great, friends can even share a glass of wine with you on the way to the theatre. Rooms are not large(bathrooms are tiny), but comfy and spotless.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Elysée — starting with the location and the accommodations, and extending to the staff and the service. We mentioned when making the reservation that the trip was an anniversary celebration, and the staff went out of their way to enhance the celebration, by (for example) arranging for an early check-in, plus champagne and chocolates in the room. We were fans of the club room for breakfast and for breaks during the day, even cocktails in the afternoon after we checked out. The hotel was a great jumping off point and landing pad for two days walking everywhere in Midtown -- 5th Ave and MoMA, Central Park, Lincoln Center, Madison Ave, Times Square and Restaurant Row. The location makes it easy to stop in for a break between outings -- and it's only 10 feet to the Monkey Bar! We plan to return. (Street noise was noticeable on 54th St as the NYC Sanitation department loaded a week's worth of post-blizzard garbage, but not terrible. )

We stayed at the Elysee the week before Christmas. The location is superb -- easy access to Midtown shopping, restaurants, sight-seeing, and public transportation. The rooms are huge for NYC, although they are old (fixtures, furniture and bedding were a tad shabby, but clean). NO BEDBUGS, which is a huge plus these days. The free continental breakfast and afternoon snacks/drinks are also a bonus, but don't expect high-end stuff -- its very basic, though good for those who are traveling with families.

This is such a treat, a hotel where everyone from the bellman to the desk clerks, to the maids, to the wait staff are all aligned with the concept of "Welcome to our home, your home away from home. Being in New York is about the city, not the room, so size is not ad important as comfort. Phenomenal sheets on the bed, a shower with great hot water and water pressure. Even the bath products were noticably better quality. Nice to have some water in the room that's not $5 a bottle. I will return again and again, with family as I did this time and alone on business.
Ask the concierge on where to go to dinner, it becomes a conversation to meet your needs. They care about their guests, whether it be at check in, 2 am looking for an all night diner that serves cheese fries, or at check out, it's all the same. This place is Excellent.

The location of this small hotel y fantastic but what really makes it wonderful is the service. You feel attended constantly without never being overwhelmed, the idea of the breakfast buffet in the social room, the coffee and cookies, the wine and cheese, it's like coming back home after your long day, you really feel at home. (We were specially thankful: we were there right during a snowstorm and the following days, and it really felt good to have a cozy place to land in).
We never got a no for an answer.
The room is pretty big though the bathroom is on the small side, but that really becomes unimportant when you feel so much at home.
We will certainly make it our hotel in New York.
